Parking is unfortunately paid/metered everywhere, even in the lot designated for this building. They really need to have a few spots for Reis Pediatrics only, I've never had to pay to park at any drs office before, so that shocked me! The lot is shared with many businesses (cinnamons, Manoa, etc) so if you see those businesses you are in the right place. Enter the building on the side that is facing the parking lot and go to the doors on the left side and up to floor 5. Waiting room is fine but quite small and I wish they had a 'sick' waiting room vs healthy/routine check up area or something. It's hard to keep kids from wanting to explore the room but I'm anxious about sick germs in such a small waiting space. They texted me that I could come 30 mins early if available, so I did and got in right away. I walked out and finished before my actual appointment time even started so that was great! My provider was wonderful, not rushed, and great rapport with kiddo. This was an appt to establish care and do a routine toddler check up. It was very clear our provider read our prior charts from where we transferred and was very in tune with even the smallest details about my kiddos prior care. I wished I could have at least met our primary care Dr, if even briefly during our initial visit to make sure it's a good fit. But the NP we met with was great and we feel good about continuing care. The building is outdated and parking was a bummer but the care seems like good quality and we're excited about continuing care here. read more

This is a fantastic pediatric practice! They work with parents & other care providers for the child's best interest! The best part is they know the limits of their competency and will readily refer to specialist for a more definitive professional opinion. They are quick to respond even after hours and on their app! The office is made for kids! My child loved going to see them. Office staff was always sweet and friendly and professional. Nice people, but I will never return. My daughter was vaccine injured here after a Nurse Practitioner suggested I allow my 18 month old daughter a to have a second MMR before traveling (normally given at 4). When my daughter later had 2 neurological episodes and I mentioned it was a possible link (even if at the time I couldn't believe a vaccine could do this to a child), she just looked at me and said nothing at all. I felt so powerless, but I instinctually felt something was wrong. I did not know that the 2nd mmr is unnecessary for 95-98% of children as most get enough antibodies from the first (though a vaccinated child can still get and spread measles), and that New Jersey requires that pediatricians by law inform parents that they have the right to a blood test to check titers (It is called Holly's Law in honor of 5 year old Holly Stavola who died of vaccine-induced encephalitis from the mmr www.hopefromholly.com ). I had a degree in Biology and was a High School science teacher, and yet I had never studied the history and the side effects and the adjuvants and ingredients in vaccines, partly because this information was hard to find. I trusted those at this office, and felt that no one cared like they did as I had no family nearby to check on me (I did appreciate how much they fussed over her and will always cherish them adoring her, but I wish I had had a reliable source of data and information), but looking back later, the Reis pediatric handout before a shot state that infectious diseases are no longer a problem "thanks to vaccines" with no reference to other factors that have changed since infectious diseases were an issue. Why did 85-90% of infectious disease mortality decrease before vaccines ( www.dissolvingillusions.com )? Why were there 5 doses on the schedule in the sixties and 180 today. What happened to Scarlet Fever, Tuberculosis, Typhoid Fever, Typhus, Dysentery, and Cholera... If you want to be informed, you will not find open transparency or education at this office. The website they gave me to learn about vaccines (after I emailed about my daughter's injury and insisted) was run by Paul Offit who once said that a baby could receive 10,000 shots in one day. I did not find clear data on the site. I also did not realize that anemia is a side effect of vaccines and was constantly confused at why my daughter had this and fretted for a whole year, and no one, not Dr. Reis, Dr. Lynch or the N.P. informed me this could be a side effect of shots. Thankfully, my daughter is now 5, apparently healed, and we have chosen a different path toward healthcare. This office needs to do a better job on informing parents about possible reactions (not downplaying them but just giving the list), ingredients of the shot, and a more extensive list of books and websites to go to to find more information. read more

