Although it's primarily a take out joint it's a little higher than typical take out food. Worth it though! Now for my complaint! I spent darn near $30 in this place and asked for a cup of ice. I was charged .75 cents. I was shocked, and asked why. It's because the ice machine cost $400 to repair according to the owner. Now I don't run a business of this sort, but an ice machine is a foundational requirement in my opinion along with the maintenance and operational budget. Somehow I would have added that in hidden costs rather than go through an absurd explanation and negatively impact customer service.

The foods just OK, bout it now.Course it was fantastic before so it does hurt them. Went from great whole wings that were huge, lightly breaded and perfectly fried to cut up small Nekid fried wings. Not whole wings anymore. Huge downgrade. Not bad if you like them that way though. Just wings, nothing special. Catfish? It was OK. Fell apart on me. Not crispy. Kinda bland. They don't out the seasoning on them like he did. They're only 2-3 blocks from my office so I'll go try a couple more things to see what they're like. Won't be wings or catfish showing. I did have a wait as well but it wasn't too bad. Once I got my food they checked it with me to make sure everything was correct. Once I was home I tried the fish. I didn't think that I would like it because it didn't look like the thicker catfish fillet that I was used to. But it was actually good. The wings were good and crispy too. I tried out a few of their flavors to see what I liked. I liked their sweet chili and their mango habanero sauce. The shrimp were ok. I would definitely order again.

It is mostly a take out spot but there are two tables if you wish to dine inside. It was suggested to call my order in to reduce my wait once there. They appear to fry the meat once ordered, which accounts for the wait. I'm fine with that because who doesn't want freshly cooked chicken? I ordered fried chicken, dressing and cabbages. I was shocked to see the chicken was actually drummettes and not a leg/thigh combo. They were good though. The dressing gave me stuffing vibes. It was thick and gummy and I did not care for it. The cabbage were good. I ordered the sweet potato cornbread. It would be good for breakfast but not a savory meal. The jungle juice is a punch version of an Arnold Palmer. It was good. I would consider eating there again.

I also purchased one fried catfish sandwhich. The fried catfish was prepared on the spot and it was very hot and fresh. The seasonings were very good if not for a wee bit salty (but I find most dishes salty so maybe it's just me). The catfish was crispy on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside. In my opinion it was fried perfectly. In fact I can't even fry catfish this well at home. The corn nuggets and fries were equally fresh and delicious. The service was excellent. The employees were attentive when I walked in, they greeted me, and seemed eager to take my order and as soon as my order was prepared I was notified. It took 10 minutes to prepare my food and that was an excellent wait. While I waited for my food several others came and ordered and I could tell this restaurant does brisk business. I will most definitely return because of the wonderful customer service and quality and quantity of food. 601 Fish and Wings Expres gets 4 Stars!

As someone who is extremely critical of restaurant food and service, I believe that if I work hard all week and choose to spend my hard-earned money at your establishment, you should deliver a great experience. This restaurant did just that. The young lady at the counter was incredibly welcoming and courteous. She gave me the usual spiel that everything on the menu is good, and while I haven't tried every single item, she definitely wasn't lying about what I ordered. The fries were perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and fluffy in the middle. The burger was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection--neither undercooked nor overcooked. All of the toppings were fresh and full of flavor. And the wings? Absolutely immaculate... sensational. The overall vibe was great, and the restaurant was spotless, which is more than I can say for a lot of places these days. I wish I had taken pictures to show it off, but the food was so good that taking a photo was the last thing on my mind.
