I live in Key Largo & had a meeting in Tav. Stopped here on my way home specifically to buy Breyers Carb Smart ice cream bars. Publix KL only carries one flavor. Here had all 4 varieties made! I stocked up & bought 5 boxes. The store was busy but had ample cashiers as well as all self check out registers open. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. I wish Key Largo had a nice Winn Dixie like this one to compete with the over priced Publix. read more

I used to be a Strictly Publix guy, until, they lost sight of reasonably priced groceries. This particular Winn Dixie is everything a great grocery store should be. Well stock, large variety, Good prices & Great specials with you typing in your Winn Dixie membership #, (simple your cell phone #) They keep awesome hours 7am to late of 11pm daily. Lots of Florida Keys essentials, from Modelo Chelada Beer, grab n go sandwiches, to Snacks, and fresh shrimp or steaks to cook on your bbq. Checkout staff very friendly and helpful. This is pretty good for a Winn-Dixie. We stopped here for some drinks and snacks on our drive to Key West and from the outside, it didn't look like much, but inside had a slew of items that I haven't seen at our local Winn Dixie in Orlando. They had a lot more vegan and natural items than ours. We still had some time to drive, so we just loaded up on snacks and replenished our drinks. The parking lot is a bit weird and you just can't get close to the door for some reason. But I'm sure it serves the weary traveller as well as the locals well. It seems like Winn-Dixie is the grocery chain that I've seen the most in the keys, so maybe that's why they stock up on the healthier options. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of junk too. It's on the right (easy in and out) if you're driving TO Key West, not to far after the Blonde Giraffe which had our favorite Key Lime Pie of the trip. When visiting Key Largo this Winn-Dixie is the closest grocery store to my aunt and uncles house. So naturally, I always find myself there for essentials on a weekend in the keys. There is a liquor store attached to it, so truly all the essentials for a beach weekend are in one place. I feel like people have a lot of misconceptions about Winn-Dixie but I find it to be one of the best, affordable and consistent shopping experiences for groceries both on and off the island. Show me a better grocery store for stocking up on wine? It doesn't exist - because the rewards program here is so great and sales are ridicccc! Winn-Dixie is Winn-Dixie - they have awesome BOGO specials, pretty affordable produce and a great selection of meats for the grill. Anyone who shops at Winn-Dixie should most definitely have the customer rewards card. Why? Well - without it you are missing out on serious savings. For instance - a pack of churrasco for the grill without the card would have been $26. This weekend it was $12 with the card - a total no brainer. I always get churrasco from here. It is delicious and always a great deal. Also things like Bud Light Seltezer and other wines are sometimes BOGO if you have the card. Again - not signing up for this program is 100% leaving money on the table. Is Winn-Dixie the most beautiful of shopping experiences. No. But is it always a steal, and easy to find more than what you came to for? Absolutely. There are ample registers as well as a good amount of self checkout registers as well. I love that the store is open until 11:00 pm. I can always get the cat food specials for my herd. Never out of sale items. If I run late, they have stayed until 11:15 so I can get everything I need. I was a little worried about what our visit would be like after reading reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. I happened to stop by at this store on my way to Key West.the employees were pretty friendly . I was greeted by this friendly young lady name Taylor. I was searching for a particular item that was gluten-free. I ask this man in the produce but he seems to not speak any English. So I walk to the customer service desk and I see this young lady so I asked her where it could be. She said she had no idea but she will walk around to see if she can find someone that knew or she will search for it herself. So we're walking around the whole store and she's pretty friendly she asked me how my day was and where was I visiting from. Finally she finds the items for me . I thanked her for her kind service because she was the only one that went out of her way to help me find this item. Her name was Tameka. She was very Nice and very helpful. I needed a bunch of churrasco and wine so I made a stop at this grocery store. Their produce section has plenty of sales and weekly deals making my trip here a total bargain. I grabbed potatoes, meat, chips, cheese, wine, fruit, and some eggs for a well-planned weekend of eating and drinking in the Florida Keys. I prefer Winn-Dixie many times for their variety on packaged foods despite their less than optimal deli section. They don't carry all the vegetable based chips I usually flock towards but they keep me happy with the baked Ruffles they had an endless supply of. The fire logs here are a definite win because they also help keep mosquitoes away during chill nights of fishing and drinking. I do enjoy the cold brew coffee sold in the dairy section because of its high-grade roasted flavor perfect for the morning boost you need to maximize your time in the Keys. read more

This is my go-to grocery store in the northern keys. It's cheaper than Publix and higher quality. This store, in the Tavernier Towne Plaza, is huge! It's got a great selection of fresh, canned/boxed, bakery, and seafood to choose from. The SE branded foods are their store brand, and pretty good! Produce is also decent and pretty fresh. Produce has always been subpar same for the customer service and the store never seems clean. Shopping this morning I noticed more people now wearing masks inside store. Soon arriving home I found out about Winn-Dixies updated mask policy. I will no longer be shopping at any Winn-Dixie. Got food poisoning from a rotisserie chicken. Went in to pick up a toilet wand caddy. There was a box opened up on the shelf with an incomplete kit. I asked the manager he said that's all they had. Rusty carts. Mold in the ceiling and air vents. Bought som tortilla chips they were stale. I will never understand why they let this store get to these conditions very few big box stores. I'm going to be driving extra to get to Publix even though I want to support business in tavernier. read more

Entering the store you are channeled between a service counter and the self checkout stations. It is narrow and often customers and employees are standing next to the counter making it difficult to get by. Some aisles are crowded with product making it difficult to navigate like Walmart at Christmas. I received a coupon on the app but when I got to the checkout I couldn't locate it and neither could the an employee. Difficult store to shop at. read more

