I find the fried chicken excellent, the BBQ a good example of eastern NC style with a tangy sauce, and a solid hot dog with meaty chili. One of the things I really enjoy about Smithfield's is their cole slaw...it is a slightly sweet version not made with vinegar as many are in the area. All in all, a good choice.

The fried okra had a seasoned batter that made them tasty but they were not fried crisp or had lost their crispness from steaming in the container on the way home. I prefer a fried until crispy okra and I honestly think if I had gone inside to eat, the okra would've been served crispy. The cabbage was over cooked but well seasoned. The hot roll tasted fresh and yummy but did not taste homemade. They have really good sweet tea. Overall, it was a good comfort food type of meal. This was not my first time eating here. So far, I've had their fried pork chops with Mac n cheese, pinto beans, a cheeseburger with french fries and hot dogs all the way with homemade chips. They put a real generous amount of mustard *under* the frank then topped with chili and a nice creamy slaw. If the bun had been toasted it would have been darn near perfect.
