Jake arrived to do an initial consult to determine what parts potentially needed to be ordered to repair my faucet. He set expectations well and said he couldn't be 100% certain, but he would start with the least invasive solution, order the part, and we could schedule the actual repair when the part arrived. He also let me know what I needed to do to prep for the future repair, which was helpful. I was contacted to schedule repair when the part arrived a few weeks later. Jake arrived promptly at the scheduled window, shut off my water supply for me, replaced the part, and set expectations that I could possibly see the issue again because without going more invasive, it's not entirely possible to determine the root cause, which made sense for a plumbing issue. He was clean, finished in less than an hour, and also sent pictures of the WIP while he was repairing. I appreciated the promptness, professionalism, and transparency. read more

After paying the $85 visit fee and getting a first estimate, I replied with offers to purchase the materials and guarantee them on-site prior to the work as well as other things I could do here to reduce the cost and time of the job. They replied with a new $165 invoice *just to discuss the estimate they'd given me*. Yep--$165 to even talk about their estimate. I've had a lot of work done over my lifetime, and I've never even heard of such a thing. Outrageous. If they're willing to do this, what are they willing to do once they're at your house on the job? Beware clauses and wording in the contract/estimate that are open to inflated costs. I found several. I investigate consumer fraud for a living. DO NOT use this company. Unless you're independently wealthy and can afford anything you want, STAY AWAY from this business. read more

Jake Hankins from Handyman Heroes installed a Murphy bed for us and did a really solid job. That thing is heavy and awkward to maneuver, and Jake (along with his teammate) hauled the frame through our back area, assembled it, and anchored it securely to the wall. You could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. A few small things got dinged up along the way, on the wall and an outdoor stair, but the team's been proactive about making it right, which counts for a lot in my book. So I contacted Handyman Heros to have some small jobs (hanging bathroom shelf, pictures, towel rack--all things I had clear photos of) completed. They let me know that it would be $85 to come give me a quote. I asked if I could share photos and get a ballpark quote, they said no. One of the jobs was to have a dimmer switch installed. They said an electrician would have to accompany the other handyman in order to give a quote. The electrician never showed up so the "handyman" took photos of the switch (the same photos I had and wanted to share). Anyway the quote just for the dimmer was $350. Max Electric did it for $175 without charging me $85 to come out and take photos that I could share. The rest of the quote was more than double all other quotes I had. Way overpriced. read more

l would never use this company if they were the last handyman company on the planet! . To begin with, it is quite an ordeal to get through to them. You have to deal with a useless AI bot named Rosie. It is incredibly frustrating!! They love to send automated messages stating that someone will call you back but it NEVER HAPPENS! Their pricing is absolutely outrageous! I was quoted almost $1000 to replace a light timer and check possible improper wiring that was impacting a hall light. The nightmare began when the electrician, Gregorio, was running very late. He was supposed to arrive between 12-2. It was close to 2:00 and nobody had arrived. It took several attempts to actually reach a real person only to learn that Gregorio was running about an hour late and would arrive after 2:30. No timely notification whatsoever. I lost a good chunk of my work day having put off work calls,etc. to accommodate HH's scheduled arrival window. Things got far worse when an extremely young 'electrician' arrived. He went to work on the electrical wall panel, but never bothered to give me a heads up that he had to turn of parts of the power, so l lost a work document l was working on. When l went to check on his work later on he informed me that the new timer wouldn't work the way old timer did in that l wouldn't be able to turn the porch light off and on manually. Since he obviously couldn't figure out how to set the timer, he told me that the porch light will be on 24/7. I asked him to put the old timer back in but he claimed it wasn't working properly ( l know, that's why it was being replaced). l could at leas still manually turn the porch light off during daylight hours. He wouldn't put the old timer back and that is when l discovered that he disabled the indoor entryway overhead light when l turned the switches off and on. Without that light, l can't see a thing at night (and my bedroom is located off the entryway). I was very upset! What kind of professional disables a critical light without informing the homeowner first? I was just astounded! So, he left me with no entryway light and at risk of having a fall as it is now completely dark in the entryway. He was actually getting ready to leave without telling me that he disabled the light! Finally, something he did impacted the existing strength of the front porch light. It is significantly dimmer than it was, providing inadequate light for safety. Gregorio was great at assessing blame on the previous electrician who was here and cut wires. But the bottom line is that he failed to communicate to me what he had done, that he couldn't program the new timer, and never explaining that the job was incomplete. I was promised a call by a manager, but it has been complete radio silence. What a pathetic excuse of a company! read more

After putting in my request HH was very quick to respond with a cost estimate and openings. We were helped by Evelio, who arrived on time and was professional throughout the visit. There was one job we forgot to add to the estimate that took significant time, but he jumped right on it. Overall -- the price for service provided felt like the upper bound of what should be expected in the Bay Area, but given the mixed nature of our request (some plumbing, some general repair) and the speed of booking (roughly 3-4 days from request) it was worth it. read more

I would like to especially acknowledge Ismael, who I have requested for several recent appointments. I had a long list of jobs around the house that needed attention, and Ismael knocked them all out perfectly. A few of the jobs were: painting interior and exterior doors/spaces, removing/adding grouting, properly attaching several towel bars, and securing a few floor wood panels. We have employed Handyman Heroes for both their handyman services and plumbing services. Each time, it has been a very pleasant experience with accurate quotes, and I'm talking to within $10 of the quoted approved estimate amount, which is very impressive. Samuel helped us in Aug 2024 perform exterior stucco patching and painting. His work was excellent and he even textured the stucco patches to match the surrounding texture, which shows the detail of his craft. This year in Sep 2025 Ishmael helped us re-seal bathroom tub and shower tile grout, as well as kitchen countertop caulking to the tile backsplash. Ishmael did a great job - very straight lines, consistent grout and caulking, and he completely re-sealed everything in the bathroom and kitchen to prevent moisture from going into the walls. We also had bad water hammering issues in the home because our incoming city water pressure was 105 psi, we wanted to hydro-jet our home's rear drain ahead of the rainy season, and our American Water Heater / Takagi tankless water heater completely stopped working due to it having being installed 10 years ago without service flush ports and having never been de-scaled. Jake Hankins the Plumbing Service Manager came and installed a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) regulating our incoming water pressure to 70psi, hydro-jetted our rear drain to lateral sewer so that the home is prepared for the upcoming rain, and replaced our tankless water heater with a state of the art Navien 210A tankless system with a 15 year heat exchanger, 5 year parts, and 1 year labor warranty and service ports for annual flushing/de-scaling. The tankless heater was installed in a way that directly hooked up our existing radiant heating system, gas hookup, and exhaust flue, and the finished work was higher quality than the system and facilitation it replaced. All the work was done on time and in approved budget, and the quality of the work is very high. It was also less expensive than the last plumber who came to work on this home. Communication with the office personnel Kathy and Jimena were also very responsive and easy to coordinate both over the phone and through text messages. We are happy homeowners now thanks to Handyman Heroes' excellent work. We also signed up for the new Hero Partner Plan which includes d annual home inspection of plumbing, electrical, flushing of water heater, which we know now will prevent any future heater issues.
