No shade thrown at the folks at Walmart. But the corporate policies that have resulted in disgruntled employees, long lines at checkout (self-checkout only), lack of stocked items, and just an in-general poor experience should be shelved. I'd try not shopping here, but I'm weak for soda and this is the only place I can get a 2-liter for a buck. I did get lucky and found jalapenos on the shelf, but this was the first time in the last 4 visits there were any available. It's our own fault, I know; the drive to save a penny for the consumer means cost-cutting everywhere except for the shareholders. Still, there are some friendly and helpful folks, and the store is clean and well-lit, and always an adventure - the layout seems like it constantly changes, and I took a long stroll until I finally found the al-you-mini-um ferl. Firstly, if I could review lower I would. Went to the Walmart supercenter on hwy 190 Friday the 1st and had the least productive, worst shopping experience in my 23 years of life. First, browsing the (ever diminishing) fishing section, I noticed that approx half of the rods and reels were either missing the reel handle or HALF THE WHOLE ROD. Upon asking an assistant, they informed me they were still full price, would not mark down, and that they "throw the extra parts away". Now that it was evident I wasn't hitting the water, I moseyed over the electronics to pick up an Xbox controller. Where on the app, it says 53.99 and in store listed at 64. Asked the "assistant" and was told "I'll give it to you for whatever it rings up as" and promptly dismissed me to continue gossip with a coworker. After this hour long ordeal, I've done nothing but wasted time and lost all hope in Walmart. But at least I didn't spend the money! read more

I have an insurance card that I get funds off of for groceries and this is on a month to month basis. This money goes away if it isn't spent every month. I had $155 in my account and I put a grocery order in and about 1 day later it got cancelled by Walmart. I figured it was a glitch so I put it in again and the same thing happened so I text the store and the girl I was talking with told me to wait 12-24 hours before I make my next order and she gave me a $10 coupon, so I do that and it happens again. I started all this the first week of January. This happened 4 times all together with me talking to various people via text. I could not even get a phone number to speak to someone in charge it was all in text. My last order took place on January 29, 30 and 31st with me begging them to get it right and asking them what do I need to do to prove anything and this lady young lady told me she would have the people that handle these problems make mine a priority. I was supposed to get a call the evening of the 30th or the 31st and to this day NOTHING! It's now the 9th of February and the only email I received is to rate the girl I spoke with. Absolutely unacceptable. I will boycott this place forever!! read more

