Not my first time here, and definitely not my last! Wine Vault is a fantastic wine store and lounge conveniently located in the heart of The Shoppes at University Place. This spot truly has it all: you can order wine by the glass (beer too) or bottle, enjoy wine tastings, lounge in their cozy spaces, purchase snacks, and browse their well-stocked store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions or help you find the perfect bottle. One of my favorite features is their Wednesday night wine tasting event. $5 for six samples in 15-minute increments between 7-8 PM. It's a fun, affordable way to explore new wines. If you're hungry, there are plenty of food options nearby, plus shopping venues, events, and activities around the pond. Parking is ample, so no stress there. My girls and I stopped by the wine room for some wine, cheese and crackers for a ladies afternoon chat. Colby was the perfect host to pour and chill our wine and offer great accompaniments with our wine. I usually drink Château ST. Michelle but Colby recommended St Christopher Qualitatswwin Rheinhessen and it was the perfect blend of smooth and sweetness.. I visited the Wine Vault on a weekday afternoon after lunch with a friend in the area. The location is in a strip mall, off the beaten path. I was pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem. We were warmly greeted and found that the employee was very kind and friendly. They do tastings Wednesday at 5 pm so we weren't able to take advantage of that but we did a wine flight with 4 wines for $12. I thoroughly enjoyed all 4. It was a super cozy spot but large so if you came in with a large party you could easily separate yourself as there are several nooks you can duck away too. I would definitely love to visit if I'm in time again. read more

A great little wine bar! We were staying overnight near by and happened across them on Friday night. Quite a few glasses (and bottles) available to drink on comfy chairs and couches. A sign said they often have live music. The had a good sized bottle collection for purchase and we were pleasantly surprised by their reasonable prices for many of our favorites. Was here for a date on a Saturday night. That whole area was hype and popping. But it was very nice and chill at Wine Vault. You can get fairly good bottle of wine for a really good prices. The one he picked out was a Riesling at $19. And to be honest, I don't usually drink white but he made a good choice. We sat outside on the patio area to people watch. It was a very nice spot.. My friend and I came here on a Sunday evening to check out this place and had a great time! We sat out on the patio right next to the boardwalk which was packed that evening. This wine bar doesn't have table service, you just go up to the counter and order a glass (they have the menu up behind the counter) or get a bottle from their store. We decided to share a bottle and were given glasses and the opened bottle to seat ourselves. The ambiance was great and their interior decor looked really comfy with sofas and armchairs, so it would be a good place to go to in colder days too. I'll start by saying I went in but did not patronize this location; however, I wanted to write a review to explain why in hopes that the business owner takes the feedback. Immediately turned off when my friend and I entered and were *not* greeted by a woman in the front who appeared less than interested in the fact that potential customers appeared. We took a walk through the dark, dusty store and stopped at a couple uninviting displays and she never inquired if were were looking for something special nor did she try to draw our attention to anything special. Wow I've been here so many times and can't believe I never reviewed! First of all I LOVE this place. It's in the perfect location at the boardwalk and their wine selection is superb. What I like most about this place is that it's NOT just one big room where you have to sip and look at stranger's faces. There are nooks and crannies where you can sit around a corner to yourself while you get wine-wasted (they sell beer too). Also they have games and trivia that you can grab whenever to make it an even more interesting time with your companion (or alone!) I have been here for wine-tasting as well and it was a couple years ago, but the guy who hosted was quite entertaining. Tonight there was live music and it was actually decent. They also sell snacks to pair with the wines. The staff is always nice and laid-back. I like that they aren't pesky people who keep running around to check on you every few minutes. You simply go in and buy your stuff and are given opt to start a tab or pay immediately. Then you don't see them again until you go order more or are leaving. My suggestion: get comfy and just start the damn tab! read more

