    Brisket, beans, fries, cornbread... yum!

After seeing advertisements on TV, we decided to go for an evening drive and check it out... Great barbecue place! Food was excellent, especially the brisket. The baked beans were also tasty. Full bar in the back saloon. Laid back, relaxed atmosphere. Neat antique signs and things decorating the restaurant. Service was quick. You order at the counter, and waitstaff brings the food to your table. Worth the drive from MN!!

Definitely worth the trip! General store is so cute food is amazing and portions are awesome! Prices are amazing and so is the staff! Worth the trip for sure!

Outside go in the takeout door to order. Order, get your beverage, take a seat, and wait for them to bring you your meal.

The bbq pork sandwich was so good I didn't even need sauce. The bun was a bit soggy but that was ok bc the meat was so good. The Carolina mustard and bbq sauce we're both good without a strong kick. Portions were decent. The bbq pork was sweet smoky and not at all spicy. The service was good, they were friendly and prompt. The big open space adds to the atmosphere. Add some country or jazz and It would be like the south.

We were on the road in the area and decided to pull off to check out the creamery and get some BBQ. I love these small town gems that we come across from time to time. This is a massive restaurant for the small town that it's in and even had live music off the back patio and bar area the day we were there. The decor and everything about this place gives you the true traditional BBQ experience. Onto the food we decided to split the full rack of ribs with 2 sides for just $22. The sides were kind of small, but were delicious and packed tightly into their little containers. Make no mistake about it, we walked away full. That may be due to the full rack of ribs that we had. They had a nice rub that gave it good flavor, but the BBQ sauce made them even better. I wouldn't call it the best BBQ I've ever had, but it was very good. If you live in the area or are passing through make sure to stop in!

Thumbs up for this awesome little BBQ joint.

Excellent, truly an awesome find in a fun little Wisconsin town right on the old Mississippi river. My wife and I took our three young lads here for dinner on a Saturday night. The service was fast and friendly and the food was perfect. We enjoyed the ribs, brisket, some pulled-pork nachos, and some cold beverages. I am not an expert in BBQ but I thought the food was perfect. Visible smoke rings, not too moist, not too dry, sauce on the side, all around good stuff. It's clear that these guys put a ton of pride and passion into their BBQ. Kudos.

This is legitimate BBQ. They even have a selection of bourbon. The seating is more extensive than it looks from the outside.

While we visited their onsite brewing was on hiatus because they need to be re-licensed after the ownership change. Looking forward to that happening!

I had the soup special, a bowl of the French Onion Soup, and my wife had the Pub Burger. Although both dishes were presented attractively, neither one had a "wow" factor, and in fact, were bland and lacking in flavor. It's too bad because,I was really in the mood for Onion Soup. The onions were cooked well, but the soup really was lacking in taste. I think the broth tasted like canned broth and did not have any depth of flavor. My wife felt the same way about the hamburger; it also was bland. So neither dish was particularly memorable. So one less star for food. They also loose another star for their continued surcharge for both a credit card and a debit card. When I rated this place two years ago, they were charging a 5% "employee pay supplement" which is no longer legal. However, it is also illegal to charge a 3% surcharge on both credit cards and debit cards (this new law was effective in January of 2025). Restaurants CAN charge for credit cards, but it is illegal to surcharge for debit cards. In fact, not only is this a Minnesota law, it is a Federal law, and part of the rules for Visa and Mastercard. Another option is that restaurants CAN give a cash discount from the menu, but to do that the menu must show prices using the credit card price and state that they give a (in this case) a 3% discount for cash (note: a menu discount, not a menu surcharge). If a credit or debit card is used, then it must match the MENU price and the check needs to show the menu price total, and separately show the cash discount. I tried to show the General Manager this law and explain it, but he was very dismissive and borderline rude. At first he tried to tell me their was a discount for paying in cash, so I asked him if that was discount off of the menu price, and he said no. A lack of a surcharge is NOT a discount; it is a surcharge!

She was ecstatic to notice this place has outdoor dining. Happy wife - happy life! So yes we ate there(here). Service was prompt and attentive. Very helpful waiter. She wanted the broasted chicken. I said what the heck? Who goes to a BBQ place and doesn't order BBQ. Let's leave! Well, perhaps i said it more politely than that. I'm no fool. But we both decided to eat BBQ Pork sandwiches. They came with fries and a bit of coleslaw for you Carolina people who love to pollute your pure BBQ flavor. Okay yeah... I put it on my sandwich too but that don't make it right. There were sauces on the table to use. Wife says the "hot" one... is really hot! Me? I stayed with original and sweet. The sandwiches were excellent. The fries weren't your average fries you get at a fast food joint. They were seasoned well and were perfect with the pork sandwich. As a side note we wanted the ribs but it was lunch time and we didn't want to spend a ton of money on ribs. We wanted to eat light. Lucky for us, it was 1:45 and at 2:00pm Happy Hour started and we could order individual single ribs. Yes, they made us wait. We finished our sandwiches and ordered at 2:01pm. By 2:15 my stomach told me i was full and I no longer wanted ribs.... but... we ordered them so they showed up a minute or so later..... and even though I was full.... man these ribs were amazing. We only got three of them and gosh, you could taste the smoke on them....They weren't fall off the bone tender which some people like but me? I prefer tender but enough to stay on the bone so i can gnaw them off with my teeth.... they were really good. I'll go back again... after 2;00PM..... and order some ribs as an appetizer to eat while i wait on my Broasted Chicken.

