Living on the Windward side but being a part of Kapiolani Medical Center we had a difficult time finding a Pediatrician that could visit us in the hospital after delivery. We still interviewed with many of the other Pediatricians in Kailua but once we met Dr. Yim, we knew immediately he was the one. Not just because he could visit us at KMCWC but because we felt a sincere connection from him. We've been seeing Dr. Yim and his staff since our first child was born in 2018, now with our second kiddo we still love him and his staff! They are all so friendly, professional and I know that if I'm being a worry wart mom about something after hours I can text him for a response. What I also love is that he doesn't pressure you to parent in a way that may not be your style. He provides you the tools and resources that helps in your child's growth, as his number 1 priority. My only small but more of a "first world" problem, okay "hawaii living" problem haha is that parking can sometimes be really tight. Dr. Gregg is ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! His practice is the oldest pediatric practice on the windward side of the island and he specializes in neurological disorders. Because of this he is in high demand with multiple passes at diff hospitals and lots of knowledge!! Office doesn't have the easiest parking but the office itself is so nice and clean. There is lots of toys in the waiting room to keep the kids occupied especially when he is running behind. The office visits are usually very efficient and the flow and communication between the assistant and the doctor is effortless. After your child's visit, you will have a sit down consult in his office and he is not shy to pass out his personal number. He is available by text anytime of the day and when your child has a problem he checks on your family constantly! You can tell he truly cares!!! I would def recommend this practice to anyone looking for a knowledgeable compassionate provider! read more

This MD is great...IF YOU DONT MIND YOUR MD BEING OUT OF TOWN EVERY MONTH!! The staff is no help if you would like to have a prescription refilled etc. they dismiss it as Doc is out of town and we can't help in anyway, even if this affects childs day to day functions. Shameful in holding a medical license for pediatrics, more shameful in a parent willing to work with the MDs time off but getting rejected, regardless of circumstances bc they have to be seen by prescribing MD. Do the community a favor, please retire!!! read more

Dr. Yim is awesome! I am so happy we chose him as our daughters pediatrician. The day I gave birth, he was in Maui. He flew in that evening and was able to stop by the hospital to check on my daughter (a little past 8pm). Before that though, he had his partner, Dr. Kathleen Morimoto, check on us while he was in Maui. Dr. Yim takes us in as same-day appointments when needed. He takes his time and explains everything that he's doing and why as he assesses the child. He is very attentive and very personable. His staff is great, too. If I had to knock a star off, it would be for parking. Parking can get really tight sometimes. However, Dr. Yim gave us the option to park nearby at his brothers parking lot (he's a dentist whose location is just a few yards away). Frustration with the parking area has only happened to me once--not enough times for me to knock a star off! read more

You would be hard pressed to find a better pediatrician than Dr. Greg Yim- our children's pediatrician since 2009. As a pediatrician, with an area of specialty in pediatric neurology (there are only two physicians on the island possessing this distinct speciality) Dr. Yim is an exceptional physician ; Knowledgeable, sincere, caring, empathetic, thorough, and incredibly positive and supportive (whether you're a new parent / patient / veteran parent) are just a handful of the attributes to describe him. Whether my children are ill or in need of a simple check up, I know my children are receiving the best care, and I actually look forward to seeing him, as a parent, as his bedside manner is incomparable to any doctor I have experienced. Be aware - parking can be tight at times; additionally, staff is helpful and friendly. The nurses, whom Are wonderful (kind and caring with the children/patients as well as astute in their duties) have been there for as many years as we've been seeing Dr. Yim. read more

