Are you kidding me? $5 cocktails for happy hr? I'm in! What a steal. I had to order two old fashions which had a great balance of whiskey and bitter but the amount of water was a bit too much. I love the fact that they use Bulleit as their base. Next came their French 75 which wasn't what I expected. This was more of a Collins or a gin & tonic with sweeter bite. I expected a raspberry of some sort with a pink-ish color. Regardless of the drink, it was pretty good and did enough to keep my buzz going lol Their appetizers were on point. We ordered bruschetta with fresh tomato and mozzarella on top with a generous amount of basil and sweet balsamic vinegar that had a thick syrup consistency. This was off the hook! Their ahi tuna tacos were amazing as well. This was basically a fried won ton chip with a small cube of ahi tuna and sweet balsamic vinegar. It was again, an amazing creation that was enough to fill my short appetite. This place is much different from the inside than what it looks from the outside. To be honest, it's not appealing whatsoever until you step inside. The rustic Tuscany furniture with high tables for four, dim lighting, that vintage winery vibe, and that calm atmosphere. For Wichita, this is a 5 star. I have been here maybe 10-15 times over the past 2 years. The ambiance is a little boxy - but thankfully it is a small place so that doesn't hurt as much. It has a patio so you can sit outside in warm weather, and to me that is always a plus. The menu is extensive and filled with scrumptious items so I am not going to outline what I have eaten over the past two years, you'll just have to trust me. First time here with wife and son and very fun for a date night. Extensive wine list! Started with coconut shrimp on mango salsa with a orange flavored dipping sauce with the consistently of a marmalade. Wife also ordered deviled eggs. I've never been a fan in general but she is a huge fan so plus there. I ordered chipotle chicken. On the spicy side but well worth it. Green salsa with rice, asparagus and topped with sliced avocado. Went here for a dinner date with my husband. Very intimate, small, tastefully decorated restaurant. Great wine/cocktail selection! Caesar salad starter was wonderful! Lots of shaved Parmesan, crispy, fresh romaine, and tasty dressing. Filet was to die for! Grilled asparagus was just right, and plentiful! I opted for additional seasonal veggies instead of mashed potatoes, and the zucchini was fabulous! Broccoli could have used a tad more cooking, but was fresh. Hubby had crab cakes...large, good ratio of crab-to-breading. He opted for mashed potatoes, and said they were "passable" but not great. They do have a good wine list and the staff is very helpful. I opted for the ahi tuna, which is one of my favorites. This was good- it was served with an asian twist, huge kicks of flavor but the tuna took a backseat to the risotto and slaw. I also tried the scallops-- this was also good. My husband & I had dinner here tonight & it was more than just great! We started the Queso Fundido which was warm, rich & creamy. The vegetables are a perfect pairing. I hade a Lemon Basil Drop, which I'd not had before. The basil soothed the sour of the lemon & made for a very smooth drink. My husband enjoyed the Cowboy Ribeye & I had the Duck Confit. Wow! The roasted duck wasn't at all gamey. The spices of the reduction sauce paired perfectly with spinach veggie blend of carrots, sweet onion & bell pepper. A group of friends visited the Wine Dive on Saturday, Aug 20th to celebrate a friend's bday and had the WORST experience I have ever encountered at a restaurant. We each ordered a cocktail, a couple appetizers for the table, and our meals. The server was fantastic (did not catch his name) and the drinks were great..shout out to the bartender...and this is where the evening took a turn. Upon our food arriving, the birthday girl was displeased with the burger (no bun) that she ordered. It was overcooked but somehow the bacon ground in it was rubbery. The burger had a texture and color that gave the appearance of being steamed vs grilled and had no discernable amount of the relish or aoili. The table convinced her to return it, as it was her bday and deserved to enjoy her dinner. Shortly after returning the burger the Manager on duty (her name started with an M) stormed to the table with her hand on her hip and demanded we tell her what was wrong with the burger to "ensure we don't return anything else" but never once asked what she could do to make it better or asked if she'd like something else. After explaining what she didn't like about the burger the manager responded with "this is our best seller." For