This has always been one of our favorite places. We even celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. This was always our regular spot, especially because our dog loves the people, who are just wonderful. Over the last few months, we've been very careful about isolating, and we were thrilled about enjoying some wine here this afternoon. They are careful about social distancing, which made us very comfortable and relieved to visit one of our favorite spots. Our visit was especially happy as our pup was thrilled to be back. First off let's start by saying this. I moved from Atlanta to Charlotte. I was scared cause I didn't think I would find a wine venue. No need to fear, I found my first wino spot. It's in a fun shopping center and is sort of laid back like a coffee house. There are lounge areas with couches and two seater tables as well. There's front patio seating as well. There is plenty of good solid wine selections and even over 300 beers too. On Wednesday you can try 6 wines for $5.00. I came on a Tuesday and wasn't allowed to sample anything. That's a down side because my glass was $12. Thankfully it was a Decoy Zinfandel and it was great. 20 wines by the glass and hundreds of bottles to take home or get a individual glass of. Came here with friends and had a blast! I like chill spots, however coming back from Cali my thoughts are going to be a little biased. Other than that, this place is an awesome hang out spot. Come here and get some wine, they have a pretty extensive menu. Hey, if you don't like wine, it's all okay! No worries, they also have beer. Came here for a group event, and I was pleased and surprised. I'd seen people gathering at the Wine Vault whenever I was in the area, but I'd never had the opportunity to stop by myself. There is a large selection of beers and wines, so a little bit for everyone. There is a selection of on-tap beers as well as bottles/cans and wine by the glass or bottle. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, wanting a dry wine and unsure of how long I would be staying. $9. Not horrible, but not great. The glasses are cute and about 4-5 oz, a standard wine serving, but I wasn't feeling up to $9/glass for an outing with friends. Once I finished my glass, I purchased a bottle, which they happily opened for me and gave me a cold pack for. $20. Much better deal, and I was able to share. The interior is cute and cozy while the patio allows for a classy but casual feel. My complaint was the live music. Not that the music was bad, but it was far too loud. The musician brought an amp/speaker, so i couldn't even hear the person next to me. It quickly cut short what had been a lovely and fun evening. Visit date May 17, 2019- This is a very chill spot located on the Boardwalk. Most of the seating is outside. They do have table and chairs inside but not many. It's nice to set outside, listen to music with a glass of wine or beer. Can you bring kids? Yes, especially of you bring them something to keep them occupied or if they like my kids if you give them food and ice cream they are good. I would suggest bringing some games and they even have games inside they will let you use. Weekend night they have a live band playing outside. The have even beer. You can use one of their wine glass if need or your can bring your own, just not a wine bottle lol. They do not have food there, other then small snacks like cheese, hummus, crackers and etc. If you are hungry or want food what most people would do when they go there is bring food. They will allow you to bring food. There are soo many places you could get food from nearby by and walking distance. It's even two shops where you can get ice cream from. read more

Good cheeses, live music, outdoor patio(where you can bring you dog). All of this right by the lake. These guys also schedule tastings and pairings at some local restaurants. The prices are reasonable, the live music is fun, and the dogs are cute. The atmosphere of the Wine Vault is always nice regardless of what you're looking for. If a little more room to breath and a little less volume is what you are after, just grab a table around the outer edges. The official hangout for my office (since we're walking distance). Nice little spot on the boardwalk with ample outdoor seating. The inside has a larger "community room" with plenty of chairs and couches. The selection is smaller, but they have some good things to choose from. It is tight where the inventory is kept - can feel claustrophobic if too many people are browsing at once. The staff is friendly and seem to know their stuff. I am a little disappointed in the by-the-glass menu. I visited in May and again in September and nothing had changed. Pretty disappointing in that regard. read more

This is the gem of University City. It's laid back atmosphere hits you from the parking lot, with acoustic sounds and the tinkling of laughter and wine glasses. At least a dozen tables spill outside the doors, filled with patrons and their cherished pets on any warm evening. It's commonplace to have live music from the patio, but doesn't overpower the conversations or keep the dogs from lounging. The ambiance, especially with the views of the lake and paddle boats, allows you to shift your mind into thinking you're anywhere but a local hangout in the Piedmont of NC. The Vault itself has tiny quarters, but stocks some well-treasured and fresh names, both in wine and brews. Snacks are available, with a varied assortment of cheeses, pretzels and party mix. It's very simple to walk in, make your selections, then take to the register for purchase. The only problem you may find are long lines, so I wouldn't wait until the last minute for a drink or the bathroom. It's worth a drive from anywhere in the Charlotte area to see what the UCB has been keeping to itself. This place is equally impressive for the intimate conversation of a first date, relaxing with a group of friends after work, or bringing your dog for some appreciative petting from strangers.
