Excellent experience. I ordered a variety of wines from Wine Library, from France, Argentina, and Spain - All 90+ points wine, all under $20 each. The wines were incredibly delightful; I usually get heartburn with wines under $20, but I had no such experience with these wines as they were high quality and lovely. I've ordered 2-3 times so far from winelibrary.com. We are now in the coronavirus pandemic, and I've seen that all the wine shippers are pretty overwhelmed. As a result, it's taken Wine Library about ten days to get my order delivered; "pre-corona" they were pretty quick, about 2-3 days (about $25 per case, FedEx). They have an interesting selection with some hard-to-find items, and reasonable prices. A strength is their communication ability: they are responsive, courteous and helpful. read more

This is one of the few business success stories that is truly deserving of its merits. The Vaynerchuk Family are excellent business people who know and sell great wine. Their phone and online business is second to none. Their assistance with wine selection and recommendations is the best I have ever seen. Their variety of wine is excellent and what they don't have, they will try to get. The cheese department is filled with great selections. And up on the second floor, there are the top shelf collections of wine and spirits. Their prices are fair to good. There is a parking lot on the premises. This store spoiled me. It ruined all other wine stores for me. I have been a customer for 12 years, and have seen it transform from its old, inelegant and garage-like location to its beautiful new building around the corner. It has always had extremely helpful and knowledgeable sales staff and great prices on most of its wines. It has always had a depth of selection unparalleled in the area (only Gary's in Madison even comes close). The beer selection is interesting, as are its single malt scotches, rums, sparkling wines and liqueurs. But what I particularly love is the gourmet food section. It is amazing, Their staff, led by the wonderfully knowledgeable Everett, treats cheese with amazing respect. It is so much better - and better priced - than comparably stocked departments at Whole Foods and Fairway. Especially the parmiggiano reggiano, which always seems to be perfect here (and the price is great). I also love the Spanish ham, the Jeni gourmet gelatos, the preserves, the olive oils, the Mexican chocolates. i could go on and on. The weekend cheese tastings are a treat. They are also good business - everyone seems to buy after tasting! Justin from the gourmet department recently became manager of the entire store and has already put his mark on it. He has moved things around in a big way and it was a great change. I found everything to be more accessible and the overall layout makes a lot more sense. As someone else mentioned, parking on the weekend and especially before holidays can be rather tight, so try to go early or late unless you are patient. Decent selection, but their service is terrible. Seem to be nice enough, but overwhelmed and not trained in customer service. My last two orders with them were screwed up - one they had to cancel because their inventory online lagged behind their actual inventory (didn't really have it in stock), the other they made no attempt to make good with me (though months after the fact they checked with a supplier but just to try to deflect my issue). I stupidly prepaid their membership to get the free shipping thinking I would make regular orders, but its sort of scammy if they don't have the product and won't stand behind their service. Disappointing, but there are so many other wine sellers out there that are an absolute pleasure to work with. My Jewish and Italian friends and all ethnic backgrounds---I was in the Wine Library on Morris Avenue in Springfield, NJ to purchase kosher wines. I walked in and went up to the second floor and asked for assistance. This lazy young man was totally not helpful and disrespectful and in addition he was dressed inappropriately with his derriere (butt crack) hanging down from his pants. he was at his workplace not the streets. I asked his name and he responded "What do you have to know for"? I went downstairs and reported him to the Assistant night manager. She couldn't care less. The other employees weren't wearing their masks appropriately (hanging underneath their nostrils) . They are in violation of the state of NJ mandates and in violation of CDC guidelines. My friends-my suggestion to you is not to purchase any liquor and products from Wine Library. When I asked them to fix their masks, they began to taunt and imitate me. I have always purchased my "kosher wine" at this store. I bought liquor for all of my celebrations such as weddings of my three young adults, for holidays, for gifts when I visit my friends and family outside of NJ. Had a scary experience. Major pluses and major minuses here. On the upside, the selection of wines and spirits is amazing. Row after row, stocked floor to ceiling with selections. They have a gourmet food section which, while expensive, is also quite impressive. Wine Library can be a fun place to browse or shop, if you manage to avoid the pitfalls. As for the minuses, where do I begin? Lighting is inadequate. Sales associates are eager, but very poor in their product knowledge; if you don't know what you want, you're only going to get frustrated. Their prices are a mix of reasonable and high. Saving the worst for last, the Wine Library parking lot ranks among the worst in the area; you will regret not waiting for off-peak days and hours. There aren't enough spaces to accommodate half of their traffic, and the shape of the lot makes it hard to maneuver. Forget about making a left turn back onto Morris Ave, you'll need to turn right and eventually find Old Short Hills Rd. read more