several minutes she stood at the table, getting increasingly louder and more rude, even being asked to leave our table many times but continued to cause a scene in her own place of work. To make matters worse, the other meals at the table were also lackluster. The lamb burger was over cooked and flavorless. The crab cakes were soggy and the risotta had raw chunks of onion. Neither of which were sent back for fear of being yelled at by the manager! In an effort to quickly remedy this situation we received our tabs and left. The manager refused to provide the owner contact information. We were a table of disable veterans, accents, and tattoos. I have no doubt that this was a classic case of discrimination and had we "looked" like everyone else, we would have never been treated in this manner. The server lost out on what would have been a much larger tab with more drinks and desserts and the Wine Dive has lost 5 customers (hopefully many more) over a single hamburger patty! If I was the owner of this establishment I would be embarrassed and ashamed to know that my manager treated my customers in this way. read more

I have to leave one star off because the ahi tuna nachos were the worst I've tasted, so fishy. The rest of the meal was fantastic so make sure to try this place. I had the Cuban with sweet potato fries which both were tasty. The Drunken bread app was nice. Making me scan a qr code with my phone to view drink list was ok but I imagine some people don't like that. Cheesecake 5 stars and chocolate tort 5 stars. Horrible service...the excuse, as if you can have one, was "our bartender left and we got busy inside" sooooooo don't eat on the patio as that area is not important. Probably why we were the only ones out on the patio to begin with, but when I asked for management due to our waitress's inability to serve us any of the dishes (thank GOD for the hostess) or deliver ketchup for the fries in under 12 minutes or check on us between the delivery of food and complete consumption as well as her terrible attitude...guess who came? The bartender...lie or did a new bartender just arrive for the emergency of Saturday lunch. In either case, who cares as there wasn't any management on-site to take care of unexpected situations putting the pressures on a hostess, waitress and/or bartender. I cannot recommend this restaurant ever...too bad as the food was good, but who cares if they have a bad front end. The "bartender" took the criticism better than the waitress, but still hallow excuses from her without attitude. This is the reason for management and why some are not ready. The workers think "whew situation avoided"...what they don't understand is repercussions of actions. This place is now #4 of 4 restaurants in Wichita to NOT dine. read more

We thought we'd give them a try on a Sunday afternoon, not realizing they were serving a brunch menu vs a regular lunch menu. This turned out to be a mistake for us as we felt it was a rather limited menu attempting to offer more breakfast items than lunch items and we were more in he mode for lunch. I went with the croque monsieur sandwich and a side of pasta salad. I enjoyed the sand which but thought the Dijon mustard was slightly heavy on the horseradish, which caused my eyes to occasionally water. The pasta salad was heavy on the onion and because of that not something I'll order again. My wife went with the American breakfast, which included potatoes, bacon, Italian sausage, eggs and toast. The eggs were cooked appropriately. The meats were of good quality. The potatoes, however, tasted like they came straight out of a bag in the freezer. Total bill with two soft drinks was just under $23 before tip. So the bill was appropriate for the quality of food. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service was average. If you're looking for high end dining with a fancy menu, it's not really it. If you're looking for a nice atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices and a good drink/wine selection it's a nice place to go. I think it's probably a better restaurant for someone looking for a nice atmosphere, drinks and a menu nicer than a brewpub. read more

