If I could give them ten stars, I would! We had Window Concepts replace our 60 year old aluminum siding. They were the least pushy out of all the sales guys we met, and also gave us the most options and for a reasonable price. You never know what you'll find with old houses, and our house unfortunately had a fair amount of suprises, but their team took care of it extremely well, and fixed years of neglect by both the prior owners. They even fixed shoddy work done by prior contractors. Our house now looks so lovely, and we couldn't be happier with the end result. We've had our share of bad contractors, but Window Concepts was so good we wish they could do all our projects! read more

i will never use Window Concepts again! I have been waiting for two years for exterior shutters to complete my roof and siding project but have only received the run around. During this period, I have called them at least 10 to 15 times and have always been given another excuse. Most of my calls have been to the general superintendent but I have also talked to the owner several times but obviously to no avail. We called for an estimate for 2 doors and 1 window. When the guy came, he said their doors were too expensive for us. Told us to go through a big box store. Why didn't they tell me that on the phone rather than waste my time coming into my house? As for the window, didn't talk me through details with pictures etc, just rattled off options, then offered his card and left, as if we just weren't worth their business. If you buy now, you may get your order by the year 2024. I needed to replace my old patio door since I'm moving to a new state and wanted to make some updates before I left. I ordered a patio door August 2022 and was assured that the installation would happen in November. In December I called and was assured January. In February I was told I could not get my money back and would just have to wait. Someone finally reached out to install the door in late February, then canceled the day of saying his work partner has COVID. Totally understandable but it took three long weeks to finally get this door installed. It's a beautiful door but I will NEVER use this company again. $15,000 in windows and it was left 75% done. We asked for painting, caulking, and finished with trim. They trimmed it... but that's it. Not only that, but there's cracked and gouged trim. Furthermore, they had to come back because they left without the windows locking. Do not trust this company with your home. He made us extremely uncomfortable and by the eleventh time we asked him to leave our home, he became rude and aggressive. This review covers the installation of replacement vinyl windows. It does not cover the actual windows themselves, as I don't have enough experience with them yet. The install crew did an EXCELLENT job; I couldn't be happier with their work. They were all very professional and courteous, showed up at the time they said they would, and were clearly very good at their job. I was very pleased with the way they cleaned up afterwards. We had our siding and windows replaced August 2019 due to storm damage. We chose Window Concepts because our Sales Rep, Brian was very patient with us, I mean really patient with us when we were deciding on windows and siding and all other options from other companies in this business. Window Concepts won our bid because they are family owned and have high integrity and offer a great product for home improvements competitively priced. The siding and windows were installed and is now complete. The attention to detail is what we are most amazed by. From the installation of the siding down to the edging and trim of the electric and water mounting boxes they took time to install with precision. The color is great and Brian, our Sales Rep asked us to trust him on our selection and quality of siding, and we are so glad we did! Brian helped us redesign our windows to a more modern look and the install was done in one day.Our home looks like an entirely different home and it sure is better than moving into a new home. Most of all, the install crew were professional and cleaned up after themselves leaving no trace of new siding or window remnants. They do not leave a message. I have answered and asked them to stop calling and they continue to call. I would be reluctant in using a company that prescribes to such practices. read more

Window Concepts installed three skylights in my family room, on a sloped roof. From the exterior it is clear that they replaced some of the shingles around the window. Just recently I noticed a water-mark on the ceiling and cracked drywall. In bringing this up with the owner, Bob Domeq, I was told a fabricated story that his installer had allegedly told me at the time of installation that my roof was in bad shape. That conversation between me and the installer never occurred. I believe they are using that as a premise to distance themselves from the liability they created. Further, they damaged a tree in the front yard while installing windows behind it. To this day, the owner continues to insist they only broke a branch "no bigger than my finger" (Bob's words). On top of that, they sent out a stereotypical sales person. Brian was very fake, easy to see through and pretended to be my best friend in the world. Interestingly enough, however, when I had questions after I signed the contract, the guy never returned my phone calls. Clearly this firm should be avoided. UPDATE - OCTOBER 30, 2013... Brian Murphy (Window Concepts Owner #2) called me to let me know that he was upset off over my having filed a report with Ripoffreport.com. However, what I found really interesting about the conversation is the following... 1. He tried to get me to agree that "just maybe" the water could be coming in from a different source. When I responded that I have no knowledge of roofs to make such a claim, he accused me of being difficult and too aggressive. 