a view of a grocery store

This Winn-Dixie is almost as exceptional as Whole Foods! This store (I think) was the prototype for the new Winn-Dixie design concept. The store is uber clean, very organized, has fresh products, and very good customer service. Lots of locally grown produce can be found here. The store is a great grocery store to shop at with its exposed-beam ceilings, wood and concrete flooring, and huge glass exterior entrance. In addition to the usual grocery store items they also have a Louisiana Local section, an outdoor farmers' market area with organic and natural foods, a wing bar, a yogurt bar, and wood-burning rotisseries, I love this Winn-Dixie!

This is my favorite Winn Dixie location. It's the nicest one I've seen and it's huge. Winn Dixie has the best deals especially with the Plenti Card. Everyday they offer hot food with barbecue chicken and lots of side options. It really is great for a night when you don't want to cook. Also fresh sushi is made twice a day for lunch and dinner. I'm a self-proclaimed sushi connoisseur and for grocery store sushi this place kicks ass! Seriously try it! What's the best thing about any Winn Dixie? It's for sure the bakery! Their homemade pies are seriously heavenly. They have the small single size pies and the average size pies with every flavor you could imagine. If you only get one thing from here make sure it's a pie!

    Piggly Wiggly - Produce aisle

    Piggly Wiggly

My husband has never been to a Piggly Wiggly, and while we were in town visiting my parents, he…read morewanted to drop in. While the prices are higher than Winn Dixie (which also has high-priced produce compared to Texas), the liquor selection is remarkable. We had fun going down the aisles and checking out the odds and ends. My husband bought a bottle of whiskey, and he can't wait until our next visit to drop in again. I was brought back to my high school days when I would drop in and kill time wandering around the store.

Located in historic Madisonville, Piggly Wiggly is not what you'd call a fancy grocery store. What…read moreit is however, is a great example of a small town grocery. I love old grocery stores. I think it is because they remind me of childhood vacations to Grand Isle where we visited the Safeway before settling in at the camp. That grocery store, like this Piggly Wiggly wasn't fancy, but it made you feel welcome. On this trip I just needed a few items that would have been available at any drug, convenience, or large grocery store. I stopped here because it was on the way home, plus I figured I would enjoy the store and I most certainly did. There are only 4-6 aisles in this store and each is packed with items to maximize space. There is a small produce area, deli and larger liquor area. Apparently Madisonville likes their booze. The produce was fresh and fairly priced, but don't expect the selection you'd find at a larger store. I bought bananas and pears, both of which were devoured by my children soon after bringing them home. I didn't buy any of their meat this trip, but they had a good variety of freshly packaged meat available. They even had frog legs and stuffed chickens available. Speaking of kids, if yours are the rambunctious type, they may bump into things as they twirl to the imaginary music in their heads. I lucked out that mine saved that behavior for the parking lot, but the aisles are somewhat narrow so use caution. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this old style neighborhood grocery. I doubt it will become my regular store, but I will be sure to stop in whenever I'm passing through and need a few items.

First, browsing the (ever diminishing) fishing section, I noticed that approx half of the rods and reels were either missing the reel handle or HALF THE WHOLE ROD. Upon asking an assistant, they informed me they were still full price, would not mark down, and that they "throw the extra parts away". Now that it was evident I wasn't hitting the water, I moseyed over the electronics to pick up an Xbox controller. Where on the app, it says 53.99 and in store listed at 64. Asked the "assistant" and was told "I'll give it to you for whatever it rings up as" and promptly dismissed me to continue gossip with a coworker. After this hour long ordeal, I've done nothing but wasted time and lost all hope in Walmart. But at least I didn't spend the money!

I had $155 in my account and I put a grocery order in and about 1 day later it got cancelled by Walmart. I figured it was a glitch so I put it in again and the same thing happened so I text the store and the girl I was talking with told me to wait 12-24 hours before I make my next order and she gave me a $10 coupon, so I do that and it happens again. I started all this the first week of January. This happened 4 times all together with me talking to various people via text. I could not even get a phone number to speak to someone in charge it was all in text. My last order took place on January 29, 30 and 31st with me begging them to get it right and asking them what do I need to do to prove anything and this lady young lady told me she would have the people that handle these problems make mine a priority. I was supposed to get a call the evening of the 30th or the 31st and to this day NOTHING! It's now the 9th of February and the only email I received is to rate the girl I spoke with. Absolutely unacceptable. I will boycott this place forever!!