Pros: They are intact friendly if you have decided not to circumcise your son- meaning they dont try to retract or mess with your son's penis with diaper checks. They are swift and usually kind when giving vaccines. Wait time wasn't more than 15 minutes when we had an appointment. Clean office and waiting room. Cons: Each appointment they asked questions that we said could be taken out of the notes, or were irrelevant. Started to annoy my husband that they would ask questions we had discussed the previous visit. They adhere very closely to their vaccine schedule, if you want variation or delay this is not the office for you and your child. They push the Flu vaccine and fluoride drops for babies HARD, so if that is something you don't want be prepared to mention it every appointment. I thought they could have been more sensitive with the Post partum depression form they have you fill out first few times with your newborn visits. Reception sort of throw it at you with a dry erase marker- I'm not sure if someone with PPD would feel comfortable offering truthful information when it was delivered like that- Funny story when my son turned 1 one of the physicians said "ok well now you can wrap up breastfeeding hes old enough to wean. There isn't much else nutritionally for him with that, now that he's eating food too.You can give him whole cows milk instead." So I asked "So I should stop breastfeeding and give him another animals milk that has fortified vitamins and no probiotics and has been pasteurized?" She didnt know what to say . I boob fed him before naps until he was 21 months old and he was fine. We transferred pedis as we wanted a delayed schedule for our son after 1 years old. read more

We've been going to Reis Pediatrics since the birth of our first child. We now have three young children, all under 4 years old. The first couple years were pretty great. Office is very clean and comfortable and totally kid-friendly. We love the assistant staff. All the girls are caring, attentive, informative, and kind. We've only seen Dr. Reis a couple of times, we usually see Jeanette, the nurse practitioner. She has always been pretty condescending to us, makes us feel like our opinions, beliefs and questions as parents don't matter or aren't reasonable. I've left our well visits feeling very uncomfortable many times. We began seeing others on their roster, Dr. Ward and Ellen (and we loved both of them). Our immunization experiences have been horrible the last couple years. With our first child, the same nurse did all of his shots. She was always quick, easy, no fuss. Minimal crying, in and out, our son sat on our lap during the shots. The last couple years have been a different story with our other two children. They have been training other nurses to administer the shots. I was asked to put my 4 month old on the table while two ladies held her down screaming and crying, I was asked to wait by the door. (This was a first for me.) One of the nurses was trying to teach and explain to the other how to give the immunization, which took way too long, while my 4 month old was screaming and kicking and being held down. The time before that, my other 18 month old daughter was in a similar training experience, and we believe her shot was administered incorrectly because her thigh turned into a rock, her entire thigh was swollen and hard and hot for months. Literally months. I can still see a slight bruise in the sunlight today. We went and got two other doctor's opinions on what happened. She didn't have any other symptoms of allergic type reactions to the shot...both of those other doctors said this was because it was administered in not the most ideal spot and hit a wrong part of her muscle. We are now changing pediatricians and are so relieved to be doing so. Initially, we really liked Reis Pediatrics overall. It has since gone downhill and I've left every time recently feeling angry, defensive of my children, and extremely disappointed. read more

One of the worst doctors I have ever met. misdiagnosed my kid so badly I knew she was wrong. Our new doctor even thought the diagnosis was crazy. Didn't listen at all to my concerns. Ordered a blood test that required way to much blood from my 1 year old that the phlebotomist from the children's hospital said that's way to much! She clearly has no idea what she is doing and could cause some real harm one day. read more

