Get anything on food bars EXCEPT Breakfast. It's really bad & $6.99/lb! Melissa is bakery is GREAT ask for her for your cakes. "Great food, service, gifts, alcohol options... ambiance is alright. Café where you sit down to eat could def be cleaner. Great bakery. Melissa does the best cakes! Def a great salad bar option to have & hot food, especially since Winn-Dixie closed & Salad Station is the only other healthy option here & a little pricey. Not an affordable grocery per say, but you get what you pay for & Rouses is a one-stop shop of quality for whatever gifting, hosting, entertaining, don't feel like cooking nights you have to do!" read more

Well first of all, in Slidell, it's this Rouses or some version of Walmart. It's the only real Deli in town. That being said the place is filthy. The layout of the store makes no sense. And don't make the mistake that I did and go first thing in the morning. If you do, the store is a wreck. There night crew leaves the store looking like it's been hit by a tornado. Also, they don't get up early enough to get fresh stuff from the deli. You have to go no earlier than noon with every other asshole in this crappy town and go scrap for whatever they might have. One time I went and got these pretty good chicken strips from the deli. That was months ago and I haven't seen them since. This place is run haphazardly by clowns with no discipline and no consistency. The only reason I gave 2 stars was bc they are the only alternative to Walmart which kills my will to live. Grocery shopping in an overcrowded town that has less choices than pre Katrina when there were half as many people. It's a low quality of life and this Rouses isn't making it better. Half ass. read more

Great selection, good prices, wide aisles, excellent customer service. Full Slab Friday and Sizzling Saturday very cool. Will be back.

Rouse's has a pretty good selection of just about everything. I appreciate that they focus on local, Louisiana products and businesses. The produce section is good. They carry a lot of organic produce which is nice. The liquor/booze section is impressive. Prices are comparable with the other grocery stores around. At peak times the parking lot is nutty and inside the store is a zoo. Checkout lines can get long but seem to move pretty quickly. The hot food offerings and rotisserie chickens are very good. read more

Well stocked, many choices, a little over priced which reminds me of the Vons grocery in the West. Very clean and organized.

I wish I have a supermarket like Rouses in CA. The produce is so fresh and looked like harvest around here. The bakery have the most amazing cakes. Wow, it looks like from a fancy bakery and the price is so great. In CA, the prices is way higher than here so I am happy to see the produces are affordable. The staffs are so nice and friendly. It is a pleasure to go grocery shopping. read more

It was late and I picked up in-store sushi. A California roll and some Sashimi. It was surprisingly good and fresh. Slice of cheesecake from the bakery- Yum A couple of great sale finds- avocados - 2 for $1, and cans of albacore tuna in water- $.97 ea. Otherwise, I found prices to be a bit high, and would not regularly shop here. Store was clean, organized, and friendly staff. read more

This store is just like your typical grocery store but with so much more things to offer besides groceries. Even though we were on a quick run for 2 things I managed to walk through the store and see what they had to offer. Next time I will make sure to bring my phone so I could take pics. They had quite a few child good staples and novelty's that I enjoyed as a kid; and still do if I'm in Louisiana to get them. The store was fully stocked, well lit, reasonably priced items, lots of deals, sales and the restroom was clean. I will be going back to shop and bring sometimes back to Texas that I missed. read more

It's December and suddenly, I had the major cravings for king cake. Mardi Gras season doesn't come by until January but I couldn't wait until then. I really wanted my hands on the king cake so I made a call out to the bakery department of Rouses. After a few minutes into the conversation, an order of the Bavarian stuffed king cake was placed for next day pick up! The moment it arrived home, I quickly went in for a wedge. Yup, not a slice but a very big cut of the cake! The light soft bread with swirls of cinnamon and sugar all throughout reminded me of a warm and fluffy cinnabun. The custard that is stuffed inside of the bread was slightly sweet and definitely velvety! Atop of the cake, sits a layer of icing that is generously sprinkled with multicolored sugar that represents the Mardi Gras theme. Very nostalgic! My palate and I would love to thank the staff who made the order possible. The king cake was so good that I couldn't stop praising how amazing it was to my family! read more

I love Rouse's so much and have reviewed them already...However this is a different Rouse's in my city and I check in here so I thought I could touch on some things I hadn't before. You should know that this location is in an old Albertsons. I don't love the layout, but you know, it is what it is. Rouses does lots of stuff right. They're local. They support local farmers, fisherman and companies. I love them for that. They have a sushi counter and their sushi is pretty damn good. You have the option of white or brown rice which is great, since we all known brown rice is better for you anyway. Their cakes are really, really delicious. I order all of my cakes from them. Their doberge cake is out of this world. The produce department is amazing. Always fresh and juicy. You're not going to find any bruised apples here. Rouse's rocks!! Did I mention that I love them? read more

I'd never been to the Slidell Rouse's before, but on investigation, it's a good-sized store, and one of the cleaner and more open ones. This store seemed to have an inordinately large area devoted to wine, if that's your thing, but the New Orleanian soft drinks I was seeking were in stock as well. I didn't have to wait to check out, which I usually do at most of the New Orleans Rouses. They had a curbside delivery lane set up for those who prefer not to shop in-person. For my needs, it was right near the local Creole bagel place, so that's good as well. No complaints about this store. read more

