Had no plans to stop here for food when my day started. It was a combination of circumstances beyond my control that demanded I take a trip back, and enjoy a bit of mid 1990's nostalgia. Maybe it was Biggie on the radio,while driving down fulton? Maybe it was the craving for fried chicken? Too be honest I really can't say. 1st. to be 100% honest last time I ate at this spot was 1995. 2nd. The 3 wings and a biscuit special back then was $1.29. Now it's $3.39 not bad for 17yrs of inflation. The chicken is still real good, the biscuit? No where close to what it was. 3rd. I don't know what happened on that day. I tried wings and things fried chicken for the first time at my friends wedding rehearsal - that chicken was so off the hook I took some chicken to go - LOL! That was how good it was - That day it was FIVE STARS! Ok i couldn't wait to try this place out. I figured the reviews were pretty good so the food must be real good right? WRONG. What a terrible place. The food is awful. I had the catfish with potatoe salad and collard greens and cornbread. When i got my plate, i expected a full size catfish. What i got were nuggets! The collard greens were not seasoned and canned, and the potatoe salad was nothing more than mayo and potatoes mixed together. Awful. My daughter got the rib and chicken platter with mac and chese and that's just what it was - mac and cheese. Horrible. And yes, the chicken was salty. Obviously no one here really knows how to cook soul food. I can't believe people were really lining up to eat here. Really? I know how to cook soul food. If i had the money, i would open a take-out across the street from them and they would be out of business within the month!!! I have been here several times. The restaurant serves fried chicken, ribs, beef ribs, and side dishes i.e corn bread, corn on the cob, fries, pies, etc. This is a good place for take out and they always run specials i.e 2 pieces of chicken (leg & thigh) & a biscuit for $1.99 The dining area is very plain. The neighborhood is not the greatest. Parking is a little difficult and the parking area is small. read more

I tried the wings, it is called Wings n Things afterall so its pretty obligatory. They were a bit small, not very meaty, not very crunchy actually either. I prefer a nice well coated batter thats fried to crisp perfection. The batter on these was scarce in some areas. The seasoning was also kind of bland, probably could have used a dash more salt. They were edible but left me feeling half empty. Based on this I probably wouldnt want to explore the rest of their menu. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid. It's the greatest thing ever. First, I recommend the buffalo wingets, and the spicy bbq wings. Both sauces are amazing! So flavorful and you won't find anything like it anywhere else. The Spanish rice and sweet plantains are great too. Fried chicken is pretty good. I haven't tried everything on the menu because I don't eat red meat, but I am sure that everything is great. Have fun with the options. Prices are reasonable too. I do have one little caveat. The location is in "the ghetto", so if you're a typical sheltered Long Island person who's afraid of the typical Hempstead folk just use the drive through. You'll love the food, I promise. Don't be scared of the location and the people. Live a little lol. I don't recommend sitting in the restaurant no matter who you are though. There can be some crazy people in there who just don't know how to behave so just go through the drive through and enjoy your food at home. read more

They were extra, extra crispy..so I felt like I was eating a potato chip rather than a piece of chicken. I had the honey bbq wings and while the portion was huge, I wasn't blown away. I drive to Wings N Things in Hempstead all the way from Babylon for the CHICKEN and Candied Yams!!! The chicken is always well seasoned, crispy and fresh and the yams have just the right amount if sweetness. It is worth the drive. The Cornbread is pretty good too. The Macand Cheese and Collards are okay, but the Spanish rice is awesome. Love Soul Food so this restaurant does it for me. Oh and I almost forgot - Try the Peach Cobbler!!!! Best place for chicken, ribs, corn bread etc the food is always cooked well and they service is fast. I normally buy the chicken wings for a fight night or sports party they are always the first thing gone. You should also try the pecan pie or the sweet potato pie it is yummy and they are small like personal size so you don't feel too bad eating it all lol. ENJOY! read more

The meal came out way too quick after I ordered, proving that the food was just sitting there waiting, certainly not being prepared fresh. Granted, as far as I know, they don't claim the food will be fresh, so perhaps I got what I should have expected. Regardless, the food was not hot, very greasy and had little flavor. I have been working around the area for a while, it's my first time with this restaurant. The restaurant is so-so renovated, the table and chairs looks beat up. I have been a customer for years. Amazing bang for the buck, especially the baby Back Ribs. I have tried most items on the menu and rate most quite well. My wife will not eat here with me as she does not feel safe as I once had someone try to intimidate me into giving them money. In my case, that can be a mistake as I do not take kind to intimidation even if I happen to be the only white person. Needless to say I did not give any money. As I write, I must say, the Baby Backs might be up there with some of the best I have ever had. Worth the trip just for them. I will go with the guys and people stay away and just assume we are 5-0. Kind of slow and inattentive service with English being a big issue, but the prices are fantastic. The grilled chicken here is very good, and very decently priced. You CAN eat healthy here for a reasonable price and get great tasting food - you just have to wait a few minutes, which if you're more patient than me isn't a problem. read more

Stopped here the other day, passing through Hempstead and had a taste for some wings. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of food. The macaroni salad was definitely store bought and dumped into a container. Tasted like mayonnaise and elbow noodles. The wings were tiny, buffalo sauce was very oily, and the wings could've been cooked longer. I thought the supply of blue cheese in a kraft packet was very tacky. I will not be returning to this location. I'm truly confused to all the good reviews other people are giving this place. Never again ! read more
