Jack was very courteous and reassured us countless times that there would be no problem with our window replacement. Replacing all windows and sliding doors are a huge investment and a huge job. Jack came on a Saturday to measure and note all our window sizes and on Monday, we were emailed a quote along with PDF attachments on the different brands of windows, especially single panes and double panes.
We were fortunate to have had our windows changed out right before the summer heatwave and can tell the difference in temperature and the A/C seems to run less than before (hopefully saving some money there!).
Sometimes window frames are harder to get out but the 3rd party window installers did not use towels or any type of cloth to prevent the pry bars from scratching up the paint on the window sills. That was one part of the disappointment that we had. Another one was that when they were prying one of the sliding door frames out, they ripped out a bit of the carpet. Some of the carpet started to unravel in a few areas. They did not mention it to us but we noticed it right away. Once we mentioned it to them, they wouldn't take responsibility and said that the carpet was like that. Wrong, the carpet was not unraveling prior to the frame being taken out. Another was that we had extra individual blinds for our sliding doors, they took them all with them. We didn't even notice that they took them until they had left. We had extras in case the ones we used were broken and could quickly replace them. Also, when they were putting together the handles for the sliding patio doors, they haphazardly put the wrong screws to tighten the handles (bigger screws than necessary) and thus the holes in the plastic handles started to crack. We had to call Jack numerous issues during the whole install day because these were totally unacceptable! We paid for these items to be brand new, not to be damaged or to have our home damaged. Replacing all windows is not a small investment and quite a huge commitment. Jack called David to bring handles to replace but somehow he only arrived with 1 pair, when we needed 2 pairs to be replaced. Had to reconfirm a few times prior to having him come out again to double check a few concerns we had and also to replace the 2nd pair of handles.
David seems to be the guy who oversees and redoes anything that was done incorrectly by the 3rd party installers. He's basically the finisher and the double checker. We ran into a bit of a communication tiff but in the end, we both had an understanding and were trying to work around our times so that the items could all be completed.
We only replaced one window's mini blinds because the sun had done some damage to it but Jack had ordered the wrong style.
Overall, the install wasn't to 100% of our satisfaction and the damaged areas cannot be corrected (unless we get new carpeting). The 3rd party installers were able to help move a bookshelf or so but we had emptied the shelves out for them to move since they were a bit heavy for us. The quality of the windows are great and wished that the installers had more precaution when removing the existing windows and etc. The total price was also really reasonable. We are hesitant to recommend Window Maxx to anyone but since we don't know how other window companies are, we'd still recommend Window Maxx but you would need to keep an eye out on the work being done, while it's being done. read more
