What a wonderful experience this was. Our artist, Lee, was so knowledgeable and readily available to give compliments and gave advice in regards to painting techniques. The session felt a little more intimate and one-on-one since it was only my sister and I. Although we took longer than the time allowed, we were able to finish the charcuterie board with no rush. Lee said not to worry about the resin, since we ran out of time. Lee finished the resin for us and the boards were ready to be picked up after 2 days. Plenty of parking since the establishment is within a shopping center. The only detail is the shop is upstairs of the shopping center. read more

Third time here and had a great time! I came twice recently and painted a Boo tote bag and Boo Charcuterie Board, both led by our instructor Lee. Was very patient with us and friendly! My sister and I were the only ones for the Charcuterie board so it felt like a private party just for us as we were hosted in a smaller room away from a kids birthday party they were having. Overall, such a great time. Board came out great and the vibes were amazing. I love how they have a variety of different options other than painting canvases. They offer Charcuterie boards, wine glasses, knit a blanket, coasters, ornaments etc. Definetly returning to create some more amazing pieces. They are opening another location in Matthews. Thoroughly enjoyed myself with my niece, her boyfriend , and my sons girlfriend. This class was paint your dog. We had to send in a picture of choice in via email 2 weeks before class so they could prep the canvas. Thank goodness we didn't have to start from scratch. That would have been a disaster. Started with the background. Spent about 45 min to 1 hour on that. Then comes the eyes followed by the nose. Boy that was hard. But no worries. When the paint dries the artist assisting the class can fix anything! Onto the fur starting from the inside out. It really started to take shape. We were all happy. The artists kept saying "lights and shadows". It got to be funny but I tell you....when you understand what that means it will make a difference. The cost of the class was $60 but well worth it. I would do it again. We had a lot of fun. Oh I almost forgot... you can bring your own beverage. We stopped at the store before hand. There is a Harris Teeter you can walk to. read more

I attended this class on Friday, May 12th, at 7pm. I'm not a professional artist, but just like going to restaurants, I've been to several wine and paint classes and have expectations. The other times I've done this were in small towns on the west coast. At ther other classes, there were several instructors (4 or more) to make sure you are comprehending the directions, ensuring you have everything you need such as refills of water cups, more paint, or wine, and even making sure the primary instructor doesn't skip over anything or be vague on instruction. Another thing is that these classes provided some wine in every other case. At this class, it was small and only had 1 instructor. The instructor poorly explained each step. The instructor actually would alter your painting without asking. There was no wine. I was there with my older christian mom, and there were constant stupid penis size allusion jokes about brushes. The brushes were worn and blown out, disallowing any precision. Without correct attention, the final products turned out far poorer than past experiences at other businesses. We were disuaded from dipping our brushes very much because changing our water cups would be too much effort. Again, there is no included wine. Why is it like this? I understand 8 people in the class is only $320, so how can you get bigger classes? This was not fun at all, and I had to resist saying anything critical so I wouldn't ruin it further for the other patrons or my mom. Maybe the venue is too much money? Maybe the corporate structure or owner takes too much profit? I don't know. I do know that it was rushed, inadequatly staffed, there was no wine, and due to poor instruction, my painting is fireplace fuel only, not even "I like it because it's fun". You need to analyze your business model. read more

What a FABULOUS time! I was so excited to find this cool place. They had TONS of classes and options which made it hard to choose just one day! I booked a class with several friends and enjoyed a night of music, laughter, painting and of course WINE! We brought some snacks too, which made it even better. The artist was very fun and easy going. She allowed us to feel our own creative juices but helped us when we needed it. The offer private classes too that aren't restricted to the painting selected for the night. I'm certainly going back with a group of 8 so I can pain the pig I am dying to have. Then Manager was present and very helpful with checking and registration. The view outside the space is also inspiring. The parking is plentiful. I highly recommend this to EVERYONE. read more