2. He suggested that he's had work done on his house and sometimes things happen that the owner just has to deal with (interestingly enough, the other owner used the same line of reasoning with me). I guess their philosophy is that if we, Window Concepts, damage your trees or your roof or anything else, you as the owner should just deal with it "because we do." 3. He didn't want to offer a resolution, just wanted me to back off since he didn't like my report. And the final thing that I found really interesting about Window Concepts is that Brian raised his voice at me. I hung up at that point because I don't like being yelled at, especially by someone to whom I've just paid a lot money for services. If there is still the concept of the "customer is always right" it's not practiced by Window Concepts in Elmhurst Illinois. Please spend your money elsewhere. EVENING CALL AT 6:30 After a very contentious call with Bob Domeq, I had to hang up. At one point during the call, Bob, one of the owners of this business asked me "Who the F@ck do you think you are?" On top of that, he asked me what I thought I was entitled to, as if somehow he forgot about the fact that I gave him $20K. Reached out to this company to get an estimate to replace patio doors. I was told they would not come out to give me an estimate unless both my husband and I were present to hear what they had to say. I tried to explain 3 different ways and times that it was not possible for them to meet with both of us at the same time for an initial estimate, and she REFUSED to schedule an appointment. I understand she needed to get both my husband and myself to be on the same page once decisions were to be finalized, but this was just an estimate. I have met with other Window/Door companies to get the same type of estimate, and never was I insulted, or demeaned the way I was by this company. She told me if I changed my mind, I could call her back. I told her I would not be calling her back! Do not know how they received a positive rating anywhere! DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!! Unable to read the 15 reviews on yelp so I'll just add my complaint. Very high pressure sales. Unresponsive to requests to redo shutters that were installed on one window that were not evenly placed. Because I had the window concept sign in my front yard, my neighbors called WC for an estimate for a new roof. They told me later that they almost had to physically remove the salesperson from their house because he would not leave until they signed a contract. Product failed to perform as promised, owners Brian and Bob told me "common sense" says new windows would not solve my sound issues. Salespersons Dave and Garry spent 2 hours in my home experiencing the noise and draft issues. They promised, assured, etc. that their product would alleviate my sound issues and I would be able to sleep in my home again. Dave received a call from a customer and put it on speaker when the man said, "Thank you! I can sleep again." Dave came back a week later to sign the contract, spending another hour hearing the noise. Never had a doubt this would solve our problem. Contract even states to insulate for "sound minimization." The only reason we replaced any windows was due to sound. No other reason and we were extremely transparent regarding past home reno issues. I wanted to do one window, they pressured me into 6 due to the cost benefit and promises of complete satisfaction. And I didn't have to pay a penny until I was 100 % satisfified. (I say pressured, Bob's response, "It's not like the Godfather where they had a gun to your head.) We had our windows, soffits and gutters replaced 5 years ago and since that day we have had horrible noise issues and our utility bills have increased 50%. (Brian and Bob insist this is impossible. Easy to prove, though that's not the point. Their company deceived me.) No one at window concepts expressed any doubt this would not solve the problem. Not their salesperson, Maria, carpenter, nor installers. Not until it didn't work did Bob and Brian speak exceedingly loudly to me that I was the problem and common sense dictates this never would have solved my problem. I requested a portion of my cost refunded. Based on Brian and Bob statements, their employees never should have sold me any product since "common sense" says it wouldn't help. I should get 100% back. IN addition, I had to pay upon installation, not when 100% satisfied. No one indicated this when scheduling the install. They promised one thing, their product did not perform. The level of anger expressed by Brian and Bob was inappropriate and scary. Brian even asked (screamed) at one point why my husband was not involved in the discussion. After, yet again, being accused of being the problem, I screamed at them to get out of my house. Everyone with whom I dealt at Window Concepts was shown pictures indicating the initial contractor's failure to install the windows properly. Brian and Bob were given this prior to coming to my home, yet screamed at me that I was the problem. Even when given concrete, indisputable evidence of issues, it was my fault. It's clear to me that they ripped me off and then they came into my home to "inspect" their windows, screamed at me, and as they left said they had data to prove God knows what. They had no authorization to record anything in my home. The only thing that matters here is that their employees sold me something that according to Bob and Brian "common sense" dictates would not work. They took advantage of a desperate person. I made it clear financially I could not afford yet another home reno disaster. Clearly, based on their treatment and comments to me and other reviews such as Hope T's of 9/11/18, stay far away from this company, especially if you are a woman. While I am a but fearful of their response (if any) to this review based on their extremely emotional reactions in my home, I feel it is important for others to know that even according to the owners, their staff do not possess common sense. read more

