This place is an absolute gem!…read more The parking lot is small, but it's conveniently located at the top of the hill. There's also some additional parking on the other side of the restaurant. We've never had any trouble finding parking, but we usually arrive around 5 or 6 PM. If you're a fan of red meat, this is the place for you. I've tried both the ribeye and the prime rib, and both were absolutely fantastic. The portion sizes are generous for the price, so I always end up with leftovers. The prime rib is perfectly seasoned with a nice crust. I usually order my steaks medium rare, and they've always come out just right, except for one time when I got an end piece that I sent back. They quickly replaced it and agreed that it was more medium than rare. The jalapeño poppers are delicious, and the house salad is equally tasty. I always get the hashbrowns as a side, while my friend usually gets the brussels sprouts and the au gratin. I've never tried anything else, but I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you order. But the pie is the star of the show! Get the French Silk pie, made from scratch by the owner. The crust has just the right amount of saltiness to complement the rich chocolate mousse filling. The mousse isn't too dense, but it's not as light as meringue either. If you're a chocolate lover, you absolutely must try it. Pro tip: If you're there on a busy night, it might be a good idea to order your pie when you order your food. I did this one night because I was dreaming of the pie all week, and I'm so glad I did. Unfortunately, they ran out by the time the rest of our table ordered dessert, but my waiter had set aside my piece just for me, so I was able to enjoy it.

We chose to visit Yen Hing Dragon Restaurant. The interior is a little dated, but this is typical of small town restaurants. It's obviously family run. Seating is a combination of booths and tables and chairs. The menu is pretty large and there's something for everyone. We went with the House Special fried rice, a lunch special of Sichuan Spicy Chicken (lunch special with hot and sour soup and an egg roll), an order of crab rangoon, an iced tea and a water. $29 and change before tip. The food came out after a very short wait. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted good. Our server was very attentive. If you're passing through Waukon give these guys a shot. We were pleasantly surprised and left happy.

More than five minutes, perhaps closer to ten passed. They weren't busy. One of the servers kept making rounds, but not stopping. I'd have been more patient if a beverage was offered. We decided to take the hint. We walked across the street to the sports bar, which wasn't our first choice. I have no idea if the food here is good.

I will say this is the first Japanese restaurant I've gone to that did not serve miso soup but egg drop instead? One person in our group ordered a green curry that they said was really good. So throw in some Thai also. Sushi was really good we ordered a few rolls and shared. The service was good however we felt rushed and like we were irritating the waitress with our questions so not impressed with service. Make sure you request wasabi with your sushi as they don't bring the ginger and wasabi automatically. We would definitely go back and maybe wait staff was overwhelmed as it was quite busy. The food we received was all good and no complaints it is a little louder than most Japanese restaurants.

This small town diner has regulars coming in for their dinner, having a drink and chatting up a storm. It's situated in the middle of nowhere but scenic bluffs and farms. They have a nice deck to sit outside in the summer. This is the third time we have been there and the food is always consistently good! Simple food without fancy presentation but amazingly tasty. We ordered the broasted chicken platter-juicy flavorful tender meat and delicious crunchy skin. You can choose dark or white meat or combo. I got the broasted potatoes with the meal and cheddar bacon potato soup with it. Soup was creamy, rich and delicious. My husband ordered the same meal and added a piece of battered cod with his. Great portions and delicious. We couldn't resist ordering the walleye meal with seasoned fries. The walleye was fresh and flaky. Not the biggest fan of their seasoned fries...thicker cut and not crunchy. For dessert, touch choice but we decided on the caramel apple ice cream that came in a martini glass.
