Mr. Lee did not repair the leak that we called him for nor was he able to diagnose the source of the leak in my kitchen. He did not want to answer the questions I asked regarding the problem. His son tightened the kitchen faucet that same day; when they left, the water pressure into my kitchen faucet was less than half of what it had been. When I called to ask when he could come back to correct the pressure problem, he initially said that he would come the next week. Then he called the next week to cancel, and said if he came he would charge me again. Ultimately he hung up on me after denying that he had anything to do with the water pressure problem. He charged $400 for his time but no work was done and he created a new problem. Seriously would avoid working with him or his son. read more

Our kitchen sink was draining ultra slow for days. I thought I could unclog it. Wife finally got tired of waiting and said why don't you call the Lees dumbass!?! Our job was for a faucet install, but unfortunately the construction of our island prevented sufficient access to remove the old faucet and install the new one without significant demolition to the island. Excellent and fast service. My parents bought a new washing machine from Best Buy. A third party installer delivered the new machine and proceeded to install it. Then he broke the water pipe and water came gushing out non-stop. My parents had to turn off the main water valve. I did a search on Yelp and found Mr. Lee and his son with 5 Yelp stars and hoped that they spoke Chinese. I gave their number to my mom to call and they spoke with her and came within 30 minutes and repaired / replace the broken piece right away. They were fast, professional, responsible and nice. Mr. Lee and son are great. Professional, reliable, reasonable. They fixed my furnace and then I later called them back for a broken shower mechanism. This was a designer shower ~15 years old and they took the time to track down hard to find parts and fixed it perfectly. Revised: On a 2nd job they did an ok job but I felt a bit gouged. Five stars are not enough for Mr. Lee. Came home from work to a leaky water heater and no hot water. Recommended by my landlord Mr. Lee answered right away and came over at 8:45pm to inspect. On a Friday! He knew I had an engagement the next day and arrived Saturday morning at 6:30am to install a new hot water heater. Highly recommended. I've also left messages for plumbers all over the years in various parts of the country who were too busy to call back. So I was thrilled when a friend referred me to C.W. Lee Plumbing. I can't say enough about CW Lee Plumbing. I have used Cheuk to do the plumbing work in a kitchen and bath remodel and he was great. When tree roots invaded my sewer pipe, I called Cheuk and he came over and took care of replacing the pipe and repouring the concrete. He has helped me out on small things (like leaky pipes) as well. He does good work and has reasonable rates. How do I know this? Because he is the one plumber who will actually return your calls and show up. We manage a lot of SFH, condos, basically a myriad of "small jobs", and they have never snubbed us for bigger accounts they work with. I called up Mr. Lee when my 25+ year-old furnace started making a very loud noise reminiscent of a broken washing machine. Unlike the other heating repair companies, he was able to come out the same day, which I appreciated since I didn't wan't to miss time at work. CHEUK LEE and his son are amazing! He came all the way over to the East Bay in rush hour traffic from SF to fix a huge plumbing leak in a 1920's 24U apartment building that was caused by another plumber who was too lazy and claimed he did not know how to fix the leak. Omg, read these reviews and since he is near, gave a call. WONDERFUL!!!!!! My kitchen faucet has been broken for awhile and was hard to turn off. In an effort to save $, I went to Costco and bought a new faucet and needed a plumber to switch them out. Mr. Lee left his cell phone on his message and when I called, said he would be over in 20 minutes (which he was). 1 hour later (for a VERY reasonable fee), I had a perfect sink! He understood English well, was super personable and very professional. Only challenge is that he prefers cash, which was not a problem for me. AFTER about 5 jobs...visits to my house.....I noticed the last two jobs were $ Higher than I expected... ..I started looking around for some else..disappointed being a 5 job customer... Found a friendly 5 star guy nearby...had him over for latest job...and asked his estimate on Mr Lee's last job..