My wife and I were looking for something simple and she had heard that the Chicken Coop had great…read morechicken. Not a short drive but thought we would try it. The reviews on Yelp had been mixed but why not? I did see it is best to order before you arrive since chicken is cooked to order and takes a little time. We ordered there and it did take a bit as promised, but to be served hot and fresh fried chicken was worth the wait. And it was that. My guess is that the chicken had never been frozen, was juicy and tasty. The crust was not thick but well seasoned and when coupled with the crisp skin, was very good. My only beef were the sides. I did see that one reviewer called them afterthoughts and that may be a little harsh but they were disappointing. We didn't try them all but the potatoes were instant and the green beans were from a can. Maybe the other sides are better. We did have fried okra and hushpuppies as extras and even though probably from frozen, they were pretty good. I'm an old Southern boy, growing up on friend chicken and a host of freshly cooked sides that complement the main event. I guess you have to experience those killer family meals to know what sides should be like. And I have, but as to the Chicken Coop, I will go back, try different sides but the folks there really need to get in the game with some killer dishes. I know it would take a little effort but given the good quality of the chicken, seems like it would only enhance the experience. As to the facility, it is a reclaimed Taco Bell and showing its age. It was clean and the owners are doing a good job with it, but don't expect a fine dining experience. Give it a try. The folks there may have growing pains but seem to care.

Expansive beer list, cocktails, including mimosa flights, and drinks to go (in Capri Sun form). Food was quick, hot, and everything so good. I would def come back if we are in the area.

With all the drink options, I can see this being a chill spot in the evening. I only ordered catfish and it was $20 with tax for two fillets. That's a bit high to only have fries as an option. But that's just me; I'm not a fan of fries and would've paid a slight upcharge for one of their sides (but I was not willing to pay an extra $6 for just one side). I've had Vailes before so I knew the taste would be good which is why I didn't have trouble making the choice of catfish. Just would've liked more with it for that cost.

There are plenty of comfortable places to sit indoors and cool off, which was especially appreciated during the recent heat wave. A few weeks ago, I took my daughter and a group of her friends, and it was the perfect outing. They were able to stay active, have fun together, and escape the extreme heat at the same time. One thing that really stood out was how friendly everyone was. None of the girls were pickleball experts, and every now and then their ball would end up on a neighboring court. The people playing nearby were incredibly kind, patient, and understanding, which made the experience even more enjoyable. If you're planning to go, I definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially during busy hours. Overall, it's a great place to spend a few hours with family or friends, and we'll definitely be back!

The menu has some fun options,…read moreand the concept of combining food with games and activities is definitely unique, but the meal itself didn't leave a strong impression. The biggest issue was the service. It was pretty slow throughout the visit, and the experience became frustrating when we were approached about leaving even though we were still actively eating. That made the visit feel rushed and took away from the relaxed atmosphere you'd expect from a place designed for hanging out. I like the idea behind Chicken N Pickle, and I think it has potential as a social spot, but the service and overall experience could use improvement. Fun concept, but slow service and feeling rushed while still finishing our food made it a less enjoyable visit.

But - when pulling up the menu, we couldn't decide on what we wanted to get and their roasted chicken takes an hour wait (which means we get freshly roasted chicken.) We ended up with a good lunch: beef/lamb gyro bowl, gyro sandwich, and hummus. Bro - the gyro bowl was BIG that I needed help from my husband to eat it. It was covered in white sauce, the meat slices were generous, and the rice was so nicely cooked and fluffy. My husband loved the gyro and was REALLY into the tzatziki. The hummus was so good, but it was much more than chickpeas. It was topped with an herb that I couldn't place, and I swear it had orange blossom in it.
