Its very small and there is an upstairs and downstairs....Upstairs has a wide variety of jewelry, home goods, clothing...downstairs has tableware. They also have these incredibly interesting framed bug art/picture that I'm in love with. This place kind of reminds me of Aquire....a little on the pricey side, but carries very unique items. I spoke with a woman who I think was the Owner, she was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the things I was interested in/purchased. I wandered into the Clever Hand for the first time yesterday afternoon while strolling through…read moredowntown Wellesley, and wandered out with 3 gorgeous, local artisan-made pieces (handloomed bamboo scarf, hand-dyed silk scarf, and glove leather belt with carved wood "buckle"), none of which I had expected to acquire but could not possibly leave without! The store is stuffed with lovely, one of kind or limited run things that reflect the vision and interests of individual, Massachusetts-based artists--so much more satisfying to browse than a big box store full of mass-produced stuff. The artisan/salesperson who checked me out (she works in paper, making cards and charming wall collages for children) was welcoming and helpful, and my checkout experience in no way resembled the one described by a previous poster. (Frankly, I was a bit taken aback by how indignant that poster got over her frustrating experience--seems she loved the contents of the store, but knocked it THREE stars for inefficient customer service? That seems disproportionate and unfair...)

The sales woman seemed knowledgeable and…read morewas helpful in helping me find the proper out door light - I needed something that would look monumental atop a granite light post, yet wouldn't overwhelm a small house. The light was special ordered and arrived in a timely fashion. I got it home- unfortunately it sat in the box for the past 6 months while I got around to calling the electrician. When my electrician took it out of the box, the round lamp has a round baseplate. The baseplate is slightly larger than the lamp post so slightly overlaps and looks stupid. It's too late to return it. And too expensive to throw away. With all the other advice I received - I wish I would have been told that you can't put a round lamp on a square post. It was an expensive lesson.
