Feathered chicken

Got food with feathers the last 2xs. Im over it. I mean at least clean the dang chicken. I hate leaving bad reviews ,but come on.

I placed an order online from my office at 1:13pm ona Friday. I got 10 wings (half lemon pepper and half garlic parm). I also got celery on the side. The total was $14.71. I rounded up and donated rest to wings charities. The ETA for food being ready was 13-18 minutes. My office is 8 minutes away. I arrived around 1:27pm. They have a sign on the door for no public restroom, which I assume means for non customers but unclear because they have restrooms present that wasn't blocked off or anything. I peeked in the restroom and it was clean for the most part. I was told my food would be a few more minutes. I was somewhat surprised. It wasn't busy at all. While waiting, I noticed they were training someone. It sounded like mistakes were being made too, which is normal. It did start to get a little busy while I waited. I didn't receive my food until 1:35pm. In the car, I checked my food. I noticed there was liquid in both of the wrappers I went back inside to ask because they both supposed to be dry rubs as I wanted carb free. I was told they Toss the wings in a homemade sauce before adding the seasoning for it to stick.... that's not dry rub. lol. Secondly, it don't look like it did any sticking. I asked about the sauce and they made it in-house. Essentially it was just butter and spices, according to them. They offered to remake it but if it took over 20 minutes to make this, I wouldn't have the time to wait as I had to get back to work. When I got back to the office to eat, the wings were fine but the seasoning were in the liquid, lol. But the lady said the sauce was supposed to make the seasoning stick . I also only had 4 lemon pepper wings. So yeah, they were slacking. I don't think I'd return to this location in the future.

If you place a walk-in to-go order be prepared to wait 30+ minutes for your food. Save time and place your order online or call in.

Rixster Grill - Hawaiian Chicken with rice & waffle fries. Loved it and leftovers were delicious!

After a some discussion and online menu review, we settled on Rixster. We've, been many times in the past, but haven't placed a to go order since the days of Covid I called in the our order as I was finishing up a few errands, the hostess who took the order was very friendly and said it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I arrived a very full house of families dining and sports fans enjoying food, drink and drink while watching the game in the bar area. I figured I'd have a chance to grab a beer while I waited for the food to be ready, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was already done. After some debate, I decided to try something different on this visit, and got the Hawaiian Chicken Grill sandwich with a side of a Mac & cheese. Getting home, I opened the to go container to find a massive slab of chicken, sticking out both sides of the bun, not surprising based on my past varieties of chicken sandwiches from Rixster Grill! The sandwich was delicious, marinated in teriyaki and super juicy, topped with cheese and a grilled pineapple ring. It really hit the spot, and definitely filled me up. The mac and cheese was also fantastic, smooth, creamy and very tasty...only wish I had gotten an extra side of it. Overall, it was another delicious meal from Rixster Grill! If you like supporting flavorful, locally owned spots, I highly recommend you give them a try if you haven't before, they've got something for everyone on their menu and you won't be disappointed

We've eaten here twice so far…read more The first time we ordered online and I brought it home. I would not recommend going this route. You end up waiting for your food for a while, it's not made as one order, and by the time you get home, it's no longer fresh. Dining in was a whole other experience! The food came out hot and was absolutely delicious! The service was excellent as well! If you're going to eat here, dine in for the full experience!

We arrived about 7pm, on a Friday and the restaurant wasn't very busy at all. My wife and I had both signed up for their rewards program which automatically gave us each a $5 discount on our first orders, so using the kiosks, we placed our orders separately to take advantage of the discount. Their menu is pretty on par with other chicken spots, offering wings, tended, sandwichs. Pricing is on, maybe a little high for chicken. We placed our orders to go, I ordered a chicken tender basket with an Oreo milkshake, my wife got a chicken sandwich meal. After ordering we took a seat to wait, and wait...and wait. After about 15 minutes, my milk shake was ready, another 10 minutes, my food finally came out...and then we had to wait another 10+ minutes for my wife's food to be ready...far from fast food, 2 basic orders took over 30 minutes to prepare....pretty shameful. It was very clear they seem to put a priority on delivery and online orders over in store ordering. And they also seemingly only have one person in the kitchen that can only prepare one meal at a time. It's clear they are short staffed, but there are no signs up or perceived attempts at hiring. When we finally got home, the food was good, and the portions were adequate, but the slow food prep and lack of customer service is a huge deterrent for me to return any time soon.

