There were a few groups/families upon arrival, but there was also a bit of a wait. I suspect everything was made to order and TRUST ME, the wait was worth it. It came out piping hot and so so delicious. I CLEANED the bones. And had I not taken a breath, I would've finished it all, but I couldn't. I was stuffed. Omgggggggggg!!!!! We love this place. We tried it for the 1st time back in October at a birthday party and had been trying to get over to St. Charles for awhile to get some more. Now peep this..........when we initially tried their fried chicken it was room temperature, might as well say cold. We arrived a little late to the party but when I tell you this chicken was good cold. We took some chicken home and reheated it in the trusty toaster oven.....not the air fryer even though we have one and JUST LIKE THAT it was revived to it's former glory. We stopped in Saturday night to pick-up some eats to go. The owner (the lady) was working the front counter while hee husband was in the kitchen cooking up a storm. When I tell you how incredibly sweet and kind this lady was........omgggggggggg We ordered the 4 pice wing special with fries and a 3 pice bresst combo that included two sides so we went with the beer battered onion rings and family recipe Mac-N-Cheese that was made with jalapeños and red peppers I think. We opted for only the hot sauce as a condiment. EVERYTHING is made to order so there is usually a 20 minute wait. No problem we left and went to Aldi down the street. We returned and our food was ready, hot as fish grease and DELICIOUS as ever. We had leftovers of course which we ate Sunday morning for breakfast and Monday morning. We found our new favorite chicken spot. We're working our way through the menu, want to try the fried catfish and other sides as well. I've been recommending this spot ever since. I was surprised and expecting more as Chicken Coop was recommended by a friend. Since I was close to the restaurant I had high hopes as it would have been great to have a local place with good eats. The staff was not very friendly and the food was okay. Not bad, but not great. I did enjoy the jalapeños poppers but I also ordered chicken wings and fries. The chicken had too much breading on it and the fries did not taste fresh. The restaurant seemed overdue for a fresh coat of paint and building maintenance or just the appeal of the spot. I had been wanting to try this place and have heard good things so when my sister suggested we order it to go I immediately went online and placed an order. We both got the chicken strips which came with sides and I ordered an extra side because I couldn't decide. We tried mashed potatoes w/gravy, coleslaw, baked beans and fries. None of it was great especially for price. The baked beans were the best of everything we tried. The chicken was definitely fresh not some frozen product but the coating/breading wasn't great. Did a midweek takeout from here. Food was hot, but in our opinion, a step below Hobo's in taste in coating, and sides. Kids meals were a hit for our grandkids, coming with a little fruit cup and drink. While the chicken was crisp, definitely lacked spices of any kind. The green beans were right out of a can, and a large side of mashed potatoes and gravy were served in the same container, with the gravy on top, and not in a separate container which would be more appropriate. We came in and ordered corn nuggets, fried green tomatoes and two chicken dinner with fried okra, macaroni and green beans. The corn nuggets and fried green tomatoes are appetizers but came out with the rest of the food despite me saying I wanted those first. I liked the corn nuggets but you could tell they were not made there as the breading was a thicker breading used in a lot of frozen foods. But they tasted good. The green tomatoes, also frozen and shipped in and confirmation of that was made when a big long hair was embedded in one. My mom took it to the counter and they said it's not ours, the company ships them in. Okay that's fine but you are still responsible for what you serve in your restaurant and no one wanted to take that responsibility. Then instead of making an order they fried two replacement tomatoes which no one wanted anymore but they made them so my daughter is taking it to her dads to see if he would like them. My daughter really likes the macaroni and cheese. I did not think she would because it has red and green peppers but she loved it. And well green beans are green beans, they were good but not the best I have ever had. Finally the fried okra was delicious. My daughter and I shared them and both thought they were so good. Everyone really liked the chicken and agreed that we would get the chicken and okra again. They say they have fountain soda and they do but jt is not out for your refilling pleasure, however the large was extremely big. The menu said coke products and I had looked forward to that because I am not big on Pepsi. But the menu was wrong and Pepsi it was. It took a rather long time to get our food but it was all very hot and freshly fried on the website it says to call ahead for take out and there was a good stream of people coming in and out to get food to go. I think I'd call ahead so it would be ready and then just sit down and eat as all food is served on styrofoam so wherever you eat it's easy to access and clean up. From the outside this appeared to be an old Taco Bell. It was pretty non descript inside and out. The important thing was that it was clean. The bathroom was super clean which at some places can be an issue but the cleanliness was actually really good. Staff is friendly and they really do their best to get all orders out and ensure they are correct. For example we were missing a piece from our 4 piece and before I could even ask it was being brought out to us. It is nice to have staff that are attentive and want their customers to have what they ordered. Overall it was not bad at all. I wish I could give more stars but for me it wasn't just the hair in the tomatoes but also the fact that no one would own up to it. Because of this I rate it three stars.. good but.needs some work. I love the new location, in the old Taco Bell on Cave Springs Blvd. The restaurant was clean and they have Frank's Hot Sauce and ketchup available on the tables. The chicken is cooked to order, so the wait can be long--but it is completely worth it. The corn nuggets are amazing! I could eat a whole order by myself. They are creamy on the inside, not breast and they are perfect. The chicken is breaded and seasoned to perfection and comes out too hot to eat right away, which makes it the perfect take out place. Drink selections are very limited and the sides are pretty basic but you really come for the chicken. Our usual order is the 8 piece chicken and rolls and an order of corn nuggets. As others have stated it is a walk up stand, no where to eat here. That is disappointing to me - even a couple picnic tables may be good to bring in more customers. (I don't live close by to just run home with the food). They also charge a fee to use a credit or debit card, luckily I had cash. The chicken itself was juicy, but has minimal crispiness - I like a heavy breaded very crispy chicken. My friend however, loved this breading, she thought it was amazing! I also ordered mashed potatoes and gravy (average) and green beans which were excellent. My friend ordered the mac n cheese and it tasted too much like peppers (and we both like peppers). This was my first visit and I wasn't aware that they cook your chicken when you order it which would have been nice to know ahead of time but on the plus side, it means it was fresh and hot. Expect a 20-25 minute wait on cooking. I ordered mine to go so my fries didn't stay crispy due to steam from them being in a styrofoam container, but the chicken was delicious. The fries would have been as well had I eaten there. The coleslaw is pretty good as well. I will go back when in the area. I got an 8 pc with 2 sides and rolls for $25. The skin on the chicken was great, nice and crispy, but if you're expecting seasoning other than salt, you may find this a little bland.