Not sure what happened to their beer section? A year or so ago it was solid; their fridges were filled to the brim, with a bunch of interesting bottles in the aisle. The past few months, the fridges are probably 1/3 full (with nothing particularly special) and the bottle section is probably half the size from last year. There's always a lot of empty space in the fridges the past few months, for whatever reason. There used to be fresh new releases and labeled "staff picks", but now it's mostly year-round offerings with not much in terms of seasonal or rare releases. I have to assume there's a different beer manager than a year ago and they just don't care as much. Wine selection is solid as usual, but the beer selection is very lacking compared to a year or so ago. Disappointing. read more

Yes. From 5 stars to 2 in just a few months. I hadn't been back to the Wine Library since our first visit last summer. I stopped in today to pick up some wine for a girls night in I'm hosting this weekend. Like I always do when I'm planning a party, I'd emailed my uncle who is a sommelier and distributor about recommendations to go with my menu of Chinese takeout for dinner and breakfast pizza in the morning. My uncle had made some broad recommendations, so I was hoping to get specific help in the store. I didn't. The first few employees said nothing to me. Then the next person gave me a blank stare as I explained what I needed, and passed me off to a manager. Then he got pulled into helping someone engrave a bottle of Blue Label (I know - my order couldn't possibly compete), so I had to explain my needs to a 3rd person in fewer than 5 minutes. And then he proceeded to be difficult for a good 20 minutes. Like any good hostess, and as someone who has my own personal palate, I wanted to have red wine with our meal. My fiance, Kenny L., can explain the finer points of red wine with Chinese food, but I know that that's a) what we normally do and b) what I like. My uncle had made red and white recommendations, so I was planning on getting 1 red, 1-2 white, and 2 bubbles for mimosas. But I had to spend a fair amount of time listening to overpriced recommendations of white wine. Seriously...what about me says that I'm willing to spend $32 on a RIESLING????!!!?! Especially when I say that I don't want to spend more than $50 for everything? Eventually he showed me some more reasonably priced options. Then I had to tackle his refusal to show me red. I tried every "educated wine buyer" technique in the book to help guide him to recommendations (or force him to show me the sangiovese or petite sirah that my uncle had recommended) but it took FOREVER for him to just give me what I wanted. I tried saying what I've liked in the past. Pointing out the recommendations. And finally I explained that not all Chinese food is heavy, spicy, and oily - and while the take out will lean that way as Americanized Chinese food tends to - so it can pair with a variety of wines. Many dishes are especially delicious with red. Especially food from Hong Kong or Cantonese food which tends to honor fresh ingredients along the lines of French food. I finally got to leave. I got some (hopefully) good wine. But I won't be back. As other reviewers also said - the approach to service, education, and sales do not jive with how I want to be treated. I don't want to be looked down on for turning to delicious and inexpensive Crane Lake. I want staff who is open to making recommendations based on my preferences (both in terms of price and the wine). And I want staff who is willing to learn with me and broaden their ideas of pairings. But instead I got a hard sale for wines that were outside of my price point and not what I wanted to serve from someone who refused to take the journey with me. So I will be journeying elsewhere next time (probably to Bottle Rocket in Manhattan). read more

Gary is rad. Gary knows a lot about wine. Gary does not rehearse his dialogue (i'm pretty sure.) Most of all, Gary rides a thin line between annoying, hilarious, and captivating while reviewing wines in his DAILY wine video tastings. Like Sauvignon Blanc, Gary Vaynerchuk is an acquired taste. I've been enjoying his videos for a few weeks now, and I'm not even a wine snob. His analogies can make you LOL like any great youtube funny. His modern pop culture references - "if I had a Zelda sword I could probably fight off this Oak Monster" - keep it real. I think any big time wine freak should definitely check out his videos. Even if you're just mildly interested in wine like me, he's quite entertaining and you will learn a lot. The tastings can be educational, even influencing my wine purchase tonight. I have not visited or tried the giant New Jersey based wine store that Gary's family owns, but the website looks pretty good. I'm sure if I were in the market for rare $96 bottles of wine more often I would dig the selection offered. And if I lived in Ohio it would probably make more sense to use his website, but I live in California and there's plenty of wine stores here. The wine consultant was able to suggest a number of wines that paired well with the menu of our dinner party, and he recommended a Lambrusco as a substitute for a sparkling merlot that we love. we really wish they had humidor with a selection of fine cigars to pair with their spirits. read more