THE FOOD!!!!! I…read moreordered through Door Dash to my hotel room so I don't have information about the location... and technically I don't have information about the staff. But I can tell you that whoever determined the menu and keeps everyone on track, and probably everyone at the restaurant put a little love into the place and a lot of love into their coworkers. You CAN taste the difference when people are happy. We went with an order of 3 large shrimp for each of us, and a half chicken and ribs with coleslaw and sweet potatoe fries. The shrimp were incredible! The size! The juiciness, the ability to get every bit of meat out of the tail! Everything about these was everything that I wanted. I couldn't believe that one serving of just 3 was so filling! (I think you would need 6 Red Lobster butterfly shrimp to equal the size of one but you cannot compare the taste as these are peel & eat.) Then I opened the protein box and realized that I had made the embarrassing mistake of not ordering a barbecue sauce. Humph. I think that should not have been such an easy mistake to make on their site. Thankfully, both of us like grilled food without dripping sauces and ... OMG ... We were not disappointed in the food! The ribs were like eating a meat candy. They were such a joy to hold the bone and just lightly pull the tender sweet meat off. There was barely any fat. The spice rub brought out the juices from deep inside the meat but only let them sit on the meat and inside the skin. The chicken was amazing! The dark meat practically ran juices down the front of our shirts as we bit into it, the same way that sweet corn does. The white meat was so juicy it was like the typical dark meat that most people achieve on Thanksgiving. Now, the coleslaw was one of the blandest I've tasted but I figured if you do have one of the spicier barbecue sauces you might be using it as a foil. Helping you to calm your mouth's fire down with the dressing. Of course, fries don't travel well and sweet potatoe are no different. But they were absolutely everything I expected. They were delicious!! I am having surgery in April and trying to see how to ship this food to me after that now. ;)

However, in execution I was a bit disappointed. I came with a group of 6, and I ordered the southwest sandwich with brisket. The disappointing thing about seeing the pass with the food in it, is that you can see your food sit. I saw my friends sandwich sitting for a good 10 minutes. It was just a bit slow. But we figured out, they're located in the northeast corner of the building. You enter the same door as Los Habaneros. They're in the former location of the bakery (and previously, the bagel shop). All 3 of us loved our food. The meats were excellent. The quality is obvious - you can taste the difference if you pay attention. I didn't eat any plant based stuff but my friends testified that the sandwiches were great and the specialty cocktails rocked! I also enjoyed a lot of the details like some incredibly wonderful sauces and little touches like decorative designs branded on top of the buns. The customer service was first class. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The prices seem very reasonable. It might be my imagination but the prices seem lower than comparable BBQ places. This was a welcome surprise. LOW CARB: It was easy to eat low carbohydrate carnivore style at Smokey Treats. Initially, I was a disappointed because there are only TWO(2) items on the menu that are meat only with no plant based sides or a bun or bread or a suspicious sugary sauce. I expected I'd have some headaches trying to eat all-meat. I was ready for a debate or pushback. I ordered both of the all-meat (mostly) plant-free menu items: Steer Bites and Pig Wings. (I think they're both technically appetizers). I thought I'd want more food afterwards but these 2 menu items were so filling, I was full & satisfied for lunch. (And they were really, really good.) The Steer Bites were cooked perfectly...super tender...with 2 sides sauces...chimichurri and a sugary BBQ sauce. The Pig Wings were great too. They were so tender, the meat literally fell off the bones. And they're a lot bigger than I thought. Nice! In addition to the food quality, the thing that really won me over is they're TOTALLY willing to sell meats a la carte...no problem whatsoever...no push back from our waitress whatsoever. I asked if they could just sell me a burger patty with no bun or sides - no problem. I asked them if I could buy brisket by the pound - no problem. Awesome! Smokey Treats is a great place and a nice addition to the Hudson food scene. The food is awesome. And they're different from the other BBQ I've tried in Hudson (I've tied them ALL). I'd go back again ANY time. Thanks for a great experience, Smokey Treats! -Maxx
