    They do not stand behind their work, and will rip you off if you are from out of town and in a jam…read more On June 29th, in the middle of a four thousand mile, cross country road trip with my family, my car started acting up. it began to sputter and surge, and felt like it had a cylinder that was not firing. I limped into this dealership, and explained the symptoms to the service adviser. I was informed that their best, and most senior mechanic would be assigned to repair the vehicle. After several hours of troubleshooting, I was advised that I needed a set of spark plugs, a rotor, and possibly a coil to remedy the problem. I agreed to the repair and advised them that since the coil was suspected and old,they should replace that too. I paid this dealership $386.00 for spark plugs, a rotor, coil and labor, and went hapilly on my way. I hit it off with the guys at the dealership, and we talked alot about camping in the area. After approximately 260 miles (4 hours of driving) the problem returned. it was 11 pm, and I was forced to pull over and rent a room in Needles, Ca. Tate Auto Center was closed (understandibly, due to late hours.) The next day I called and spoke with the service advisor at this dealership, Sastamo, and advised him of the problem. He stated that he would relay the information to the Service Manager, Jack. I was then advised that there was "really nothing we can do, if you want to bring it back, we can look at it again." I was 260 miles away, and to tow it back to their dealership would have cost me approximately $600. I was stranded. I had to call a family member In Fontana to pick us up and had the car towed 80 miles to his house I would have settled for the following fair resoloutions: 1. a partial refund, pay for parts only, not labor, since they didnt fix the problem. 2. tow it back to their dealership, at their expense, for further troubleshooting. 3. have me take it to a dealership close to where I was stranded, and have Tate pay for the repair, if they suspected that I was just trying to scam them and get free repair. I am a proud Veteran, I dont make alot of money and am a hard working productive member of my community. I am an honest Yelper, and do many reviews. Tate Auto Center scammed me out of nearly $400. UPDATE-the problem turned out to be a seized distributer cap center electrode. Its the one a spring loaded center. the engine would heat up, the electrode would seize, and the rotor would loose electrical contact with the distributer cap, causing a misfire. The master mechanic should have caught this when he replaced the rotor, looking as to why the rotor was chewed up.

I fully understand that this is a business and dealerships exist to make money--but every dealership in the world could learn something from how Dalton and Planet Jeep treat their customers. My daughter has been with me for my past several car purchases, and she has often said she never wants to deal with salespeople because of the typical experience. Dalton proved that not every dealership or salesperson fits that stereotype. Dalton didn't just help me purchase my Jeep, he helped me find a dealership and a salesperson I feel 100% confident returning to in the future. I also want to recognize Dominic in financing. It was an honor to work with him as well, and that's the key word here: we worked together. Dominic didn't try to sell me everything under the sun or push unnecessary add-ons. He was professional, personable, and secured me a great financing deal. I feel very fortunate to have found a dealership representing a brand I've been loyal to for decades--one that doesn't treat customers like a paycheck or an assembly line. Instead, they treat you like family: fair, honest, and respectful. I never thought I'd say this about a car dealership, but Planet Jeep is truly trustworthy.     Rolled in from California on a Saturday. Been towing 7000 pound trailer and passing thru to Mesa. I…read morewanted and oil change, the time was 3:30. Quick lube had only one truck and it was not getting an oil change. Nothing else going on. I believe Shane was the one running the quick lube and was helping the customer with his diesel truck. Another employee asked what I needed and I said just an oil change as I am passing through and I do oil changes every 5000 miles. On my trip I won't make it back to California before the oil life monitor reaches 0 percent as I was already at 21 percent. He said the lube shop was closed but if Shane said ok he would take the truck over to the main shop and do it. When Shane came back in I asked him if he could do a quick oil change. He said "oh you want a quick oil change " like oil changes are major undertakings then he said nope we are closed for the day. He did ask my oil life percent which I told him and he said you have 1500 miles left. I said I don't run it out and I do changes every 5000 miles. His attitude was well to bad we are closed. The service hours for Saturday are until 5:00 pm. Seems like a service that takes roughly 30 minutes could have been completed. If this was my business I would have taken care of the customer especially since many employees were just standing around and some were tiding up. Only the one person said I'll do it if Shane says it's ok. I wish I got his name. Well Shane thanks for nothing but I will be passing through again in a few days and I will be sure to stop by and say hi to you and the service manager and if that's you then the next guy up the food chain.