My son's pediatrician and office support staff including NP's, nurses and ladies in the front are amazing. They are always polite, professional, and friendly. They make you feel comfortable and are always reassuring especially for a first time parent. Very easy to work with and very attentive with you when it is your time. Always willing to answer questions. I absolutely love that his doctor is willing to make himself available after hours and on days the clinic is closed. Conveniently located in a nice clean office for my family who lives in rural Windward Oahu. Would recommend you at least see if this practice is the right one for you and your child. I delivered my daughter 10 1/2 weeks early, and she's now in the NICU. Prior to delivering, I was hospitalized for 4 weeks. I had a pediatrician selected for my daughter, but after the events of her birth, my OB recommended Dr. Yim. I SWITCHED MY DAUGHTER'S INSURANCE COVERAGE IN ORDER TO TAKE HER TO DR. YIM. I called this morning to schedule an initial consult with Dr. Yim, and the woman on the phone, "Merley," was so unthinkably rude to me. She kept saying that they "have to have an initial consult before the baby is delivered" and that she'll have to "talk to Dr. Yim to see if we can take you as a patient since you've already delivered." I asked if she could just schedule something based on his calendar since I now have only 2-3 weeks until my baby comes home from the NICU. She said, "No," that she has to talk to Dr. Yim first since I didn't do all of this ahead of time. I reminded her that my daughter was almost 3 months early and this has been a very upsetting experience, and she said VERBATIM, "SO YOU DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF YOUR PREGNANCY TO FIND A PEDIATRICIAN?!" This woman should not be working around babies, families, or new moms. What a disgusting thing to say to a brand new mother who's been through the experience I've endured over the last couple of months. I started crying and called her on her false presumptions, her insensitivity, and her insults, and there was just silence on the other end of the line. I finally said, "Hello? Are you there?" And she hung up on me. I called back several times over the next few minutes, and the phone was not answered. Finally, another woman answered. I told what just happened, and she didn't even apologize! Just said, "Oh, if you give me your name and number, I'll have Dr. Yim call you next week when he gets back from vacation." I asked for Merley's name and said that she owes me an apology. She put me on hold and came back to say that Merley was "with another patient" and couldn't come to the phone. What a joke! It's unfortunate that I'll never get to meet Dr. Yim and comment on his ability as a pediatrician because he has a couple of heartless, rude, and thinkless people working in his front office. read more

I met Dr. Yim 16 years ago when he was a speaker at a conference I went too. It was then I knew I need this man to be my daughters pediatric neurologist! She was two at the time and within a few months Dr. Yim was her neurologist. He has been such a blessing to us ever since. At the age of four my daughter began epilepsy (due to a pediatric stroke), that was difficult to treat and not well managed with pediatric medications. Dr. Yim was diligent, caring and through in treating her. My daughter would have 30 seizures a month. He sent us to the mainland for more testing and began her on a new treatment that finally worked on her complicated seizure disorder. She is now 18 years old and has been seizure free for 11years! Dr. Yim saved her life on so many occasions in the ER, he didn't give up in finding the right treatment for her. Because of him and the wondrous grace of God, my daughter is a thriving young lady looking forward to college! I thank Dr. Yim and is amazing receptionist Mel for making us family, making a big positive difference in our lives...and for giving me hope, and giving my daughter a full life. My family recently moved to the island and Windward Pediatrics was our PCP, as we live in Kaneohe. I received my daughter's medical cards over the weekend just as my oldest daughter comes down with a very painful sore throat and fever. I call Windward Pediatrics on Monday morning 8AM to schedule her an appointment, as she is in a lot of pain. The receptionist informs me that since we have not done a new patient intake appointment they won't see her, even though she is sick. I ask to speak to the office manager to see if they'll make an exception. I'm informed she doesn't come to the office very much. I then ask to leave a voice mail for the doctor, but he doesn't take voice mail only a message from the receptionist. I reluctantly leave my information not expecting to get a call back. To my surprise, I get a voice mail in the afternoon from the receptionist, that she spoke with the doctor and he will not make an exception and to go see another pediatrician and then come back for the new patient intake appointment. No thanks! I'll go to a pediatrician that will see both sick and well patients, not just well patients. I feel it was extremely immoral to turn away a sick patient when you are their PCP. read more

Before I moved back home from Nevada in 2013, I did some research on pediatricians for our then one year old. I chose Windward Pediatrics for their good reviews and nearby location. Since then we have moved to Makakilo and had a second child. The absolute best! Dr Yim and the staff at windward pediatrics are all amazing! The waiting room and patient rooms are clean and safe for children of all ages. The office staff and nurses are always so friendly and helpful and Dr Yim makes you feel like one of the family.