My children have been going to Reis Pediatrics after the practice was referred to us by a friend when we moved here from the mainland. I have tried to be patient with this office, but today pushed me over the edge. Some issues I've had in the past have been- 1. I've called in to make an appointment for my child, and was told by the receptionist that I "don't really need to come in for a cough", instead I just need to just "check the Reis website and see if the list of symptoms warrant an appointment". Hmmm, I'm supposed to trust a receptionist (a person without a medical degree) to tell me what's best for my child?? How is a receptionist even authorized to make a suggestion of whether or not my child should or should not been seen??? 2. Wait times are ridiculous. I feel each patient deserves appropriate time with the physician, NP, or PA to have the parent's concerns and questions addressed and answered. I think they overbook the amount of patients they see in a day, thus creating EXTREMELY long wait times. You arrive, you wait sometimes three parents deep just to check your child in for their appointment, then you wait in the usually crowded waiting room (I've waited almost an hour before), you get called back, you wait to see the practitioner after explaining to triage nurse what your issue for the day is, just to explain it again to the practitioner when she finally makes it into the exam room. The excessive waiting causes anxiety in both the parent (nap times are cut into, feeding schedules thrown off, kids start getting impatient, babies start screaming) and the child!! 3. There is no privacy at the scale for infants where you are required to strip them naked to be weighed. I know they're babies, but I'm sure I can not be the only parent uncomfortable with that. There should be a private area or separate room for weighing and taking vitals for babies and children. 4. The parking situation is downright frustrating. You better allow an extra 15 minutes just to find a parking spot in order to make it to your appointment on time. 5. There is no separate area for sick patients to wait in to be seen. Your healthy child is waiting right along next to the child with the 103 degree fever, strep throat or the kid with the green snot oozing out of his/her nose while sneezing and coughing on all the waiting room toys and books that the other children are playing with. 6.The office itself is in need of a deep cleaning-the walls are dirty everywhere even in the exam rooms and the vents need to be freed from the tight grip of the thick dust bunnies clinging to them. Being in an office that makes me feel like my kids will get sick just by being there, makes me uncomfortable. 7. The billing department "mixed up" my child's record with another child's (it was "mixed up" for a year and a half!) and it took several weeks to rectify the issue, and I'm still not 100% confident that I didn't wind up paying for this other child's care in some way. Today I fought traffic, fought for a parking space, unloaded the baby-the stroller, the diaper bag, fed the parking meter, went to the office, waited to sign in, had been waiting thirty minutes for my healthy child to be called back, a kid came into the waiting room puking his guts out into a grocery bag-I decided that I have had ENOUGH and told the receptionist we waited too long and that we were leaving! With all this being said, Dr. Reis and the NPs are competent at what they do. The office is just in dire need of restructuring!!! I won't be taking my children back to this practice. Although the staff was friendly on the phone they were unhelpful. We just moved to Hawai'i and my daughter needed to get caught up on her vaccinations for school. She was missing only 1 vaccination. Reis said that she would have to be caught up before they accepted her. This is ridiculously stupid! The whole point of me calling was to set up an appointment for the shot, for her to be caught up. Dr. Reis is the best! She has been our son's pediatrician since his birth. She was at the hospital to check on him, and has been keeping tabs on him ever since. We were looking for a doctor who wasn't handing out medication like m&m's... I've seen too many of those and have had horrible experiences with over-medication myself. So this was a big factor in choosing a pediatrician for us. In our interview, she told u s that she tries to shy away from prescribing medications prematurely, and she was true to that. Our son ended up having horrible silent reflux issues that had negative effects on his growth and demeanor. We had no idea what had gone wrong, but she made a fast and accurate diagnosis. She had us try everything we could before resorting to prescriptions, and followed us closely throughout the entire process to get things right. In the end, we ended up with medication, but we had a different baby overnight. I've heard horror stories of other children with reflux and the bad experiences they had with doctors and a myriad of bad medication. Not with doctor Reis. She helped us through it, and now our son is back on track and thriving. If you choose to vaccinate, she also has a modified vaccination schedule that I feel makes it more tolerable for the kids. They don't end up getting more than 2 shots at one time. You end up back in her office more often, but I'd rather have that then a baby suffering the effects of too many vaccinations at once. Dr. Reis is our top pick. Her staff is also very friendly and they've always tried to help us out. I wouldn't choose to bring my son anywhere else. read more