(replacing 2 pieces of gas pipe on the side of house..less than 2 hrs..) his estimate was $400 cheaper..CONFIRMING what I thought was a HIGH Price.. and I didn't reveal Mr Lee's price.( ONE Thousand.) One review here mentions 2nd job..HIGH.....I agree... .Yes, ..They are prompt, efficient..but I'm gonna try the new guy..and I got a good feeling first meeting............He talked me out of first item I showed him..and MOST Plumbers would have said $350..easy.... .He said I didn't have to replace..... ..just sand rust spot and caulk.. July 10, 2012, I call Mr. Lee over the weekend and said I had "hot brown" water coming out the faucet, right away Mr Lee knew it was my water heater. With 48 hrs Mr Lee and his son brought and installed a new water heater. I am very satisfied with their prompt service and they clean up ( sweep) afterward too. Mr. Lee and his son are very professional and super organized and prompt. They took care of a faucet fixture that was not sitting properly on the basin and went to the store for a replacement part. Although I did run into a slight leaking problem on one of the hoses, i left a message that same evening and Mr. Lee promptly called me back! I called Lee Plumbing to fix a water heater that wouldn't stay on. The pilot light would keep shutting itself off so the water wouldn't heat for very long. Lee Plumbing had to come out THREE times to fix this problem. First time: Lee didn't fix anything - just tightened some screws and said there wasn't anything obviously wrong - although I told him the problem. Charged me $95. Second time: Switched out a small part. Charged me $10 for the part, no labor. Third time: Charged me $360 to replace the control unit (full price for labor and parts) - no discount for the fact that I had already paid him $105 and that it took him 3 visits to fix the problem. Bottom line: Lee wasted my time and overcharged me. I'm not calling him EVER again. I'm a landlord and have seen my fair share of contractors, so I don't think I'm being unreasonable. Yesterday PG&E found a gas leak in the wall furnace of my apartment. They turned off the gas to the furnace. My landlord said someone would come to fix it, but through some mix up with keys, no one did. During the night, a terrible, acrid odor caused by the buildup of residue came down the flue or chimney and drifted into my apartment. I needed help! Mr. Lee answered his cell phone and promised to repair my wall furnace the same day. He just left a few minutes ago after doing an expert job--removing the leaking pipe, resealing the part that leaked, installing it, relighting the pilot and starting up the furnace, all in less than an hour! He is a friendly, capable licensed plumber with reasonable rates. I highly recommend him. read more

We hired Mr. Lee to replace a leaking water heater. He was prompt and him and his son worked professionally for a few hours to do this which was great. However, we had a furnace replaced in our house shortly therafter and our furnace guy noticed that the plumbing was leaking above the water heater- he said this should have been changed when the new water heater was fitted. So, I called Mr. Lee back and he promptly came, saw the leak and again, him and his son promplty got to work. I had to step out for about a hour and a half and when I came back, he was waiting for me with a bill in hand!!! I was outraged- I had already paid him $1000 for the water heater and now he wanted an additional $283 for this 'repair' which I was told should have been done with the water heater replacement to begin with. First of all, he should have told me this was going to cost money (which he didn't as he said it was a minimal cost and therefore they just did it). I refused to pay but he would not budge. I had to call my husband while Mr. Lee waited for payment and again, he wouldn't budge. I was alone, 37 weeks pregnant and at a loss- so finally, he agreed on $250 and I paid him begrudgingly. Although I found the quality of his work good, I believe his customer service skills are awful and he should have told me about this extra cost upfront. It is funny as he arrived at 8:35am and I have to leave- he didn't start working until at least 8:45am or so....and then I got back at 10:00am and somehow that was 1.5 hours of labour even though I received a call from him at 9:50am saying he was done and waiting for me.....seems to be that I got ripped off. We had another big plumbing job that we were going to offer to him but now we have decided to go elsewhere. I would strongly urge others to contact other plumbers before going with Mr. Lee as you never know what you may end up fixing and paying after the job..... read more