One of them was salty for whatever reason and I wanted to return it, the only one that they had at that time was a larger sized one but it was still buy one get one free. Shopping at the Winn-Dixie store in Tavernier consistently provides a generally horrible shopping experience. It has to be top down. I stopped in on 01/10/19 to pick-up a few things. It took me over 10-15 minutes just to get through the check-out and I did not buy everything I wanted to buy. Why? 1 The bread rang up for something like $3.29, the sign for the bread said $1.99. The girl checked and it should have been $1.99. 2 The napkins rang up for $1.29, the sign read $1.20. The girl checked and it should have been $1.20. 3 The tomatoes rang-up for $2.99/pound and they should have been something like $1.99/pound. The girl checked and the lower amount was correct. I did not buy the tomatoes because the girl and the Supervisor told me that they could not adjust the price at self checkout that I would need to go wait in line at a regular check-out. I didn't have the time to go wait in another line as it was it took me over 25 minutes to buy 5 items with 2 of them having the wrong pricing. read more

Great store with excellent customer service. They've ordered items we've requested that we're not carried by the local store and make every effort to accommodate. When no one had T.P. they did great job of keeping some on the shelves. Unfortunately some customers don't understand the keys and have unrealistic expectations like the yelper Alexandra who was upset because the store didn't open right at 6:00am. Who buys grocery's at that time anyway. She should have done her groceries then night before if it was so important that 6:10 wasn't acceptable. read more

Picture this: New Year's Eve - restocking the shelves in the middle of the day with enormous amounts of customers unable to push their cart through most aisles and a clerk checking you out breaks your bananas... but yet still charges you without hesitation. Dear Winn Dixie, You are always on the way to our boat rental place, so you become THE morning stop to fill the coolers with all the yummy goodness that we are going to need to survive a day on the Sandbar. This particular store is HUGE. Probably bigger than any Winn Dixie I've ever seen. They have a huge wine section, which I found quite surprising. And a lot of beer coolers (YAY!)! Also, their produce section is rather large as well. The deli is lacking, in that it is small and it takes them forever to make a sub. Publix definitely has the Deli thing down to a science! So your best bet to is grab something ready made or to get cold cuts from the packages. The bakery always has tons of fresh stuff, although not as much as Publix, but you can still get bagels, muffins, etc., which make an easy breakfast on the go. They also have a good selection of water products, from umbrellas, to water shoes, to sunblock, to beach dresses. Good place to stop and stock up for the boat! Thanks Winn Dixie. Look there is no other way to say it - shopping at Winn-Dixie is a nightmare. The current ad reads Broccoli/Cauliflower 2 for $5, however, at the register the broccoli does not ring up as on sale. The cashier says it's not on sale. It's not worth arguing - I won't be buying broccoli. The sign on the onions reads 3lb for 2.99, in the entire bin there is only 1 type of bagged onions, I get to check out and it's 2 lbs! Always buyer beware with Winn-Dixie. I can't use WD coupons at self- check out and then when I use them at the register - I'm supposed to get 5X the Plenti points, but the receipt doesn't show it. The girl says not all of my items qualified. I ONLY BOUGHT PRODUCE so now I'm supposed to check and see what of my produce purchased my tomatoes, lettuce, red cabbage, or cauliflower qualify for Plenti points?!? What a joke. Then, to add insult to injury, tonight I cut-up 2 of the 2lb onions I bought yesterday and one of them is rotten inside. Seriously?!? Even worse is your "Customer Service" manager Annier, he puts Lottery ticket purchases above regular customers. I had the worst experience shopping at this store in Tavernier FL! The blackberries I wanted were moldy - sketchy selection of many item. I got a BBQ chicken that tasted like they smoked the crap out of it - WAY too smokey & no BBQ flavor. Then when I got to the check out the girl kept saying things like "this store blows, this is the worst store I have ever worked at in my life & it just kept going......she double bagged everything - which pissed me off especially when I realized she only put 1 item in many of the bags!!! I went in the store tonight to get one gallon of ice cream. Only one cashier was working in the whole store and four people were in line with full grocery carts. There is no 15 items or less checkout lane. No one was at the Customer Service desk and the self-checkout machines accept credit cards only...I only had cash. I'm not about to stand in line for 12 to 13 minutes wearing a mask to buy one gallon of ice cream. Winn-Dixie has lost this Tavernier resident's business for good. And for crying out loud, drop the mask policy and stop the insanity. Publix it is from now on. read more

Unfortunately I have to file a complaint against Winn-Dixie store#328. As I had purchased a fresh loaf of "Dave's Killer Bread", so I thought, only to get home and open it and see the mold that had taken over the entire loaf. I understand vendors oversee this area but this now makes more than one occasion in many different departments that I have found old and expired food. When I buy foods I always reach to the back of the stack to gain the freshest product. As food products are rotated or should be to keep the oldest and most likely to expire first up front to sell sooner I have been finding just the opposite at this store. The oldest product is pushed to the back, in another instance of mine concerning bagged lettuce, and the new is placed in the front? I have watched the produce department also put out fresh boxes of tomatoes, potatoes, etc... on top of already soft, leaking, damaged and rotten product. I have monitored this behavior for over 8 months now and can barely stand to go into this store and shop period! I've even gotten old, smelly and slimy deli sliced meat. $9 a lb. at that! This one store is responsible for allot of people local and tourists alike because of its location and nothing else being available. Publix has become a more trusted source for my food purchases even though the drive is twice as far and twice as long with traffic. Something has happened at this store, it used to be a lot better. Unfortunately I am cancelling my membership with Winn-Dixie at this time and using all sources of media to share this gross negligence.
