Years ago I had a bad experience at this place and vowed to not return because of it. I was searching for a particular pale ale beer that is hard to find and I discovered they carry it. To my surprise, I had a much better experience this time. I called before going to confirm they had what I was looking for in stock. They had plenty! They appear to be under new ownership/management. This is one of my favorite wine shops primarily due to the selection and price. They have a great selection while also not overwhelming: wine from all over the world. I also appreciate the staff recommendations and ratings, which are helpful to tasting new wines and finding those new gems. I find their prices are most often a notch under other wine/liquor stores (even wine.com), so I make a point of buying here, especially if I'm buying extra for guests or a gifts. This wine/ liquor store definitely gives other places a run for their money! The liquor section is really great and unique and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. I got to have a 10 minute conversation with one of the workers who walked me through a series of liquors i had never heard of but was super intrigued by! This is the best liquor store in the freaking universe, not to say anything of the New York Metro area. I mean, they have a display of 30 Rose's that are all dry, and in the bourbon section they carry Willett Distillery(my FIL would flip). This store is really fantastic. Location is easy with ample parking. It is a moderately sized shop - not Wine Library or Total Wine & More scale - but large enough to feel roomy and to offer a substantial selection without overwhelming. They have it all here. Wine from just about any region you could want, practically any spirit your little heart desires, and of course the beer. Man, if you are a beer enthusiast, this place is a must. The first time I came in, it was quickly to grab a bottle of wine for a party. I glanced at the beer coolers and thought to myself, "Self, you should really come back here again and investigate those beer coolers when you have more time." So I eventually did just that and I almost fell over when I realized the extent and depth of their collection. The entire back wall of the store is pretty much composed of beer coolers. There is also a fairly impressive bottle selection that is unrefrigerated (porters, stouts, Belgian, etc). The kicker is the beer cave behind the coolers. That's where the real goodies are and if you look carefully or ask one of the attendants, you never know what you might find back there. To top it all, the staff are always super friendly and helpful. The prices are fair and if I have ever been searching for something they didn't have, they offer to get it. Helpful staff, if a bit over eager. I might have browsed and purchased more if the fellow behind the counter weren't compelled to help me make a selection quickly. On the other hand, he helped me accomplish the task quickly. I can't comment on the selection yet, but apart from as mentioned by another reviewer, the store seems big and has a good variety. This is the best liquor store in the area. They always have ample stock and are friendly and knowledgeable about all the different wines, beers & liquors in the store! Placed an online order from Out-of-State for a local gift. The store contacted me by phone to verify the order was a gift and who should be picking it up. When the purchase was picked up by the recipient, the store had packaged it as a gift unbeknownst to me! This was a great surprise to me as they were actually able to open it for Christmas. I called in a special delivery for a friend who was getting married in NJ and I couldn't travel there. They found the perfect champagne, made sure there was a card, handled a little snafu with grace and quickly, and were extremely communicative. Big parking lot. Comfortable spot to get what you want. I like that they have a good selection of ipa. It's been hard finding selections of ipas around the area. Price is fair. Whiskey is always at a great price. Sometimes they reduce price on selected items. I like that they don't waste paper by printing a receipt. My favorite store for beer in the area hands down. Great selection of local and international beers. The polish beers are a value and not something most other places carry. Came here for Thanksgiving shopping and I must say it is HUGE! Great selection of wines and I appreciate them putting the wine by order of country. There are a few wines that are placed by type (i.e. pinot noir, pinot grigio, etc.). Customer service is impeccable and the staff knows their stuff. Highly recommended! read more

What a great place to run into! This place treats its customers with much respect. They are there to help you and have a beautiful selection of drinks. Beer selection = good, fair prices. Wine selection = too run of the mill (Beringer, Woodbridge, etc.). Needs reinforcements in French, Spanish, Italian, German, Southern Hemisphere and wines from more artisanal producers that come from suppliers such as David Bowler, Martin Scott Wines, Weygandt Selections, Polaner, etc. Prices for certain benchmark wines are high, for example Mark West Pinot Noir (widely available in the area) is $13.99, when you can get it for $9.40 at Wine Library. Also, having worked in the wine industry, it is a big no-no to store expensive bottles of wine standing up (the corks don't stay moist). There are plenty of overpriced, poorly stocked wine stores in Maplewood, don't become one of them. Here's hoping for progress. read more
