He is the son of Wine Library's owner and has a V-blog in which he tastes wines from their huge store every day. His knowledge of wine is impressive yet he is very funny. MY OH MY! I've died and gone to a wino's heaven. I've never seen so much wine (bottled wine, anyway) and high-end scotch in one place before. Everyone was extremely helpful. (Maybe too helpful! We were asked if we needed assistance at least 4 times, twice by the same person!) I was also really impressed with their cheese selection. I'm moving to the area from NYC, home to many a magnificent cheese shop that will be sorely missed. Not only was the assortment impressive, but the staff really knows their stuff! Giovanni is the best! if you are new to this or know a bit of everything.. find her. My bf is a wine head, I have a tiny bit of an idea of what I am doing. We both learned a lot from her. She has been working at the Wine Library for about 5 years, so she was well versed. The wine prices are VERY competitive - actually beyond better than most and the selection is beyond impressive. The check out time was also fast (though we left with 32 bottle of wine) and everyone who worked there from the floor people to the cheese guy were very helpful! They also have tastings and other events. I used to go here every few months and purchase around 12 bottles of wine. Parking is very congested with two small lots with luxury cars ripping through there without regard for anyone. What really changed my mind though is the anti-consumer policy of not allowing credit on a debit card. I LOVE the grocery section, particularly the cheese shop! Better selection than Whole Foods with significantly lower prices. One favorite cheese of mine goes for $24.99 at Whole Foods and only $13.99 at Wine Library. Much better value! And that's only the gourmet section! The wine selection is fantastic, and the service is really good. It can be a bit overwhelming, but so far I've never gone wrong with any choices here. My apologies for knocking the beer selection before, was there this weekend and was beyond blown away. While it is not a large selection per se, the selection of the various products on shelf felt like it was designed for me with items I've never seen before in store. Let's start with the various smaller breweries available. . . Great Divide, Terrapin, River Horse, Founders, Lagunitas, and a bunch of other good smaller brewers from around the nation. First place i've ever seen Terrapin Hopsecutioner, a killer hophead brew, along with a good mix of other great options. Next are quality canned beers - one can legally drink out of cans on Sandy Hook, so I was looking for good canned beers. Beyond the normal options, they had one of the better Polish beers, Zywiec, in cans (if you haven't tried a Polish beer, you are missing out). Last but definitely definitely not least. . . over a month ago and three states away I first tasted Collaboration Not Litigation on draft, a blend of two Belgian ales from American brewers. To say it was amazing was an understatement; it's been on my mind since. And here it is on shelf, and it still bring the goodness; I'll be back for more soon. Beyond these three examples, there were a number of other great great beers available, but I only need so much at any one time. For such a relatively small selection, they have some amazing options. So for the rating. .. I'd give it 8.5 stars - 5 alone for having Collaboration not Litigation, 1 for the Polish cans, 1 for Hopsecutioner, 1 for the great cheese options, 2 for the great wine and liquor prices, but minus 1.5 stars for being out of Rodenbach Grand Cru! Now that's another amazing beer that they'd normally carry! . . .as I can't give 8.5 stars, 5 will have to do. The Wine Library is way too awesome not to visit! It has an incredible selection of wine, beer, and liquor on two spacious floors. The staff here are very knowledgeable about their products as well. The store has some of the best and hard to find cheeses, aged meat, and snacks to compliment their main products as well. I usually come here every three to four weeks to restock my wine cellar. Best of all, it's only a few minutes drive from my house. Definitely, a win-win situation here. read more

This places is amazing. The first thing you see is the amazing cheese selection. They had at least 6 cheeses from Europe and California that I always wanted to try but could not obtain without astronomical shipping charges. They have classes on Wednesday nights at 7 pm where you can learn about and taste four unique wines. Stacy teaches the classes and shares the most interesting facts about the wines. We tried a Hungarian wine, Harslevelu, at one of the first classes of the year. The selection of wines is incredible. They have a good amount of liquor and beer as well. read more

