This hike starts at Cloudburst Summit. Please display your adventure pass, keep in mind no restrooms in this area.
There are three trails at the beginning at the parking lot.
1. Left trail up to Winston Peak.
2. Middle trail past the gate.
3. Right trail onto the PCT.
At this hike, we planned to do Winston Peak and Winston Ridge. We opted to hike up to Winston Peak first, then complete a loop coming back on the PCT because we wanted to tackle the steep climb first instead at the end of the hike.
But you can hike any of the 3 choices and come back on the same trail or choose whatever trail options to return to the parking lot.
The hike to Winston Peak is short, the view is nothing special as it's a flat peak with lots of trees obstructing an epic view. But it's still nice and beautiful. As you hike down the other side of the peak, it's steep but manageable. Once you get to the bottom intersection. Far left trail is a straight shot to Winston Ridge. The right trail will also connect to Winston Ridge, but there is a fork on this trail that will take you to Cooper Canyon Campground. So stay left on the fork. And the U turn from the intersection will take you back to the parking lot.
I feel that Winston Ridge is worth the hike. A bit of rock scramble but great views all around compare to Winston Peak.
From here, enjoy the views, then head back the way you came in. This hike is roughly 4-5 miles round trip.
As always pack accordingly to the weather and have fun. read more
