Gotta love the lizard. Great bar atmosphere with plenty of brews to choose from. Also tvs everywhere for viewing sports. And the free popcorn is a hit to go with the beer. Their wings are great, Im not a big fan of their ribs but a lot of folks order them. My favorite is the chopped lizard salad, made the "old way" with iceburg lettuce instead of "greens". Haven't tried the pizza at this location, but at other locations its always been very good which pleasantly surprised me. Service is always friendly and prompt. So glad there is an arrow to show where the front door is. A large parking lot is in the back with an entrance. This very large restaurant has several dining rooms. Nice for large groups. The host was friendly and welcoming. We got to choose where we wanted to sit. The menu has lots of variety for better bar food. I had the five wings with Mac & cheese. I really enjoyed it. This place has 3 star food, but a five star beer list. First, the food. I got ten wings and a side of fries. The wings were just ok. They were Nashville Hot sauce, but it wasn't spicy. Every time the bartenders are extremely nice, the beer list is great, the atmosphere is amazing, & the food is perfect comfort food. Got the Santa Fe Mesa Chicken Salad & it was phenomenal. Great amount of food. Honestly only complaint would be that they could do away with one of the sides of the dressing. I'd like to save them some money & nobody needs 4oz of dressing. Service was not so great. Nobody with smiles on their face or happy to serve. I felt like I was an inconvenience being there. When you first walk in near their cellar, there's a smell of mustiness and mold. It's very unappealing. The restaurant itself could use a good scrub down. The food is average at best. If you like low-carb or anything relatively healthy, this is not the restaurant for you. They did offer chicken wings, most of which were only the wing part not the better half. I was hoping for a dry rub that has no sugar in it, most places carry that, such as a little paprika or garlic or onion powder, etc. unfortunately, they didn't have any dry rub. They only had high sugared sauces for their wings. It appears that nothing is made from scratch here. I asked about the onion rings and found out that they're purchased frozen and flash fried. The only thing that's nice about this restaurant is that it's right along the bike snd hike trail. There's a bike rental store across from this restaurant. A fairly nice local chain, you can count on this to fill your belly and serve reasonably good pub food. Burgers, sandwiches and wings are the fare that will bring you back on a cold winter day. I had visited this place in downtown Cleveland, but never on the outskirts and visited this location twice in two days during my hotel stay in the area. Sat at the bar both times, and my bartender who is the same person each day was very friendly and attentive. They have a pretty large menu with some specials and they have a full bar & LOTS of beers on tap & in bottles/cans. I had the Hanson burger the first night & a chicken Philly (which was which was nothing like a chicken Philly in Philadelphia I might add , but still good). I was there for happy hour and they do have drink specials and there was a dollar off 9 ounce pours and surprisingly their house Pinot Grigio is pretty good. Alright, let me set the scene for you. it was a late evening, everyone was hungry as well as cranky and perhaps a tad snippy. we had settled on the winking lizard establishment after much consideration, to be the place we nourished ourselves. two of us waited at the front to be seated, and the others - myself included- made a trip to the ladies lavatory. my friend was in need of feminine hygiene products, and they did not have pads or tampon dispensers, disappointing. the stalls were rather cramped, but otherwise clean, and they got the job done. we then returned to the other two who were waiting to be seated, by this point in time, 20 minutes had lapsed. mind you, the entire restaurant was empty. after 20 long and grueling minutes, we were finally brought to a humble table. the table was sticky and dirty, but we sat nonetheless. our waitress came to our table to take our orders, and she was giving me and my companions very rude looks as we ordered, it made us severely uncomfortable. we ordered, and around twenty to twenty five minutes later, we received our orders. two of us were missing fries, and one was missing pickles. finally, we received the missing fries and pickles. we promptly dug in. the burger was raw, pink, and cold in the center, we ordered it 'well' done. the hot wings were not spicy, the fries were underdone, and the buns were stale and crusty. we sent the burger back, told the waitress about our predicament, and she did not send her condolences or apologize for the undercooked food. we completed our meals, and by this time there were many flies flying around the restaurant and it was not very nice. the waitress came back and was still acting rude, unprofessional, and dismissive about our concerns. by that time we paid, and left the establishment. in conclusion, I was severely discouraged upon my exit, as were the rest of the members of my group. some of the ways I felt may fall into the description of, dejected, disappointed, disgruntled, unhappy, bogged down, frustrated, and confused. one star because the claw machines were fun. read more

It looks like it's a very famous chain in OH, it kept coming up on our search so we went, I guess we expected it to be a little more. I have eaten here a number of times but over a span of many years. So maybe 4-5 times over 25 years. This place is a local institution. Its part of the fabric of not only Peninsula but the Cuyahoga Valley. The location is fantastic, at the bottom of the hill on 303 near the river. There is a public parking lot a short walk down the river. You can ride your bicycle or hike all day and finish up here for dinner or a beer. Century Cycle is across the tracks for your bike needs. Blossom is down the road. The environment is rustic sport bar and cozy, very fitting to the Valley. The service is usually OK. The area that really hurts the rating is the food. The food quality seems to have dropped. A recent experience really fueled a lower rating, with Fish and Chips having below average taste as well as a hamburger and fries. I will update this review if I eat again and have a better experience. But this place is still fun to go to for a beer and there may be other things on the menu that taste better. read more

We made the mistake of going here at 6:30pm on a Tuesday with a group of 9, and insisting we all sit together. So the wait was like an hour, all our choice! Once we were seated and told our waitress it would be one check it was quick accurate friendly service. She had second drink orders taken and delivered before our food got there, and the appetizer I ordered was there between the first drink was finished. I got the wings with a honey mustard sauce with a house side salad. Ordered the lizard freckles too, as an appetizer. Good wing size, cooked correctly, and coated in a sweet honey mustard sauce. House salad was fresh, and a nice portion. Lizard freckles, are breaded fried pickles with ranch, great pickle to batter ratio. Huge, huge, huge beer selection, wow! We missed happy hour, due to our wait, our poor planning, and no one would go to the bar to start a group tab, boo. My only disappointment was you can't get "split sauces" on a wing order....so I guess next time I can move up the heat scale to gold finger. Great neighborhood bar. Although it's a chain, that's what we like about it. The food is consistently good and we know what to expect. I love the weekly pizza and wing specials. I tried a couple cider beverages along with a nachos appetizer, which was delicious. The pear cider was light and refreshing. For dinner, I ordered a chicken salad, which was fresh and excellent. During our trip to Cuyahoga National Park, we initially went to Winking Lizard at Peninsula but their wait time was like 40mins so, we went to Fisher's instead. However, we had a chance to be in the area the very next day and got lucky to get a table without any wait time. Tried Chicken Caesar salad, Vegetarian Pizza, boneless wings, bbq chicken club sandwich and cookies - cream pie. All items were cooked to perfection with generous quantities. The kids had a great time, staff was fantastic and the food is good. There is plenty to keep children occupied while waiting for a table, 12 TV screens in the dinning section (don't know how many in the bar seating half of the building), and plenty of sports and rock memorabilia. This location has a huge iguana that the kids loved. We were disappointed that we were too soon to get the Fat Tuesday Madi Gras selections from the menu because they sounded phenomenal! (Menu specials seem to be Thursday - Sunday. We were there on Valentine's Day and there weren't any specials other than the typical Tuesday night wing deal.) I was able to get a seat at the bar on a pretty busy Thursday night during Covid. I was served a beer and able to order really quickly. It unfortunately that's where the good service ended. It took an incredibly long time to get a cup of soup and some like warm hot wings that were still pretty good.