Great selection of basic groceries plus Louisiana and Cajun staples. I love the bakery!! Gentilly parfait cups are a must ! $4.99. I will go out of my way for that, or a bag of Leidenheimer's rolls. Put them in your freezer, and enjoy at your leisure- delicious crisp bread in five minutes! Produce is lovely, and it's the only place I know to find frozen butter peas. Store is clean, and employees are pleasant and seem happy to work here. Also, unique Louisiana themed gifts in the floral department just inside the door- fair prices. I love Rouse's!! read more

I love Rouse's. I love all of them. This particular one may seem a little underwhelming after visiting some of the "fancier" stores like the one in downtown New Orleans, but still a go-to supermarket. I'm always especially impressed with their more unusual foods, like Reaper cheese curls, and their wonderful bakery selections. The prices may be a bit on the higher end, but so are their products. Whenever I'm visiting an area that has Rouse's you can be sure I'll be stopping...even when I don't really need anything! read more

The only reason why Rouses gets 4 stars instead of 5, is because I gave 5 stars to Mizer's. Love me some Rouses fish tho

I have been a long time customer of Rouses's, and the quality of their food used to be top notch. Their prices were always a little higher, but I didn't mind due to the quality and freshness of their items. Recently though, their fresh salmon filets have not been very fresh at all. They aren't past the expiration date, but every time I've received one lately, the odor of the fish, upon opening, has made me slightly sick to my stomach. I'm not sure what the cause is, but I truly hope they remedy it. It makes me leery to get anything else seafood or meat related. Their bakery items are still as wonderful as always, though. read more

So much delicious local food. We were travelling from New Orleans to Pensacola when we decided to stop for groceries. They have a lot of gluten free items. We even bought cooked shrimp boil with potatoes and corn. Everything was delicious and fresh. Oh, and we bought a cool souvenir t-shirt! read more

Don't think I'm coming back. First, I asked about a brisket. And got a we don't have that. Then got told about the corned beef. Ok, mildly helpful I guess. But when I replied, nah too different he got snarky with "yeah I know, I was just telling you what we have." Not so much the words themselves but the way it was said... Then I had picked up a cheap grilling spatula. Of course, no price yeah. My family for not checking. I told the cashier the sign had said it was $4.99. She calls for a price check and lady was like " no, no way" and shaking her head. I tell her where it was and she walks off. We stand there, and she eventually comes back with the sign. So the sign said $4.99 but was for a BBQ brush. I was looking for one, and didn't see them... Though there was a whole line of spatulas. Then she tells the cashier, not me, "let him have it for that, but I don't know (the price)". Again not the words but the attitude. Guess working there must suck... read more

Great local grocer; you won't find better anywhere around here. Moreover, the fancy built-in deli/restaurant prepares some of my favorite sandwiches. My recommendation is the shrimp po-boy, lightly battered and fried right when you order. read more

I mainly come for their soups, salads, and fruit bar where you can make yourself. Their soups change about everyday which is great! Surprisingly their fruits and salads don't wilt which is always great. Oh, and their sushi are always fantastic! Rouses is such a great store all in all. Other than that some of the workers seem almost just rude and a bit racist. For instance , door greeters are suppose to greet their customers, so I thought. I was not greeted, yet the couple behind me were greeted. Cool! Then she rolled her eyes when I walked by! What have I done?!? Haha! Good thing I don't care much for door greeters. Not only this, but also the person at the register..! Totally did not say one single word to me, but to the gentleman in front of me and also the family behind me. Wow, I'm an American too folks. It's all good though, Rouses will still be my pick for fresh produce when I am in the area. read more

Sometimes a good store, but today, shouldn't have opened. Tried to get hot food st the deli checkout. No cashier, sir go checkout in the lines up front then come back to eat. The usual cashier is standing there filling shelves. Tyson fresh chicken breasts on sale. No luck. Frozen, freezer burnt, no skin left chunks of chicken-I think- some other brand. Was told that's all we have. Same price, but wasn't worth the sale price. Satsumas on sale, but had to go backstage and ask. He brought me a handful. ?? 99cents a pound. Bought a pound. Slowest cashier in captivity charged me $5 and called them limes, after I told her confused look that they were satsumas. Only 3 checkouts open with lines around. Gonna try a different grocer from now on read more

We stopped in Rouse's while passing through Louisiana, and really lucked out with this place. It's one of those adult food Disneylands. They have everything you could need, and then some. We went in for some water and fruits, and left with additions to our wine collection. They have a decent selection of organic products for those of us who shop that way. Finally, the staff was friendly and helpful. One gentleman looked at me in an incredulously comic way when I asked where could I get one of those Muffaletta sandwiches. He directed me to the delicatessen right there in the store. Since we had a craving for a burger and fries, we decided to hold off on the Muffaletta until our next trip through Louisiana. BTW, they actually sell legal moonshine in this store. I'm just saying! read more