This was the 2nd place in Charlotte I went to for a paint class. And it was super hard for me to not compare it to my previous experience. The class here is still pretty awesome. I mean it is painting and it is fun time. However, our instructor, Eric, was dry. He was all business, so serious. It was hard to just have fun. I don't consider myself an artist or artistic to say the least but I have been doing these painting classes since I was living in Las Vegas - and he goes super fast. It was hard to keep up at times. The class felt a little cramped too. There was minimal room from aisle to aisle and especially to the person next to you. They had me set up in a corner of the room too. It was pretty awkward. I had to twist to see the instructor and it was just uncomfortable. Looking around, it seemed more people were definitely having more than me and my friends. I guess we just really liked our other instructor. And it was damned hot in the room. We did bring our own wine and snacks, but no clue if there was an area to put it at because it was so cramped in their setting - I didn't want to walk around and look. Good experience - but overall I wouldn't return. I rather go elsewhere. read more

The sister/brother team do a awesome job making my Toasted Marshmellow brain freeze with extra Marshmallow, extra shot of espresso and heavy cream, no whip. They are super friendly and make you feel at home, which I might add is another reason I go there. Comfortable, and mostly quiet with all types of art to explore and buy. I had a great time! I have never attended a "paint party" before and after looking at the art online, I chose a date that had a piece of art that matched my personality. The instructor was very thorough, gave easy to understand instructions, and checked the art often and gave great feedback and helped fix "problems" that arose. I will definitely visit again because I had a great, relaxing time! Just to note: this location does not appear to be accessible. I wanted to do something special for my sister's birthday so I set up the private class they offer at my home. It was absolutely incredible. First, the artists (Sarah) who arrived on time was amazing. She was compassionate about our concerns and had no issues wearing an N95 masks. She was highly skilled and great at instruction. She was so much fun, incredibly patient and very helpful to all of us! She was professional and a joy to be around! She helped all of us individually as none of us have any natural artistic abilities but all of our paintings turned out great! Her happy and encouraging disposition added to the experience. I bought a ticket for Dec 17 several weeks in advance when planning a day out with some girlfriends. The day of I realized I would have to bring my 8 year old son along. I called that morning to make sure it would be ok! They said they could accommodate him, I just needed to purchase his ticket. When we got there, they had a blank canvas for him with paints for him to explore! The painting for the group was not really kid-friendly! Lol! Then there is the wine I do believe that if you're drinking wine then you should not be obnoxious, loud, rude. Some of these paintings are really neat! I went to Wine & Design last night for the painting of the Charlotte direction signs. Its a very casual atmosphere, you can BYOB and snacks. They bring you all of the paint, brushes and rinse cups that you need. All you need to do is put on your apron, pour a glass of wine and have a seat! I thought this was a neat set up, although sometimes it can be hard to watch the instructor as she paints depending on where you are seated. The painting that we did was pretty straight forward, you could do all the shading in the world or none at all and it still looked pretty good when finished. You have about 2 hours to paint, and I noticed that a lot of the students weren't done by the end of class. They tell you that you can stay for as long as you need to, but clean up everything around you. My brushes and paint were gone before I knew it. I was really glad that we got there early, so that we didn't have any trouble sitting together, the room fills up pretty quickly. The most important thing to remember is just to go with it. This is time to relax, kick back and paint your style painting. Enjoy yourself! read more

