Food was absolutely the best fried chicken in all of St. Charles County! Everything was amazing and cooked once you place your order!! They just added where you can sit inside and enjoy every morsel right from the fryer!! Yum! The great service is above all expectations!! Zanita is always smiling and happy to serve you! My wife and I were looking for something simple and she had heard that the Chicken Coop had great chicken. Not a short drive but thought we would try it. The reviews on Yelp had been mixed but why not? I did see it is best to order before you arrive since chicken is cooked to order and takes a little time. We ordered there and it did take a bit as promised, but to be served hot and fresh fried chicken was worth the wait. And it was that. My guess is that the chicken had never been frozen, was juicy and tasty. The crust was not thick but well seasoned and when coupled with the crisp skin, was very good. My only beef were the sides. I did see that one reviewer called them afterthoughts and that may be a little harsh but they were disappointing. We didn't try them all but the potatoes were instant and the green beans were from a can. Maybe the other sides are better. We did have fried okra and hushpuppies as extras and even though probably from frozen, they were pretty good. I'm an old Southern boy, growing up on friend chicken and a host of freshly cooked sides that complement the main event. I guess you have to experience those killer family meals to know what sides should be like. And I have, but as to the Chicken Coop, I will go back, try different sides but the folks there really need to get in the game with some killer dishes. I know it would take a little effort but given the good quality of the chicken, seems like it would only enhance the experience. As to the facility, it is a reclaimed Taco Bell and showing its age. It was clean and the owners are doing a good job with it, but don't expect a fine dining experience. Give it a try. The folks there may have growing pains but seem to care. read more

The chicken is good. I usually get it with the spicy batter. The fish was okay, if I do get it again it will probably be with fries instead of the green beans and macaroni and cheese. Customer service has been good and consistent the few times I've been. read more

Best. Fried chicken. I've ever had. This place was on my list for idk how long and I went since my friend was craving fried chicken and it was near us both! There were a few groups/families upon arrival, but there was also a bit of a wait. I suspect everything was made to order and TRUST ME, the wait was worth it. It came out piping hot and so so delicious. I CLEANED the bones. And had I not taken a breath, I would've finished it all, but I couldn't. I was stuffed. You already know I took the left overs home and air fried those bad boys and it was still so so good!! I am still thinking about this place, drooling to go back for more. They must have remodeled because I did not see a walk up window anymore. There was indoor dining with plenty of tables/wooden booths available. If you haven't gone, you NEED TO GO!! read more

Omgggggggggg!!!!! We love this place. We tried it for the 1st time back in October at a birthday party and had been trying to get over to St. Charles for awhile to get some more. Now peep this..........when we initially tried their fried chicken it was room temperature, might as well say cold. We arrived a little late to the party but when I tell you this chicken was good cold. We took some chicken home and reheated it in the trusty toaster oven.....not the air fryer even though we have one and JUST LIKE THAT it was revived to it's former glory. We stopped in Saturday night to pick-up some eats to go. The owner (the lady) was working the front counter while hee husband was in the kitchen cooking up a storm. When I tell you how incredibly sweet and kind this lady was........omgggggggggg We ordered the 4 pice wing special with fries and a 3 pice bresst combo that included two sides so we went with the beer battered onion rings and family recipe Mac-N-Cheese that was made with jalapeños and red peppers I think. We opted for only the hot sauce as a condiment. EVERYTHING is made to order so there is usually a 20 minute wait. No problem we left and went to Aldi down the street. We returned and our food was ready, hot as fish grease and DELICIOUS as ever. We had leftovers of course which we ate Sunday morning for breakfast and Monday morning. We found our new favorite chicken spot. We're working our way through the menu, want to try the fried catfish and other sides as well. I've been recommending this spot ever since. Definitely run and check out this family restaurant. There is indoor seating available, plenty of parking and I believe a drive thru. read more

This is an amazing hidden gem. All of the chicken is made fresh when you place your order. It is moist and meaty and unbelievably delicious. The homemade Mac and Cheese is from a family recipe and it is amazing. This is a family run restaurant that I am proud to support (on a weekly basis apparently .) read more

Great tasting chicken! Frustrating that they close without notice before stated hours of ops, and they don't open according to their website hours. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD BE A 5 rating read more

Phone ahead and go through the drive through to pickup to get "St Charles County's Best Chicken" to take home to your family and friends. The old Mexican restaurant then BBQ joint switched to a chicken and fish family style restaurant... with limited seating. This is maybe a great place to grab chicken to-go ... especially through the drive through. However- I came for lunch and wanted fish or maybe liver. I really like sides, but sides are an afterthought here. Even livers are not offered only gizzards. Just a little fish and clams are offered. (Weird on Friday during lent... and people generally wanting more healthy options) The dine-in area is small, but decently clean. The food is ordered at the counter but served to your table in styrofoam and paper containers with plastic-ware. I ordered unsweetened tea and got a free refill before I left. While being offered 2 sides with my meal sounds good... pepper or Franks Red Hot needed to be added. A smaller "2 chicken wings and 1 side" was offered is what I remember seeing. Like I originally wrote- call ahead and go through the drive through to pickup "St Charles County's Best Chicken" read more

