At times, it took over 10 minutes just to place an order. I don't necessarily think that's the norm, so I'd be open to coming back during a regular happy hour to get a better feel for the service. First, the food is very, very good. They serve the typical American fare, but the quality is outstanding. It's obvious they put a lot of care into choosing quality ingredients. The salads are oversized and very fresh - better than Chopt, for example, and cheaper. Anything with chicken, you can expect to be really good, like the wings (and again, very fairly priced with a large side). But chicken is their specialty. I also recommend the dogs which are also very good. Finally the drinks are cheaper than most places in DC. If you get a pitcher of beer, it works out to about $3.25 - 3.50 a glass, and the taps are kept up well, so the beer is good. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the place is very clean. It's obvious they put a lot of effort into keeping up high standards. There are sports on TV and good music. If you want an inexpensive place to go, regularly, this is for you. read more

The transient dollar always wins, as Shaw is the most intensively gentrified neighborhood in DC for good reason. I would personally stick with Mission BBQ and maybe Famous Daves chains, if you are not going to be a homemade pit master or cook yourself those ribs for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Sometimes you want to treat yourself from always cooking in the kitchen, but gosh can these places step their game up and stop selling out? What is next we will have raisins and fruit in our potato salad? I came in excited thinking this place was going to be amazing, but there needs to be a bit of improvement with the food quality. The bartender was friendly, personable, and had great energy which is a plus, but the take out experience was worst than mediocre. It is one of those one and done spots. I gave it a shot, but felt uneasy and disappointed, something just seemed off with the experience honestly here.

The smoked turkey sandwich is quite good, fresh, well composed. Customer service is uneven. One time, I asked for something to be placed into a box for travel (there are to-go boxes that are displayed in the window spaces). I was told "no". Seemed nonsensical.
