Wings have their own labelled bags, for takeaways. Why this impresses me I do not know, but it does. I popped in for lunch wanting a hot ciabatta stacked with goodness. There was an impressive wealth of choice, some set up waiting to be heated and munched. I went for a pre-set chicken, bacon, spinach and blue cheese delight. Sadly I hate blue cheese and clearly wasn't paying attention when I was told what was in it.
Looking deeper into the cafe there was also a frying station that whips up burgers, full English breakfasts and a whole set of greasy spoon goodness. Adding to the above, fish & chips, jacket potatoes and desserts like Apple Pie, Wings seems to have everything one could desire for breakfast, brunch and lunch.
Although an intense hater of blue cheese, I managed a whole half undecided on whether I was actually enjoying the ciabatta or fooling myself. Blue cheese aside I can recognise a good sandwich when I taste one, and Wings definitely has it going on. I even snaffled myself a nice slice of Pecan Pie. It was good.
For a safe bet lunch that comes quick tasty and cheap (my pie and ciabatta came to £5.90) Wings is a sure fire hit. Next time I'll pay better attention to what the attendant is saying. read more
