It is Sunday 7/12/2026, I purchase, this morning, breakfast from Piggly Wiggly and there was egg shell pieces and black carbon from the pot/grill used to cook the scrambled eggs. The cheese grits was not cheesy and both it and regular grits were visibly undercooked. There also was no butter for the grits or biscuits available. The manager was told but visibly seemed annoyed when the young clerk in the kitchen inquired regarding the butter. The smirk paid to her and me set me back. I purchased the breakfast anyway. Upon my second bite of the grits and eggs I crunched on a significant piece of egg shell. Okay, I took another bite and bit into another piece. As I am filling out this review I am still spitting out pieces of the egg shell. I hated to take the breakfast back but at the price I paid for it I feel my money could be spent cheaper somewhere else. I love Piggly Wiggly but I will not pay for slop. I know they can do better because I have bought their breakfast many times before and have not had any issues with the quality. Portions can sometimes be lacking but not an issue for me. My main concern is cleanliness and quality of the food I purchase.
Management attention to care and training of its new employees in the kitchen would be a plus. To act indifferent to the employee and the customer is not an acceptable business practice. read more
