I usually don't comment with competitor options, but, if you want the best Boudin in the state of Louisiana, it's not too far from this place T-Rey's is so much better. I would hope this place would start looking at their products and putting a little bit more care into it.

As a child growing up in New Orleans I remember by grandfather from New Iberia coming to visit frequently. I have a lot of fond memories from his visits, but one of the things I remember is applicable to this review. Whenever he would arrive he would have several gifts for the family. I'm not talking about traditional gifts either. He would bring several packs of boudin and hogs head cheese from a local New Iberia shop. That must have had a lasting effect, because since then, I am on a never ending quest for good boudin and head cheese. I was on such a quest just the other day when I noticed Boudreaux's. The moment I walked in, I knew I was in the right place. There were coolers filled with stuffed chickens, roasts, pork loins, gumbo, étouffée and all other sorts of Cajun delights. In the fresh counter is where I focused my attention and will elaborate on a few items. Boudin - fresh, homemade and with the perfect combination of meat and rice. It had a slight kick, but not to overwhelming. Stuffed chicken thighs - stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. $375 for around 30 minutes covered and 20 uncovered. Oh my goodness gracious was this delicious. Even if you don't normally like thighs, I strongly recommend this item. Smoked boudin - I don't remember smoked boudin when I was growing up, but what a great idea. Boudreaux's version was perfect. Smoked sausage with pepper jack cheese - whatever you do, but some of this sausage. The sausage is made and smoked in house and this is, without a doubt, the best smoked sausage I've ever had. I don't know how it hod hold up in gumbo or some other dish, but it is amazing on its own. The people working behind the counter were friendly and very helpful. If you're like me and miss the Cajun butcher shops of Acadiana, I recommend you take a trip to Boudreaux's.

3.5 stars. I had a…read morerandom craving for falafel. That's an easy enough craving to fix in New Orleans, but in Slidell? Not so much. I did some searches, found this place on Google, and decided to give them a shot. I was ordering for multiple people, so I ended up getting 2 po-boys, a falafel wrap, and baklava. One of the people who got a po-boy said it wasn't regular mayo on the po-boy, but rather either tahini or tzatziki. Now mind you, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but could be jarring for someone not expecting it. The falafel and baklava were mine. I thought that the falafel wrap was good: flavorful and saucy. It was a bit messy, but I seem to always make a mess when eating falafel sandwiches. I was excited about the baklava, but unfortunately it wasn't very good. Maybe it had been sitting for a while, I don't know, but the flaky pastry had lost some of its flakiness/crispiness and had become a bit chewy instead. One odd thing is that you get your food bagged at the checkout counter, which is separate from the food counter. This doesn't sound bad in theory, but meant I ended up carefully holding 3 hot sandwiches, a small takeout container, and a menu while waiting in line at the checkout counter. The man at the register was very friendly though, and recommended their chicken shawarma; I'll have to try that at some point. It bears mentioning that along with food and typical convenience store items, this place also has a meat counter/market. They sell things like raw steaks, ground meat, turkey wings, pork necks, chicken drumsticks, sausage, etc.

She scanned the item I had placed on the belt, I saw "insert card" on the card machine, so I inserted card. I saw that she obviously was having trouble with the order. So I said, politely "trouble with the computer?" She said nothing. Eventually she said " Take your card out", so I did. She then just froze, saying nothing, not moving. Then she picked up the phone there and said something. I then politely said, should I go to another check out?". She said nothing! Then another lady came up, and cleared the register. I saw "insert card", and asked her "Should I insert the card?" She said NOTHING. Eventually the order was completed, and was handed the receipt. I waited about 5 seconds to be told "Thank you", but she said NOTHING! So, I loudly said "You're Welcome!". She said nothing. As I walked off I said loudly "You should go to friendly school!" She said nothing. What an unfriendly and rude person!!!!!!! The reciept does not have her names on it, but "Supervisor #9033" . At bottom: C0124 #0128 15:21:02 10Feb2025. On November 10, 2021 I returned to the store and spoke with Dave the manager about my concern. As Dave guided me to the bakery area he asked a bakery associate to assist me . With an unprofessional attitude the associate responded to Dave "What?". As the associate approached the counter to assist me, I was asked " What did I want?" I was surprised at the disrespect to the manager and I was surprised at the disrespect to me the customer. Upon briefly discussing my concerns about the associates attitude with the manager I was then discredited for my concerns about the stale petit fours by another bakery associate. As I discussed my concerns with the associate about the stale petit fours, the associate proceeded to tell me how hard she work. REALLY!!!!!All I wanted were FRESH petit fours. I was told by the associate she could not promise me the other petit fours were not going to be fresher than the ones I was returning. REALLY!!!!! I was also told it's common practice for the petit fours to be rotated. My understanding of " ROTATED" is.... the fresh petit fours are put in the front of the display case and the not so fresh petit fours are moved to the back of the case. Therefore, we received " NOT SO FRESH" petit fours. What was really hilarious was they wanted to give me a refund and give me more " STALE" petit fours-after trying to discredit me about my concerns. Dave also suggested I listen to the poor ole bakery workers explanation of why I was given "STALE" petit fours. Wow!!!! Before leaving the store I requested the store owners name, the bakery associates names and the phone number of where the store owner could be reached. I called and left a message for the store owner to call me ASAP to express my concerns of how I was treated. The store owner returned my call. I wasn't surprised by the feedback I received from him. I requested an in person meeting with him to discuss with him about how I was treated. His response was " You were given your money back". Wow!!! This kind of behavior from associates and NOT So FRESH petit fours must be the norm at CASH SAVERS. I didn't want anything for free. I just wanted FRESH petit fours which my Uncle had already paid for. I WILL NOT shop at Cash Savers and I recommend you don't either! Apparently, Bobby Lishman doesn't care. He didn't want to hear my concern. I'm a BLACK woman