Ordered one item for curbside pickup and it took them 40 minutes to get it out to me. It was actually a test to see how long it would take because I had never gotten curbside before, and I will surely never do it again. I visited this location while in town for the night and needing some basic things for my hotel room. The prepared foods section was nearly non-existent as so many other locations have some great stuff, so that was disappointing because I just needed a quick bite and a quick meal for the morning. Other than that, the store was well stocked and there were employees happy to assist. I headed to self check out because there didn't seem to be many open registers. While there the scale was not operating correctly, but the friendliest employee helped figure out what was going on and reset the scale. Your order is delayed, and when it's ready don't rush because you can't find a parking spot and when you do you'll sit there for 45 minutes waiting for your order. I asked an employee how much longer this was going to last and she didn't sound confident when she said, there trying to open it tomorrow. She said there were "restocking" which I find hard to believe when they erected a wall of thick plastic from floor to ceiling all way around the whole store except for the cashier area and the grocery department. This walmart reminds me of a post apocalyptic zombie movie. It's overcrowded since its the only walmart in covington or mandeville and the shelves are generally barren. I feel like I have to stock up on certain items since there's no telling whether or not it'll be there the next time I come. The employees in general come across as apathetic in most regards. They don't ask if you need help, if you can even find one, and don't even attempt to move out of your buggy's trajectory. 10/10 least pleasant shopping experience. Also, I'm from slidell and have worked at one of the 4 walmart locations. The ghetto one on airport dr. The shopping experience there far surpasses the "Everyday is black friday" atmosphere of the one doo doo covington location. I'm not a Wal-Mart fan but I glad it met the needs of trip ... Well, sort of. The set-up of this location is so backwards compared to the others I been too. I felt I was walking across the store each time I was looking for something. By the way, the staff needs to know what products Wal-Mart sells and the location of their products. For example, I asked "Where could find a painter cover-up? Like a cloth jumper to put over your clothes." I was informed they didn't carry it and I would need to look elsewhere. I searched up and down the painting section and FOUND IT behind an empty box on the top shelf next to the goggles, gloves and masks. A few days later I came back, I asked a young worker "Where can I find the empty boxes to package items for shipping?" Hilarious that the young worker told me he could ask his supervisor if I could take the empty boxes from the back. I thanked him and said that wouldn't work. Ok, so this place doesn't really suck all that bad. It really depends on what time of day you visit. Forget about coming here near lunch time on the weekends. It a freaking madhouse! the deli has some pretty decent food, great to keep the irritating kids quiet while you try to shop. What else can I say?? Cheap prices on stuff you actually use. electronics section is good for some things, but for real selection, you would do better at Best Buy. which brings me to this question... Why won't Wal-Mart sell CD's with a "parental advisement" sticker and yet they will sell rated "R" movies? Whatever? As a former employee of Walmart, I would like to say I am very disappointed. I originally worked at the Houma WalmartMove to Covington and needed to do a transfer. The Covington Walmart told me they would do a transferAnd get me rolled in that week, all I had to do was put it in the system and they would roll it over. 2 1/2 weeks later they say they are not taking me in whatsoever. That being said, I have missed out on a weeks worth of pay that I will not be getting. Walmart does not care and will not help you regardless of what situation you're in. Came in only for quarters and picked up a few things in the process, asked the manager for a roll of quarters, or any quarters for that matter, and got the service and attitude ...but do you expect any different from a Walmart? I have the utmost respect for essential workers and I never complain, but I encountered two workers last night, whose actions I feel need mentioning. I went to a self-checkout with a full basket, $360 worth of groceries. Two employees, both women, wearing yellow vests were there assisting customers in checkout. 1 was tall, brown hair, in 50s,facial expression was as if she was sucking a lemon while smelling a fart. 2 was gray hair, 60s, attitude like she hasn't been pleasured since Obama's first inauguration. I was purchasing groceries for a family in need and for myself. I was scanning and bagging my items separately from the ones I was donating. I, suppose, I was taking too long. 1 came and stood next to me, hovering, staring at me. 2, actually, started taking items and scanning/bagging, mixing up the items, ignoring Covid guidelines, standing very close to my face. I intended on delivering my donation to family, directly after purchase, but I had to go home and separate items, because 2 had bagged items together(she, also, put a bottle of wine in with loaf of bread, which got smushed). If customers are too slow checking themselves out, perhaps, Covington Walmart Supercenter should have more cashiers working. read more

Yeah. I've gone here for years and the doctors have always been nice but they never have my contacts anymore. What is more, I have vision insurance through work now and they refuse to take insurance on Saturday. To be clear, it is an insurance they do take. They just don't take any insurance on Saturday. I called my insurance on Saturday morning and got a live person who said he'd never heard of such a thing and gave me other providers in my area. I called and got another provider who would take my insurance on Saturday with no issue. I now have new contacts from that provider and will never darken the door of a Wal-Mart again. I can only assume that the no insurance on Saturdays thing is a scam to get people to pay them cash or something. Also, the staff is usually pretty good but the girl this morning looked at me like I had two heads or something before asking me if I wanted to see the doctor (no I don't have two heads or any other major deformities). read more

Amazing management team. They were very helpful and accommodating whenever I had questions. I love the store layout. They had employees organizing the shelves every time. It looks very well kept. I was mostly impressed by the bathrooms. Very clean and stocked with paper towels and toilet paper. The only spot in the store that'll need more attention will be the dressing room. read more

