I have been here so many times they even recognize me from my husband and today was just so off putting to me. I ran in from the pouring rain to grab a few bottles for the weekend and I had to use the ladies room. I go to the door and am stopped by a worker saying I needed to go to the front to get the key. ( the bathroom is allllllllll the way in the back) I said ugh omg I have to go so bad. Ok. I run up ask for the key and was stopped by two cashiers who seemed liked I was asking for a foreign object in a different language. I had to ask about three times before they responded and gave me the key. I also brought up two bottles so they knew I was a paying costumer. I used the facilities grab two more bottles and approach the cashier. I make a comment about the price of a tequila wondering why the price has more than tripled and am again met with no response. I just laugh to myself and pull out my cash to pay. The male cashier puts my four bottles in one PAPER bag. Remember it's pouring out. What a JOKE. Won't be back. And won't recommend anymore. I hate more than anything rudeness, especially when I am spending MY MONEY. Thanks but no thanks. read more

Today was probably my 10th visit to Vine Republic. I walked in at 5:50pm. At 5:57, all the lights were turned off. It was pitch black. I could hear someone at the front say: "hey, there's still someone in the Wine area." Apparently, they were looking to close. I had no idea. But the fact that they knew I was there and turned ALL the lights off - and then when confronted by their own employee kept me in complete darkness was unbelievable. I was just a lowly customer, looking for a bottle of wine. No one bothered to say: "excuse me, Sir, we're closing now". Nothing. From a commercial point of view - I know of no one who goes into wine shops and leaves empty handed. So that's just plain dumb to not give me a heads up so I can grab something. From a moral point of view - is that the way to treat people who decide to visit your store? I've never felt welcomed at VR. No one has ever said thank you - or have a nice day at the register. No matter how much I spend. It's just been odd and uniquely rude. This is the kind of stereotypical wine shop that gives wine shops a snooty reputation. I buy a lot of wine every week - from many shops. No where else acts this way. Today, I got the hint. I'm not welcome. I don't matter. I will not return. With so many wine shops around, I suggest you think twice about visiting this one. Or, bring your mining helmet and a fresh set of batteries. read more

I'm so glad this place still exists in an area where you usually have to pick between Wal-Mart-type liquor stores and tiny locally-owned stores with limited selection. Vine Republic, to me, brings together the best of both worlds. It's big enough so that I always find what I'm looking for, and yet I get to talk to the owner most times I'm there. Staff is always helpful with wine selections or just finding a particular liquor or beer. Prices are great too. They're as low as anyone else's and definitely lower than your average smaller liquor stores. In short, you can't go wrong here. read more

Vine republic came highly recommended from a friend. So I was hoping they would come through on a last minute wedding "party favor" order. I wanted 75 half bottles(or smaller) of port wine. It was Monday when I stopped in and my wedding was that Saturday. I had been told by others that port wine is difficult to get in a small size. I spoke with Russ I believe. He was friendly, courteous and efficient. Assured me that they were available and called me by Wednesday that they were in. He didn't request a deposit or anything. Reminded me of a small local family owned liquor store. But the place definitely felt much nicer than a local liquor store (it's beautiful inside). And gave me an unbelievably low price. I had gotten a quote from a friend who was giving me his employee discount from a different liquor store and Russ almost matched the price exactly. I didn't mind paying a little extra for the convenience (my friends place was further out of the way). Kudos to all at Vine Republic, you have definitely earned a new customer here :-) read more

I found Vine Republic whilst using winesearch for finding great prices on Scotch Whisky. This store absolutely blows away large alcohol stores such as Total Wine, and the ABC store chain here in Florida. I was then surprised to see that this store was located in my old hometown in Mountainside, New Jersey, and I had purchased from the previous (Bliwise) store here back in the late 1970's. A very nice woman from Vine Republic called to ask me if I wanted my Scotch display box's shipped with the order (I did), and she patiently listened while I reminisced about my lifetime of good memories of Echo Lake Park, which is viewable right from Vine Republic. I remembered: Ice skating on Echo Lake with my Dad, and a small park lakeside lodge with a crackling fire inside. Once, the dam at Echo Lake had burst, draining the lake, my Grandmother took me there and I spotted a blue glass bottle in the lake bed,which I retrieved, and was found to be a bottle from the Elizabeth Brewery. Also viewable from Vine Republic is a nice hill in Echo Lake Park, which we took our kids sleigh riding down, in Winter (and have recently transferred the VCR tapes of this to DVD's.) There used to be Summer concerts in Echo Lake Park next to a wider hill for great sledding further in to the Park, near Geiger's Cider Mill (which was where I also worked in the late 1970's). In closing, I received my Scotch whisky order, packed with care, and with the display box's enclosed, which is something. read more

Not only are their prices competitive or better than the "big discount" liquor stores, their customer service and knowledge of their inventory is better than any liquor store I have been in. Ordered wine to be shipped to my house. Normally wine stores will ship within 24 hours and send confirming information. Not Vine Republic. I didn't hear anything so I called and it was like I was bothering them. The response I got was that "the girl didn't get to it so possibly tomorrow." Unacceptable response. Three stars for just being conveniently close to my work place. Has a very cozy / inviting feel to it. A few drawbacks however. They advertise items as In stock and when you go to the store the shelf and supply room is empty. Their prices online are significantly cheaper than what is on the shelves in the store. The young guys that work there seem more interested In trying to get some from the female customers that walk In rather than trying to actually help people find something. read more

Their prices are very competitive, and wine selections are best among all of New Jersey wine shops. I go there every month and almost always get some great deals. By far, this is my top liquor store. There are at least a dozen other places that are closer to my house, but it's worth the extra trip for the following reasons. It's a big clean pleasant place with an excellent selection of wine, beer and liquor. The wines are logically laid out with tons of reviews posted so you can get a better idea of what you're buying and seek out some great bargains. Most importantly, the reviews actually represent the correct year. In so many other places, you see a great review posted for the 2011 Chateau XYZ and all of the bottles on the shelf are 2012. The other places are either lazy or deceptive, but this place is on it. Their prices are excellent, which is pleasantly surprising given their proximity to Westfield, which can be bit pricey. Bought a bottle of 150 grand mereir.... Price was cheap so I bought it. Next day I get an email that they are out of stock. I said I will wait till it is back in stock, they hemmed and hawed, next day got email will ship wine for free if i except the liqueur was out of stock. They messed up big time advertise wrong price wrong bottle and tried to trick me, and sent me a hundred year totally different! Called and talked to Russel...... Started yelling at me, started yelling and swearing at his employees who shipped me the bottle. said every curse and swear word imaginable towards me and his employees, then hung up the phone on me.... He will not honor his mistake on advertisement...told me i was shit out of luck!...