We decided that we needed some fried chicken and gave The Chicken Coop a try. The building is an old Taco Bell. The interior is very basic, repainted and was clean. The staff were nice and the food was hot and good. I had chicken strips, fries, cold slaw and fried mushrooms. My wife had a 2 piece chicken meal. It was exactly what we wanted. Thanks read more

Chicken Coop recently moved to a bigger restaurant serving their delicious Chicken. Chicken Coop is a made to order business ( no left overs here) . Freshness is what they're all about. Chicken Coop has an even batter technique coating the Chicken. Never salty and cooked to perfectio. You will definitely thank me later. The juicy taste of their Chicken is award winning. Service is always helpful and patient. Plenty of free parking . Expected wait time 20-25 minutes. Enjoy your fantastic Fried Chicken. This is a Must Try Restaurant. AW read more

I was surprised and expecting more as Chicken Coop was recommended by a friend. Since I was close to the restaurant I had high hopes as it would have been great to have a local place with good eats. The staff was not very friendly and the food was okay. Not bad, but not great. I did enjoy the jalapeños poppers but I also ordered chicken wings and fries. The chicken had too much breading on it and the fries did not taste fresh. The restaurant seemed overdue for a fresh coat of paint and building maintenance or just the appeal of the spot. I'm unsure if I will try again but probably not. Maybe I ordered the wrong items on the menu. After I connect with person that recommended I will decide if maybe it was an off day. read more

Great fried chicken. If you love fried chicken this is your place. Call ahead and pick up. Saves time as all the chicken is made to order

I had been wanting to try this place and have heard good things so when my sister suggested we order it to go I immediately went online and placed an order. We both got the chicken strips which came with sides and I ordered an extra side because I couldn't decide. We tried mashed potatoes w/gravy, coleslaw, baked beans and fries. None of it was great especially for price. The baked beans were the best of everything we tried. The chicken was definitely fresh not some frozen product but the coating/breading wasn't great. I may try this again as sometimes you just go on an off day but this visit was disappointing. read more

This has become my goto for a good home cooked fried chicken dinner. The family that owns this place are just the sweetest people and the food they make is phenomenal! I cannot resist ordering a side of creamy corn nuggets anytime I've stopped by, and the mash potatoes are perfect ever time. read more

Occasionally they have chicken livers. They are the best. I crave them at least once a week. I'll settle for some at a couple other places, but when the Coop has them they, will be my first choice. Oh, their chicken is real good, too. Especially the spicy. read more

Did a midweek takeout from here. Food was hot, but in our opinion, a step below Hobo's in taste in coating, and sides. Kids meals were a hit for our grandkids, coming with a little fruit cup and drink. While the chicken was crisp, definitely lacked spices of any kind. The green beans were right out of a can, and a large side of mashed potatoes and gravy were served in the same container, with the gravy on top, and not in a separate container which would be more appropriate. Probably a one and done for us. read more

Always great chicken! for dinner or parties. Fresh, hot & crispy. Service is superb, restaurant is very clean.

We came in and ordered corn nuggets, fried green tomatoes and two chicken dinner with fried okra, macaroni and green beans. The corn nuggets and fried green tomatoes are appetizers but came out with the rest of the food despite me saying I wanted those first. I liked the corn nuggets but you could tell they were not made there as the breading was a thicker breading used in a lot of frozen foods. But they tasted good. The green tomatoes, also frozen and shipped in and confirmation of that was made when a big long hair was embedded in one. My mom took it to the counter and they said it's not ours, the company ships them in. Okay that's fine but you are still responsible for what you serve in your restaurant and no one wanted to take that responsibility. Then instead of making an order they fried two replacement tomatoes which no one wanted anymore but they made them so my daughter is taking it to her dads to see if he would like them. My daughter really likes the macaroni and cheese. I did not think she would because it has red and green peppers but she loved it. And well green beans are green beans, they were good but not the best I have ever had. Finally the fried okra was delicious. My daughter and I shared them and both thought they were so good. Everyone really liked the chicken and agreed that we would get the chicken and okra again. They say they have fountain soda and they do but jt is not out for your refilling pleasure, however the large was extremely big. The menu said coke products and I had looked forward to that because I am not big on Pepsi. But the menu was wrong and Pepsi it was. It took a rather long time to get our food but it was all very hot and freshly fried on the website it says to call ahead for take out and there was a good stream of people coming in and out to get food to go. I think I'd call ahead so it would be ready and then just sit down and eat as all food is served on styrofoam so wherever you eat it's easy to access and clean up. From the outside this appeared to be an old Taco Bell. It was pretty non descript inside and out. The important thing was that it was clean. The bathroom was super clean which at some places can be an issue but the cleanliness was actually really good. Staff is friendly and they really do their best to get all orders out and ensure they are correct. For example we were missing a piece from our 4 piece and before I could even ask it was being brought out to us. It is nice to have staff that are attentive and want their customers to have what they ordered. Overall it was not bad at all. I wish I could give more stars but for me it wasn't just the hair in the tomatoes but also the fact that no one would own up to it. Because of this I rate it three stars.. good but.needs some work. They are a newer place I believe and kinks always need to be worked out in new places. read more