There just aren't words to describe the awesomeness of WL, it's staff, and its director of operations. Have you ever been in love (in a heroic, star-struck, kind of way) with someone, like Madonna, Bette Midler, Kurt Cobain, or someone one like that (pick your pleasure)? If so, you might've met them. They could've been awesome, or maybe a disappointment. So you can understand why, on my trip from New York to New Jersey to visit Wine Library and Gary Vaynerchuk, I was so nervous. I could not have been treated better. The staff there is knowledgeable, the place is great, and organized by country for easy shopping. The best place for buying wines in my opinion. So much so that I buy by the case all the way from LA. Where else can you get someone to review your wine for you? Who else lists all of the reviews from Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator etc in all their glory and failure? If you live near the store, why would you not buy your wines from Wine Library? Everyone else in the country marks up their prices by several dollars and WL has their own wine guy who walks you through several wines every week. read more

Though I am not fan of their cheeses (Summit cheese shop is better), they have the best selection of imported sausages, mustards and hard to find food items. I'm fairly certain this is the best wine store in the tri-state area (and perhaps beyond). Two floors (plus a reserve cellar area) of selection, and it's all hand-selected amazingness. They don't haphazardly fill the shelves with whatever bottles can take up space, each and everything I've tried from here has had it's quality well exceed its price. This of course brings us to prices - the prices here are better than most anywhere, even online. Whenever I look for a bottle of Champagne at a liquor store while traveling, I'm comparing to how much more I'm paying than at Wine Library, haha. Enough of the great prices and great selection of wine, though, this extends to whiskies, tequilas, and other fine and rare liquors as well as craft beers. One of the things I love about NJ is that they don't split up beer/wine/liquor sales into different stores, so you can find the best of everything in one location such as this! Generally what happens to me is I see a great deal on their mailer, order a case for pickup, then end up grabbing a bunch of other stuff while I'm there. Not bad at all, there are two floors, wine, wine and more wine. Liquor selections, enough to make you dizzy and a small but nice selection of gourmet foods and cheeses. In terms of wine you can't go wrong, they also are very friendly and more than willing to help. They do have a lot of liquors your corner store won't carry. Growing up in Millburn, I've been aware of this store since "before it was cool" back when Gary V's parents owned it and ran it as a regular neighborhood wine store. I was startled to see the wine library tv phenomena, the store billboards on the turnpike, to hear people I knew in New York talking about this store. I finally went in and as a wine newbie I love that I can pick up a bottle from one of their featured sales and feel confident that it will be an interesting and good choice that I'm getting for a good price. I went in the cheese/gourmet section and after sampling a few, bought a very yummy Italian Robiola (creamy like a brie, without the bite, but with a little bit of stink to it) with a complementary pineapple spread. I have not been back to Wine Library for a while. Stopped in yesterday looking for a Lambrusco. Found a good one for $17.00. Walked out with a mixed case - some sale items, three bottles of Blake tawny port and some Portuguese wines to try. I don't have much sympathy for the complaints. Parking is fine during the week. Why anyone should complain that parking can be a problem on a busy Saturday eludes me. It's the same everywhere. Staff was very helpful. You should not confuse the stock boys with the sales associates. If you see a guy stocking shelves, that is not the person to ask. But they can find a sales associate for you. Coincidentally, we found a very good Italian restaurant down the street. We will be back more often to combine a trip to the Wine Library with lunch at Sofias. read more

One of the biggest things I miss about living in Essex County is not having easy access to Wine Library. This place has an unbelievable selection of great wines at reasonable prices. Also, they frequently have great offers at their website, many times offering free shipping. Gary's instructional wine tasting videos are fun and informative at the website. I live in CA where we have quite a nice selection of wine...that being said, I love Wine Library! They seem to get CA wines for cheaper than we get them on the west coast. They also have a great selection of old world wines. Their prices and shipping are unbeatable and they make sure not to ship in HOT weather. Common sense, yes but these guys seem to care. The variety of stock here is incredible. I really could stay and look all day! I did actually stay for quite a while and was never even acknowledged by any of the employees there. I was a little surprised because if you visit Joe Canal's or Total Wine, you are always asked if you are looking for something particular. I am giving three stars because while the variety of spirits was incredible, I found the customer service here almost nonexistent except for the really nice girl at Will Call. I had ordered a couple of bottles of wine on line and went to Will Call to pick them up. The girl behind the counter was lovely and apologized that I had to wait while she helped another customer with a return. No problem. The other customer had a question about some sediment in his bottles of white wine. I waited for a few minutes while the girl repeatedly called for a wine specialist to come to the counter to help the other customer. Much to my surprise, no one came. The other customer finally just asked for a refund from the very apologetic girl. As she turned to help me, a slovenly looking guy who I'm guessing was a "wine specialist" came over and told her , "You don't need to call me if someone is just returning something." The girl then told him that she called for help because the customer (who had bought a case of wine) actually had a question. The guy never acknowledged her and just walked away. The girl and I looked at each other in disbelief. Really Mr. Slovenly Wine Specialist? Is that how you treat a customer? By the way, I work in customer service and I would never be rude to a customer or in front of other customers. I won't be coming back to Wine Library. I'd rather spend my hard-earned money at a place that appreciates its customers--like Joe Canal's or Total Wine. read more