Pantry Fried Chicken - Side of okra w/fish fillet

Pantry Fried Chicken

One might ask themselves, "Fried chicken in a gas station?", but there are many hidden gems lurking…read morein unassuming places. After much hype and inquiring with a friend, we decided to try Pantry Fried Chicken, a.k.a. "gas station chicken", selecting a location closest to our house. We opted to order a la carte items, which saved us almost $10 (essentially eliminating drinks). Our meal consisted of chicken tenders, boneless chicken wings, fish fillet, large side of wedges, side of coleslaw, and fried okra. Soft rolls were a bonus! The breading on chicken is crunchy & tasty and comes with an array of sauce selections. The large size wedges could feed an army (at least 4-6 ppl). Potatoes were crunchy on outside (coated?) and soft & tender like a baked potato on the inside (our favorite). The okra was chewy. Now, I'm not sure how to rectify this issue as it had been sitting in a closed container, possibly trapping moisture (maybe wax paper bags?) ‍ Unfortunately , the fish was included in okra container (problem for those who don't like their food touching, but we didn't mind), and fish seemed a bit undercooked, hard to cut, a bit chewy/fishy for my liking. Not sure what type of fish they used, but I do prefer mine cooked a bit more (maybe they accommodate this request?). The coleslaw was tangy (I could definitely identify the horseradish!). All in all portion sizes are plentiful and they provide good value for the money. Everything cooked appears to be deep fried and nothing really stood out besides salt/pepper as seasoning and the potato wedges. You do get good portion sizes and value for the money. Add-ons also seem reasonable. We ordered via app (they have a rewards program) which provided follow-up texts regarding pick-up instructions and thanking us for our order/visit again. You can additional items (per piece price) to a la carte items. Again, this is located at a gas station in a strip mall near Scientific. The ambiance is storefront carryout with lots of parking lot traffic (so be aware). Not sure if dine-in options are offered (aside from your car interior). Recommend checking them out--even if it's once--and form your own opinions. (I was raised on broasted chicken/potatoes, so I may be a bit biased.)

This spot, Hangry Joes, in my opinion has more in common with Korean style fried chicken, than a Nashville hot, or traditional southern place. The menu is diverse, and they make everything look exceptionally large and tasty... honestly, in my opinion, that ends up working against them. Compared with what is presented in their imagery, you are nearly certain to be let down by what you are given. Let me explain. I ordered the "Mega Sando Combo." The picture of a huge chunk of chicken spilling well outside the bun with plenty of tangy slaw and pickles really sold it as the thing I want. Also, when words like "Mega" are used, you are specifically creating large imagery. The reality... it's an 8 ounce chicken breast. The sandwich given to me was larger than one I would be handed at Chick-Fil-A, but not A LOT larger. It all fit completely under the bun. The amount of slaw on the sandwich was very modest... i would even say sparse. While the sandwich was absolutely tasty, my expectations were way off base, and they designed it that way. I think that's a bad thing. The price was also pretty Mega, and the amount of fries it came with... weren't even medium. We had the same issue with the loaded Mac n Cheese bowl. Again.. pictured as bountiful and spilling over the top. Reality, you would not have even had to press down to put a lid on it to go. It all was below the threshold. They also should be serving the sauce on the side with the bowls... there was so much buffalo sauce in the bowl it just tasted like eating a bowl of sauce rather than sauced chicken with mac n cheese. I have now learned my lesson. I'll come back, because really, both the sandwich and the fries were very tasty... but to be honest, not as often as I'd like, and with expectations that I have now created for myself, as opposed to seriously way overblown menu images.