WL has a vast selection of wines at reasonable prices--a very good place to check for reasonably priced foreign wines. You can order online and pickup when you arrive, skipping the worst long lines. They will try to order wines they do not have and respond to inquiries very quickly. Their owner was one of the first wine people to exploit the internet for publicity. The most unreliable online wine shop I've ever used. I order a lot of wine online and rarely have issues. However, my two attempts to order online from wine library both ended in failure on their part. Previously, I had an order delayed forever because they didn't have something in stock even though they indicated that they did on their website when I ordered. There seems to be a disconnect between store inventory and online inventory. I kept checking the item on their website and even after it reappeared there as in stock, my order still was not shipped and it was not until I contacted customer service that they resumed the process of shipping my order. After i contacted them they told me that it coincidentally had JUST reappeared in stock when i emailed them. (even though I saw it reappear in stock on their website 2 days before) The dishonesty is not appreciated. Recently, I had another order delayed. Their website says that orders ship to my area in 1-2 days. However, over a week later, my recent order remained unshipped. Attempts to reach out to customer service gets you nothing but empty promises. It was not until 8 days later that they got around to shipping my order and only after I reached out to customer service again. I have never had to wait that long for a simple wine shipment and it screwed up my plans since I was ordering for a holiday party. I cancelled that order. 2 mishandled orders in a row mean that this is a chronic issue. They are too unreliable. Whomever is handling their online orders is doing the company a disservice and i will go elsewhere in the future read more

A great selection of wines, okay selectoin of liquors(smaller selection of shots) and meh selction of beer. Adequately priced. But something no one noticed? The store smells like BUTT. My God lol. It's pretty strong too, and doesn't dissapate. They should consider leaving open the doors for a couple days. The older gentleman who helps with wines is helpful but definitely the older generation. It looks like a corporate hell hole from the outside but inside...inside.... you are greeted by the amazing stink of cheese. to your right, at least 8 different types of cheeses are available for sampling. go nuts. the prices on the cuts of cheese are so so right and the selection rivals Murray's in nyc. as a cheese obsessed gal, i could have spent HOURS musing over their cheeses. the people behind the counter have insanely extensive knowledge. walked away with about 6 different cheeses and only spent $26! this aint no shoppers gross out selection. no plastic wrapped velvetta here thank god. it's all artisnal. i got me a scharff max and some amazing aged mahon, to name a few. the wine selection is amazing, high prices than say, trader joes, but they have a ton of $9.99 wines and everything is quality. people are so ready and willing to help make suggestions as well, and all the guys working here are SO friendly. upstairs we enjoyed a free tasting and got to taste from a $150 bottle! such a treat. even the music they have playing had me wanting to browse all afternoon. id come here every day if it were closer. maybe i should quit my day job to work here? read more

This is such a gorgeous store. We try to stop in whenever we are in the area. Dark wood and a mezzanine do indeed suggest a library. Consultants are employed liberally to give advice and guide you to the right section. And the deals positioned near the doors truly are good deals, not an effort to unload overstock or junk. We are loving their own label called The Neighbor, a velvety friendly wonderful Paso Robles blend. And it appears that you can now ship wine to PA. Sign up for their mailing list and get a free shipping coupon. I normally hate logo stuff but not here and wish they had Wine Library merchandise for the librarians in my life. I'd love to go to one of their tastings too. They were setting one up for Barolo ($$$) when I was there, but I guess it was later. I'd like to see them get smaller grocery carts like PA stores have. This is the big Internet wine retailer's storefront. I have been going to Wine Library since it was just a small store with no internet sales. The Veynerchuk family has done a great job in building a Wine Empire near my hometown. You can find tons of great wines here at great prices. There are plenty of quality bottles in the $10-15 range, plus lots of the expensive library stuff that you crave. While they don't always have the big names like Silver Oak and Cakebread, they have plenty of high end vino in the vault upstairs -- enough to make your head and wallet spin. They have a notable gourmet cheese and meats section, and a fine spirits and microbrew selection as well. read more