EVERYTIME I have gone in, there has been someone there that knows wine, and has been able to find me a wine to my taste within my budget. I purchased a case of different wines (as I do two or three times a year) most are awesome but this time one of the wines was corked. What happened to this place??? This place used to be amazing, over the past few years it has gotten progressively worse. This review is really aimed at the craft beer side of things as that was usually my reason for going there. I have been a customer with an account there since at least mid-2010. In the beginning, they had an amazing beer department with a great beer expert there. They got many rare and amazing craft brews, plus if you had an account with a credit card on file, you could order the beers and have them available for you. Unfortunately, back in late 2013 or early 2014, that amazing beer expert left for a better job and everything went to hell. Since then, they have had massive turnover in the beer department. People quitting, people getting fired, but nobody really knowing or caring much about beer. I had orders for rare beers, but instead of filling those orders, they just placed the items on the shelf and let people buy the entire case. Many of you would probably think this isn't such a big deal, but when many liquor stores only allow the purchase of either 1 bottle or 1 4-pack, buying a case is a big deal. The beer department also no longer stocks many craft beers. The past few times I have been there the shelves in the beer department had more empty space than bottles, and what was on the shelf was a lot of the cheap crappy swill we all drank in college. I went from spending between $500-$2500 a year stocking my beer cellar, to no longer shopping there. In addition to all the money I would spend on beer, many trips would involve stopping in the gourmet department, where my wife would always pick up a few things. I also used to buy gift cards for family members that are into wine. Sadly, they have lost my business and are no longer worth visiting. read more

Shopping at the Wine Library is a delight and an experience. They have scoured the planet for every wine and gourmet food product that you could ever want and the people that work there are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The wines are organized by country and the gourmet section is huge. When you go there - do yourself a favor and set aside some time to browse. You can pop in and grab some wine and cheese on the fly but it's really fun to walk around and peruse everything- the place is enormous. What really sets the Wine Library apart is not just the superior quality and amazing selection of their products. They also have a gifted and committed staff that is so well versed about wine and cheese as to be able to combine them in magical ways that are so amazing that they blow you away. The Wine Library did a Wine and Cheese tasting at my 40th birthday party. The preparation that went into this event was very personalized. Christina and Stephen are so good at what they do I could not have asked for more professional people to work with. They listened to what I wanted and gave me something better than I ever could have hoped for. The Wines, Cheeses, Charcuterie and Snacks selected for the tasting were so unique and interesting that no one at the party had ever heard of them before but everyone raved about them. Some of the guests took empty wine bottles home so as not to forget the names of the wines they liked and all asked for the lists of the cheeses to be emailed to them as soon as possible so the could run right out the Wine Library themselves to acquire them. This was an unforgettable soiree. The rest of the celebration after the tasting went incredibly well because the Wine Library did such an extraordinary job. People were so happy and enlivened with good cheese and wine that all of them went on and on praising us as hosts for the rest of the night about how awesome the tasting was and how they can't wait to do one themselves for their next party. Expertise like what they have at the Wine Library is so invaluable. Go there to get stuff for your own dinner or cocktail party, or when you need a hostess gift, or just when you want something special for yourself. They even offer to bring cases of wine out to your car and they ship their wares in the mail. read more

So we purchase hundreds of dollars of wine from the folks every year. We stop in to buy $75 worth if wine and cheese. We would like 6 empty wine/beer boxes for moving. We were told no.