Best chicken in St. Charles. County! Love that they moved to the new larger location. Same great food. Highly recommended!!

Food service is fabulous the owners are friendly and treat you like you are in the family

Amazing food, extremely clean, good prices friendly staff food is made to order so comes out really hot

The best chicken in St. Charles county, bar none. I love the new location, in the old Taco Bell on Cave Springs Blvd. The restaurant was clean and they have Frank's Hot Sauce and ketchup available on the tables. The chicken is cooked to order, so the wait can be long--but it is completely worth it. The corn nuggets are amazing! I could eat a whole order by myself. They are creamy on the inside, not breast and they are perfect. The chicken is breaded and seasoned to perfection and comes out too hot to eat right away, which makes it the perfect take out place. Drink selections are very limited and the sides are pretty basic but you really come for the chicken. Our usual order is the 8 piece chicken and rolls and an order of corn nuggets. The staff is always friendly and helpful.b read more

HUGE shout out to Chicken Coop for the excellent service and superb food. Ordered ahead of time for my daughter's 16th birthday party. Had to add on more and was no problem. Food was ready when we arrived and was accurate. I had 3 calls the next day about how good the food was. Best part was my daughter's reaction and insistence this is what we were going to eat for her birthday. No fancy restaurant, just her favorite food. read more

I have had this place saved on my list for months and was excited to finally experience it last week. Friend and I grabbed dinner here. As others have stated it is a walk up stand, no where to eat here. That is disappointing to me - even a couple picnic tables may be good to bring in more customers. (I don't live close by to just run home with the food). They also charge a fee to use a credit or debit card, luckily I had cash. The chicken itself was juicy, but has minimal crispiness - I like a heavy breaded very crispy chicken. My friend however, loved this breading, she thought it was amazing! I also ordered mashed potatoes and gravy (average) and green beans which were excellent. My friend ordered the mac n cheese and it tasted too much like peppers (and we both like peppers). The prices were good and the employees were friendly. read more

I recommend this business to all people who like to dine on fried chicken. The service is also great.

The chicken tenders were very moist and the breading was crunchy. Not very thick breading and the side of the tenders was great. The fries needs a little salt and go great with ketchup. The Mac n cheese was very cheesy with a noticeable layer of cheese and small bits of bell peppers. I enjoy the change of flavor in the Mac n cheese. Overall great experience and will stop by again read more

Chicken Coop has some of the best fried chicken you will find anywhere. Lots of sides too! Yumm!

Solid homemade tasting fried chicken, mashed potatoes (instant?), and green beans with bacon. The fried clam strips were cooked perfectly, but the onion & jalapeño tanglers were over cooked and didn't taste like much. I prefer much more breading on my chicken and a little spice, but the chicken was juicy. It takes 20 minutes to cook, so calling ahead is a good idea. Friendly service, 1 man shop. read more

Can you say, WOW? I have been one of their biggest fans for yearsssss. The crust is magnifique. I haven't been to the new location yet. This was my first visit and I wasn't aware that they cook your chicken when you order it which would have been nice to know ahead of time but on the plus side, it means it was fresh and hot. Expect a 20-25 minute wait on cooking. I ordered mine to go so my fries didn't stay crispy due to steam from them being in a styrofoam container, but the chicken was delicious. The fries would have been as well had I eaten there. The coleslaw is pretty good as well. I will go back when in the area. I got an 8 pc with 2 sides and rolls for $25. The skin on the chicken was great, nice and crispy, but if you're expecting seasoning other than salt, you may find this a little bland. I actually like the recipe they use, it's very close to my favorite. read more

This place is amazing and the ladies who work there are always so nice and sweet. The chicken is fantastic and the breading they use is great. We love the chicken strips but the fish is good too. Call ahead and pick up your order they are always early and ready when I get there. I hope this place never closes and we will be back for sure. The only complain I have is that for as great as the food is, the gravy for the taters could be better IMO‍ Definitely not a deal breaker though read more

Very decent, solid fried chicken. Crispy and flavorful. Sides are above average with generous portions. Fast, friendly service.