We've been meaning to hit this place up for a while now and I'm glad I finally did. My bestie and I did a wine night and went out for a break from the kids. The red sangria was amazing. We split the cost of a carafe which was $25 (12.50 each) and probably got 2.5 glasses each out of it which saves you money considering it's $9 per glass otherwise. When we checked in on yelp we got a coupon for a free appetizer so we ordered the bruschetta. So good and flavorful. Fresh basil and tomatoes on warm bread. Would definitely order again. We didn't eat dinner but got a dessert. She got the creme brûlée which I took a bite. It was warm and crunchy. Tasted wonderful. I ordered the Irish cream cheesecake. It was amazing. Very flavorful. It's hard to disappointment me when it comes to cheesecake. Servers were very friendly. Came here on a Sunday night with my girlfriend. Based on her recommendation, they are glutton free on a few items. Which is great for her. Walking towards the place, you notice small interesting things about the establishment. They have a unique and cool pattern painted parking lines in their lot. Inside, you smell an interesting fragrant inside. We were instantly greeted by the hostess and she seated us immediately. The bar is fully stocked with hundreds of different wines, and the place has a new hip vibe going for it. The chalk board had a cool cork border around it, and the seating was fairly comfortable. Indie-rock esque music is playing and candles were lit at each table. The menu itself is very basic, with large print on a single thick weight paper. Our waiter was very accommodating to our level of browsing the menu. We ordered the sweet potato fries as a starter. The wine/alcohol menu was very large. Just about anything you can think of is probably listed there. The fries that came out to our table looked great, and we had a few choices of dipping sauce to go with it. I recommend the honey mustard to go with it. After I would say 15 minutes our main courses arrived. I ordered the fajitas, which came with both the beef and chicken options and she ordered the Grilled Chicken and Veggie Pasta. My meal came with an interesting amount of options to build my fajitas. My plate was a hot plate with all the grilled onions and veggies sizzling, and the meats cut on both the left and right side. It was very, very good. Portions are more than plenty to which you could probably share it with another person. This place is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for in the end. Service was prompt and quick, and the food is freshly prepared. I recommend this joint if you want a full fledged experience. read more

It's been a mite-bit of a cultural shock: a legitimate wine bar in Wichita with a selection of cocktails, concoctions and beer expansive and unique enough to rival some of those pretentious Kansas City joints? Mike's has it. And if you're a lady (or gentleman) who happens to be a bit of a lush, the house sangria is highly addictive. You'll be blushing and giggling after just one of these perfectly sweet, only ever-so-slightly boozy, drinks. But if you're more of a burly beer guy (or are a lady looking to impress that cute guy with the bolo), the craft selection isn't too shabby either. Mike's food is pretty good, but don't expect anything super extraordinary (though that Kobe burger is supposed to be something fantastic). The deviled eggs are nice, with a touch of balsamic and a creamy smooth yolk, these seem like the perfect brunch dish. The restaurant I visited was Wine Dive, and let me tell you, it was very delightful! Although I am fairly new to visiting this restaurant, every time I go it is a marvelous experience! Their food is always fresh, the staff is always fabulous, and above all, the vibe you get from the building is so positive, and I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. The building itself is such a fun place and you definitely can just feel all of the positivity within the walls. Going to Wine Dive was a spectacular experience and I will be going again soon! Now let's get into my review! Wine Dive didn't have any decor but one thing they did have was a big variety of food. While I was there I ordered 3 things, Coconut Shrimp, a Cuban Sandwich, and a Fattoush Salad. My dad and I both got a glass of iced water. The first thing I tried was the Coconut Shrimp, served with orange marmalade, and mango dipping sauce. This appetizer costs about $12. This dish contains five Jumbo Key West shrimp, coated in a coconut batter then golden-fried. I would describe this dish as flavorful yet very refreshing! When they describe it as "golden fried" they really mean it! The shrimp was crispy to the touch and went fantastically with the sweet and tangy orange marmalade sauce. I loved the shrimp because it didn't have that super fishy taste to it. The sauce by itself was a little sweet but put together with the shrimp it was fantastic. Overall, this dish was fresh and flavorful! The "main dish" I had while there was the Cuban sandwich which cost about $11. How they describe this sandwich is a "Slow-braised pork shoulder, pit ham, dill pickles, Swiss cheese, and Dijon aioli on a