I am shocked that someone has not written a review on this fantastic business yet! My Mother was in town visiting and I wanted to make sure that we did things "outside the box" and Wine and Design seemed like the perfect night out. We participated in their "Paint your Pet" night and it was a wonderful experience. At each class you are welcome to bring your own wine and the studio provides you with everything you need to open, pour and drink while you paint. Paint your Pet is run a little differently than some of their other classes, in this class you send in a photo that you would like to paint and it is screen printed on your canvas before you arrive. The Instructor moves around the class with more individual direction since each photo and pet is different. At first glance, the task of painting my image seemed overwhelming, but the more the wine flowed and the instructors encouraged me the paint seemed to flow right off my brush in artistic ways I never knew existed. My Mother and I were thrilled with the results and even more with the experience. The owners are sweet and have a visible presence in their business, which makes me want to support them even more. My friends and I came in to town from the Chapel Hill area for a bachelorette party. We organized a private party at Wine and Design to go from 5-7 pm before we went out to dinner....and then I-85 was a parking lot, and we got in to town at 4:45. The bachelorette, who didn't know where we were going since it was a surprise, was late to meet us at the hotel. We called Wine and Design in advance to let them know we were running behind, I said 15 minutes. In the end we were like, an insane 45 minutes late. Heather at Wine and Design was as cool as a cucumber. She had a party scheduled after us at 8, but knew just how to time the pacing of walking us through our paintings so that we still finished (relatively) on time. She was just the perfect mix of encouraging us to move along and allowing for us to chit chat and socialize. She handled our timing snafu with the most amazing amount of grace and calm; we could not have asked for a better start to the evening. Not to mention the wonderful experience we had painting- help when we needed it, great encouragement, in a beautiful studio with great windows and lighting. We all left with a great piece of art. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wine and Design Charlotte again to ANYONE planning a private party - you will not be disappointed. read more

This was an ok event. Not really what I expected. Thought it would be more upscale for date night but it seemed real casual. Nobody was really dressed up. Wine was serve in a plastic cup as oppose to a wine glass. People were showing up late which was expected for Charlotte traffic on a Friday night. When my wife and I arrived they were still checking people in. Two separate rooms. One for couples and one for singles. When you arrive you have to place your wine on the table, put on an apron and find a seat. I hated the hard stools. The painting was fun and not fun. Fun for me and my wife but the atmosphere was so dry. Only one other couple were talking. Everybody was really focused on the painting which I thought was more just having fun than actually trying. You can help yourself to your bottle of wine any time you want. The instructor was nice. I am not a painter. I was just trying to do something fun and different with the wife. This was my first and last time. It wasn't fun to me. It was slow and almost boring. The music wasn't good. Nobody seemed to really have fun, it seemed like an actual painting lesson. read more

I like Wine and Design for their unique painting offerings that just look like fun. This was actually my second time at Wine and Design, both times with Frank teaching, and both times painting something Charlotte related. This BYOB painting is a little different then my normal place Cajun Canvas. One of the big differences is just teaching styles. Frank has the ability to paint something very quickly, and if you're taking your time you can get lost pretty quickly. I've learned that when he is painting just to stop and watch. He will probably only being demonstrating 3 minutes at a time, and a lot of the time people are concerned with what their doing and do not look up at him. His teaching style is just to paint, piece by piece, and then walk around after each piece to help people. At Cajun the classes are 2.5 hours of instruction, and at Wine and Design it is 2 hours of instruction. I say this because both times at the end of 2 hours, most people aren't finished, but Frank is very nice and allows people to stay as long as they need. One thing I'm not too fond of is that everyone is on a stool. I would prefer the option of a chair, I just think they are more comfortable and I like the angle of painting on the canvas better in a chair, if I need to stand up I will. At the end of the class everyone takes a picture which is sent to your email and posted on their Facebook page, a nice keepsake option. If you are a beginner, taking this class for fun, and not very artistic, please choose a simple painting, and just have fun with it! read more

The owners did not address the woman's rude behavior for the full 2 hours of the class!!! AWESOME! I had never painted a canvas in my entire life and mine actually turned out pretty well. Teacher struck a really nice balance between teaching and letting people be creative. Very positive and upbeat person. Great atmosphere and relaxed setting. Made me interested in painting more. Would do again in a heartbeat. Everything could not have been easier or more fun. The studio is bigger than we thought and even though the "class" was full there was plenty of room. Being a full class made for a better more fun experience. There is no bar, nor food, so we brought a couple of bottles of wine and some snacks. There is room for your drinks and food. But be careful not to get paint into your wine! The owner hosts and does a great job, you will feel welcome.