Even though the mom and pop stores are the best way to shop to help the local economy, it's still hard to beat the 'all in one place' stores like Walmart. Had to get my daughter her spare glasses today, and with no appointment, was out of there in less than an hour. Probably would have been quicker if she would have been able to make up her mind quicker. It does help that I live close to it as well. This is where I do most of my shopping primarily because I live in back of it directly across the street from it. If I had to drive to a grocery store I would opt for Rouses, Acquistipastis, or Whole Foods. Still it is a very short walk to Wal-Mart and it suits most of my simple needs. During Mardigras season I will make the longer walk to Rouses to buy my king cakes rather than buy them from Wal-Mart. For all of the years I have shopped here there is one problem that they never address. They are absolutely terrible at keeping items you consistently use on the shelf. Their prices are usually pretty good but I never use their brand. I find their brand to be of inferior quality compared to the name brand. read more

This place is horrible, the only good thing about them is that they're not disgusting overpriced. I go to them for a prescription and it's never easy with them. One time I got a text saying that my prescription was running out and to text back for a refill. When I went to pick it up, at a time that I was texted saying it would be ready, the place didn't even have the refill started and I had to go a day without my medicine. More recently though, I called and asked them to send a new prescription request to my doctor and they we're all "sure, no problem" I talked with my doctor (days later) and she said she never got the request. I had to call back (the same man answered, it's always the same pharmacist unfortunately) and he acted like I didn't just have the same conversation with him days ago. I don't know, I feel like someone that's handling so many peoples prescriptions should be more on top of their game or at least not lie to their customers. read more

This is specifically about the ripoff auto service at this Walmart: we were ripped off. In town visiting family, helped a friend with her car. AAA came out to give a jump to our dead battery, They said it was too drained to be recharged by driving around. They suggested taking it to be recharged by Walmart. They did not mention anything about the situation under the hood being strange. Left the car at Walmart. When picking it up, they said the old battery tested as bad, needed to be replaced. New battery: $99. The previous battery was a one-year old Walmart battery. They did not offer a prorated credit for the old battery. And, they said that the metal parts that "tie-down" the battery - hold it in place - were loose under the hood. You would think that the two AAA guys would have mentioned that - so I don't think that happened before I left it at Walmart. So, it happened AT Walmart. So, either Walmart ripped us off and made up this crazy story, or Walmart allowed someone else to come into the area and steal the original battery. The bottom line is: go to this place and you will be ripped off. Avoid this Walmart auto service center. read more

I came in late Saturday afternoon to shop and realized that they had an auto department. One of my tires has been given me trouble, constantly being low on air. So, I decided to have them check it out. I brought my car in. The guy at the check in was very nice, fast and polite. He checked me in and took my car, telling me it was going to be less than 30 min. Wow!! It was just what he promised, below 30 min and they were calling me, telling me that my tire had a manufacturing defect and that I should exchange it for a new tire where I bought it. They also checked all 4 of the tires. I would highly recommend them. The store (Walmart) was also very clean, had a lot of merchandise and people who worked there all were nice and professional. I count this as one of my good Walmart experiences. read more

I have came to this location on 3 separate occasions to get something from the jewelry counter. Today was the third time I came and just like the past two times there was no employee to be found. Each time I have stood at the counter for a few minutes and then when no one shows up I go find an employee somewhere on the floor and ask if they know where the person working the jewelry counter is at or if they could help me. All three times I have gotten a "I don't know she may be on her break, I'm not really sure" (which after three tries I'm thinking they're for sure not on break every single time I go), in the most I don't care attitude I've ever heard. Then they just walk away without even giving me time to answer them like they don't want to be bothered. After asking them, I have then gone and stood back by the counter for an additional 10 minutes or so and still no luck, I just end up leaving. I never write reviews but this has just been frustrating as I I've gone out of my way three times now to come here only because the Slidell location does not carry what I am looking for and still have not had any luck. read more

I generally like Wal-Mart, but this one is comprised of staff that have terrible customer service. The only exception is Garden area associates tend to be pretty nice. Electronics staff needs to be replaced... Rude,rude,rude on more than one occasion.
