I booked a private 2 hour session for 2 as a birthday gift. I was a bit nervous that my piece would be a disaster, however my instructor Jamie was so awesome, patient, kind and great at working with beginners. He was extremely informative and encouraging. I'd definitely recommend The Little Studio to others.

We had a birthday party for my 10yr old daughter at The little studio. Most awesome fun time! The kids all had so much fun, and Arie (hope I spelled it right) was so engaging and amazing with the kiddos! The studio itself is very cozy! I highly recommend this place for birthday parties, won't disappoint! Also, I have to mention how super nice, accommodating, and attentive James has been. Awesome vibes all around! They have definitely made a returning patron out of us!

During a long weekend trip to Charlotte, NC five lady friends and I gathered at The Little Studio at Queen City Growlers for an instructional class on making hand molded ceramic hanging planters. How cool, right? Our class was on a Saturday morning at eleven and went seamlessly! James, the founder, was our instructor and he did a great job of waking us through the process and encouraging our creative ideas. He was so educated in the art of ceramics it was really interesting to hear his story and all about how he got into the business. At first, he showed us each step in the process and answered all of our questions. Our group of ladies was rather curious as we were all type A perfectionists and wanted to make sure we did our very best! Afterwards, we each got a slab of clay and all the tools we needed to make a cool hanging planter. The six of us had a blast at trying different techniques, applying cool textures, and ultimately creating beautiful works of art. Once we were finished we each stamped our initials and selected a gaze for our planter. I went with white but they had cream, black, green, and even a speckled grey option. All were really pretty colors. I am so excited to see what the finished product will look like. Once our planters are fired and completed my friend is going to ship mine to me and I can't wait to hang it up! I highly recommended attending a workshop or signing up for a private lesson. While we did a hand-molded class, they also offer ceramic wheel classes and events fun events for kids. I highly suggest grabbing some friends and making a day out of it!

My husband and I took a private class for our 9 year anniversary. We had a great time and can't wait to get our finished pieces back!

The session felt a little more intimate and one-on-one since it was only my sister and I. Although we took longer than the time allowed, we were able to finish the charcuterie board with no rush. Lee said not to worry about the resin, since we ran out of time. Lee finished the resin for us and the boards were ready to be picked up after 2 days. Plenty of parking since the establishment is within a shopping center. The only detail is the shop is upstairs of the shopping center.

My sister and I were the only ones for the Charcuterie board so it felt like a private party just for us as we were hosted in a smaller room away from a kids birthday party they were having. Overall, such a great time. Board came out great and the vibes were amazing. I love how they have a variety of different options other than painting canvases. They offer Charcuterie boards, wine glasses, knit a blanket, coasters, ornaments etc. Definetly returning to create some more amazing pieces. They are opening another location in Matthews. This is off East Blvd in a shopping center. They have plenty of parking.

The artists are set up mostly in stalls that they rent from the Art League. The pieces range from all sorts of different mediums: Resin, canvas, sculptures, photographs, etc. I've walked through several stalls and while most of the artists set up and go about their day-jobs, you'll occasionally find an artist using their stall as a studio and working on whatever project they're focused on at the time. Everyone I've talked to here has been friendly and inviting. This isn't your stereotypical "snobby" art place. These people are down to earth and eager to see you. Prices range from the super affordable to the super expensive, with a happy medium in every price range in between. One stall I saw had 24x36" resin piece on canvas that was going for $700!! Way out of my price range but I'm sure someone will see it and decide that they aren't leaving without it. If you find something you like, you can take it up front where the cashier will run your purchase on behalf of the artist. Keep in mind that mostly everything is for sale, but some pieces are works in progress or display only. Everything I've seen in here is labeled properly to avoid any confusion. It's a community cornerstone that hosts events, supports charities, and spotlights some of the most prominent artists in the QC. What's not to like?