pressed local hoagie roll." This was my first time trying a Cuban sandwich, but after trying this one I don't know if I need to try any other ones! This sandwich was an excellent combo to the side salad I ordered! The pork had a delightful smokey taste to it and the ham was perfectly crispy. The only thing that would have made it better was more pickles. My Cuban came with three slices of pickles and I would have liked a couple more. Otherwise, it was delightful! The last thing I ordered was the Fattoush salad as a side this item costs $2. This salad was a delightful addition to my Cuban sandwich. They accompanied each other very well! The greens within the salad were very fresh. The baked Naan bread as croutons went so well with the feta cheese and the tomatoes, and the lemon garlic vinaigrette tied it all together so well! The croutons were crisp and had a fantastic crunch when you bit into them. The only thing that would have made eating this dish even better would have been a bigger plate. When mixing the salad around, components of the salad were falling off of my plate because the plate was too small. I love that they give you a hefty salad, but a bigger plate was definitely needed. To wrap up my point, this salad tasted very fresh and was overall very palatable! The cleanliness of the restaurant was a 9/10. Everything was neat and clean. The only reason I wouldn't rate it a 10/10 is that the floor looked like it could have been swept again, but besides that, the restaurant was very clean! This restaurant is astounding! The food is fresh, the staff is kind and attentive, and the overall vibe of the restaurant is so positive. 9/10 must recommend. I enjoyed my visit and will be back again soon! Went there today for my husband birthday brunch, and everything on the menu sounded like fresh cook meals... so I order the chicken and waffles. I love FRIED CHICKEN and a BASIC waffle. While I waiting for the food I see one of the cooks walk across from me with bags of waffles! The food came and the waffles were MICROWAVE! And my fried chicken was a chicken breast. I'm turned off by this point. How can you be sooo cheap when it comes to getting a basic waffle maker? Or even making some fried chicken? Then they drown syrup on my waffle and my chicken .. What a gem! Went to another place that had a long wait so decided to backtrack to this spot we had passed on the way. Fortuitous! Started with mimosas ( grapefruit for me, pomegranate for Mere). Good drinks, the ratio of bubbly to juice was perfect. I ordered the duck hash and I have to say it was easily one of the two best duck dishes I've ever had in my life. The potatoes were crispy, the onions were nice and sweet and the eggs were perfectly scrambled. The duck was a whole leg quarter that had been marinated for 10 hours, roasted a bit and the served atop the hash and eggs. I ate every bite! Mere went with their version of a Monte Cristo and substituted a fruit cup for potatoes. The fruit was a nice fresh mix of grapes, strawberries and blackberries (which you rarely see, right?). The sandwich itself; very good, overstuffed and delicious. Would have like some raspberry jam on the side, but all in all a great rendition of a classic and favorite dish. I'm a pretty big fan of Mike's - first because it's in my neighborhood and owned by local folks, and of course because the food and drink are delicious. Mike's is definitely a "date night" kind of place (I can't tell you how many first dates I've been on here) - it's dark and romantic. But it's also great for a "girl's night" or group of co-workers/friends, and I've even sat at the bar solo a few times -- which is placed way too high to be comfortable, by the way, but it's manageable. So pretty much any occasion except for a family night -- never seen kiddos in there, and I like that. On weekends you'll find live music which is a really nice touch. Their menu is pretty interesting, some of the more unique dishes are "deviled eggs" as an appetizer, "wild boar ragu" for an entree, and "do it yourself s'mores" for dessert. They used to have plantain chips for a side item - I don't see it on the menu anymore but am excited to see "truffled sweet potato fries" instead. I gravitate toward the vegetarian enchiladas (imagine that) which is served with Spanish rice, pico de gallo and avocado slices. Large chunks of veggies inside corn tortillas and some sort of sauce that's making my mouth water right now. I've been a little disappointed in the pinot noir by the glass selection - and I wonder if they ever get new wines in or change the wine menu? The menu on our table last night was tattered and ripped so I'm assuming it's an original.