Wow STOCK UP HERE! I got the X-Large Grey Goose for $55! Its $75 in the liquor store and $74 at Costco. I also got the X-large Tanqueray for $37 (normally $55) and some Tequilas. I was not even going here for liquor but man did I leave with a car full. Oh and the wine? Hella selection if you are looking for it, they have it and for less than you expected. A declining value and quality that no longer live up to the once deserved superior reputation. Competitors with less prestigious names have moved forward, both in terms of creative sourcing, overall shopping experience and competitive pricing. I still shop there fairly regularly because of the very convenient location but it is no longer a cut above the rest. During my last visit the adherence to the face covering rules was shockingly poor among the staff members, in contrast with good signage and responsibly behaving customers. The lady behind the deli counter was happily chatting away with another worker while cutting and wrapping cheese, both with their masks on her chin. None of the young men working on the floor had a mask covering the mouth and nose. When I pointed it out to the manager, he claimed not to have noticed any such behavior. It is a pity to see such poor employee discipline in an upscale wine store. read more

What's not to like here? Fantastic selection at all price levels, rare finds, and unique selections not found anywhere else are all staples at the Library. We stopped in on our way back to Philadelphia after a weekend with family in NY and NJ. The store was busy and there were two separate tasting areas set up on this Sunday afternoon. The second floor had even more unique wines and a very cool selection of ports and aperitifs. They carry Fernet Branca, which I'm currently obsessed with. The prices are not obscene. I'm lucky to live so close to my favorite wine store. Everything is carefully curated by people who know their wine, beer, and food. It's impossible for me to walk out with just a bottle of wine. They carry an impressive array of gourmet foods, from charcuterie to Counter Culture coffee to Callebaut chocolate to Jeni's ice cream. And sticky toffee pudding! Their cheese counter is impressive and their samples are plenty. As far as wine goes, they almost always stock what I seek, and I generally do not have trouble getting staff recommendations when I need them. The prices are in line with other stores in the area, but sometimes they run specials on great wines as well. Their craft beer selection is pretty great, too, although not the biggest I've seen. I have to agree with other reviewers that parking is pretty cruddy. It's sort of a peculiar location and building for a wine store. Getting into and out of the lot can sometimes be problematic. We usually try to go on weeknights to avoid the traffic. read more

If you like eating and drinking, you'll find all sorts of things to love here. Wine Library offers up a deep selection of liquors, including hard-to-find ryes like Lock, Stock & Barrel and Whistle Pig Boss Hog. They've got a good range of scotches - not just your standard 12 & 18-year olds, but special bottlings & cask finishings, older bottles, etc. - as well as plenty of gins, vodkas, and the like. They don't have everything, but what they have is very good, and for each spirit they offer both mainstream & boutique choices. Pricing is surprisingly good for a brick-and-mortar store, let alone one located in this zip code. In many cases, the prices match the best ones you'll find online, which is remarkable. They've also got a good selection of cocktail accessories: a wide range of bitters, orgeat, Luxardo cherries, Coco Lopez, you name it. The gourmet food selection is very good, worth the trip for that alone. Lots of good cheeses and cured meats, good coffee, all sorts of different salts, butters, etc. All in all, one of my favorite area liquor stores. read more

We made our first pilgrimage to Wine Library about 3 weeks after getting to enjoy a wine tasting with Gary V himself at Sagra Cooking. I've since fallen in a trance with Wine Library TV, and I'd developed a long enough list to make it worth the drive. Wine Library is everything that we expected and more! Gary plays down his store more than he should. They have almost anything you'd want, and if they don't have it, they'll try and get it for you. They have great employees and plenty of them. We took about an hour to wander around and found what we could on our list while pushing away help, and then we found someone to help us find those last few bottles that we couldn't find. Everyone we talked to was knowledgeable and helpful. Pricing was very good as well. As a PA-er, I'm used to shopping through the PCLB...I wish that they would can the old fashioned rules so that I can import my wine from the Wine Library instead of having to make the hour drive each way to pick it up. read more