We live in ewa beach and have been to several pediatrician's on this side, but none of them were as nice and caring as Dr. Reis. She is the best pediatrician on the island and I would recommend here to anyone with a young child that they want to know is going to the right doctor. I feel very strongly about spreading out immunazations and many or the other pediatricians want to lump them all into these combo shots. They are having worse and worse effects. I'm not saying not to immunize the babies just don't try to do unnesicary things like chicken pox. Anyways she will work you one issues like this and here bedside talk is very good. We have finally had it. We have had some issues in the past, but this takes the cake. We suspected our daughter had chicken pox and took her in. Dr. Reis saw that there were some lesions in the mouth, and said "Oh, it is hand, foot, and mouth disease because chicken pox does not grow in the mouth." She put the chicken pox testing kit away and checked our daughter's hands and feet. There was a red spot on one hand (not a lesion) and nothing on her feet. She also said that our daughter would probably have a sore throat and not want to eat. 3 days later my wife called and said there is still no hand, foot, mouth symptoms. The nurse said, "It must be a different expression of the virus." 2 days later, as our daughter is suffering, having a secondary rash and more lesions, we take her back. Reis sees her and says, "Oh, it's chicken pox- I had a feeling." The day after getting the ointment our daughter was relieved of her discomfort. Bad enough? Now they INSIST on charging us for the initial visit." Office manager Tatiana told me, "misdiagnosis happen, but you pay Dr. Reis for seeing your daughter." I told her that I talked to the insurance company and they said it is easy to remove the claim. She said no. Absolutely not. They were not going to remove the claim and were going to get paid for that visit. If it was a rare disease we could understand the misdiagnosis. But chicken pox? Lesions don't occur in the mouth? Google chicken pox lesions in mouth and you will see that it commonly occurs in the mouth. There are humble pediatricians out there. I suggest that you learn from our experience. read more

Dr Reis and Jeanette Leitner (who we prefer) the nurse practitioner are great with my kids and really on top of what's going on with them. Thank you to the nurse practitioner Rachel who spoke with me yesterday on the phone and assessed my daughters arm injury. She also sent us for x-rays. And called us again later in the day with results. She got us in for an appointment this morning with Dr Reis for it to be fit for a splint. And she also set us up with an appointment as soon as Monday with a local orthopedic (and gave recs for others if we needed). All of this may seem typical and expected of your pediatrician except for the fact that were in the middle of a pandemic and things are really weird right now. I was grateful for the quick effective medical service. And the way that they worked around the fact that I had been traveling in the last 14 days. Other practices would have turned us away and told us to go to an emergency room. I know this bc it had already happened. I literally just got off the phone with an orthopedic surgeon who is supposed to take a look at my daughters fractured arm and they told us to go to an emergency room instead. They won't see us even though she has a freaking fractured arm. That's when I realized how lucky we are that Reis Pediatrics made it a point to see us today. Instead of turning us away.. they worked with us and put us in a separate room down the hall with its own entrance, and it seems as though they dawned extra personal protective gear since we had been traveling. read more

Do NOT waste your time looking into Reis Pediatrics. You are better off sending your children to another doctor. I have seen the nurse practitioner more than I've seen the actual doctor. The front office doesn't care if you send your child there or not. They actually encouraged me to send my children to another Doctor. Which I did and my children are under better hands. My children get better care than they did at Reis Pediatrics. My advice to you is IF YOU LOVE YOUR CHILD DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO REIS PEDIATRICS. read more

My children were going to dr Reis for the past 5 years. At first we thought she was a good doctor, but gradually we became less trusting of her and her practice and finally stopped going. She doesn't quite seem to have a grasp on listening to parents and the families that come in. We went in after our son got poked in the eye with a stick. She did the most painful and unnecessary tests (same one 2x) after clearly stating there was nothing they can do there. Then after my son was in tears in a ball on the floor she said he was due for a flu shot. We only went for a referral and felt like we were being punked after we had to go back the following day for the second test that would clearly lead to nothing. We brought another child (2 MO) for a breathing problem and I heard her behind the closed door ask her secretary if she thought he was healthy enough for 2 month vaccinations. Totally turned off, she doesn't listen and is always doing her medical up sells trying to make it seem like your child desperately needs it. Won't go there again, very disappointed. read more