Our dealings with Windows Concepts started back in March. They were one of several companies to come out and give us an estimate on replacing the windows in our living room and kitchen. The salesperson/rep we dealt with kept insisting that there was "no pressure" but then with the next breath he'd ask what he needed to do to close the sale right then and there. Once he finally realized that we were not going to make the decision that night (which we told him from the start as we still had another company coming out to give us an estimate along with research we wanted/needed to do), the phone calls started. Every few days we'd get a call asking if we'd made a decision yet, offering a bit of a reduction in price, telling us that we had until XX to make the decision because after that the price would go up, etc. The only thing that kept them in the running was the price (not the lowest but definitely reasonable) and because they were good about answering our questions. Finally, we said yes and signed the contract. A couple of weeks later, we added in one more window (in our half bath). The measure tech guy came out (twice), the windows were ordered, no issues. Got the call in late May to schedule the installation. The installer assured us that there was nothing out of the ordinary about our installation... The guys would get there around 8 or 8:30 and be done the same day. If everything went smoothly, this would probably be a 4 star review. Fast forward to June. The morning of the installation, around 2am, we realized that we hadn't heard anything regarding a permit. Windows Concepts said they'd get the permit (and tack the cost of it onto the balance owed) but we knew that they hadn't applied for one as they didn't have the required plat of survey. So, we're in panic mode just a few hours before they're set to come out and start working. The first guy arrived at right around 7:30 and we immediately asked about the permit. He had no clue. All he could tell us was that he didn't have one. So, he scrambles to get a hold of someone at the office and we find out that we don't actually need a permit. It sure would have been nice if someone had informed us of that and saved us hours of nail-biting. But, ok. The installer gets to work and is soon joined by 3 more installers. They get the windows mostly installed when one of the guys says he needs the check so he can go and start setting up for another job they had in the area that day. There was a bit of back and forth (the amount due told to me by the lady in the office was more than what the installer said we owed). We figured out the discrepancy (it was the bathroom window we added on), handed him the check and off he went. The other guys finished up shortly thereafter and left. They left some trash behind but said they'd be back to pick it up later (after the other job) and sure enough, they did come back a few hours later. No problems. Later that day, our neighbor mentioned that she felt the the bathroom window (on the outside) was sort of sloppy and unprofessional looking and as we looked a bit more at the window, we realized that we had to agree with her. We noticed a couple of areas where there's a gap between the caulk and the brick (on the outside of one of the kitchen windows). We also noticed a few issues on the inside of the kitchen windows. We realized that they had caulked one of the kitchen windows on the inside onto the wallpaper and now, just over a month later, the wallpaper is pulling away from the wall leaving a gap. It sort of begs the question, knowing that we're fixing up the house and doing all kinds of work on it, why did they insist that we had to remove the burglar bars from the windows on the outside but leave the wallpaper on the inside. There are several gaps in the caulk by that same window and the new frame does not line up at the corners, leaving more gaps. We called Window Concepts and I spoke with one of the owners and he assured me that he'd have someone call us and come out the next day. No one called or came out to the house. Since then, I've called several times and no one even bothers calling me back any more. The work we were hoping to get done on the house this summer is coming to a standstill while we try to figure out what to do. Knowing that we plan on replacing the rest of the windows in the house (9 windows) and replacing the front and back doors (and storm doors) as well as some other work, one would think that they'd be more responsive, if for no other reason than because they want our business in the future. p.s. We did, finally, get in touch with a guy ("Tony") who said he'd come out and take a look and that it should be a quick fix. That was almost 3 weeks ago. Judge for yourself if this is how a company should treat its customers. read more

The salesman gave us a great price on a new roof, although without tear off, just on top of the old roof. Said they needed 4-6 weeks lead time for scheduling. Took our thousand dollar down payment. After a month I called asking when we'd be scheduled. A couple of days later the "owner" called saying he was working on getting us scheduled. A week later he called back calling me just by my last name, saying he could not guarantee the roof would not leak and cancels the contract. We are still, almost three weeks after this, waiting for a refund of the down payment. If they don't get us the refund in another week, I feel I may have to seek legal recourse against them. I love our new windows! Can't believe what a difference it makes in the house, and we only did the first floor so far. The electric bill is almost half of what it usually is in the summer even after a major heat wave....I can only imagine how much we'll save on heat this winter. Let's just say I told the sales man to leave and get out. They did come once to provide a quote, as we were not happy with the rate we said we would think if over. A few days later we received a call saying that the owner wanted to come out to remeasure and provide us a new quote. So last night the same sales guy showed up with no intention to measure a thing. When I asked him to write us a quote to review he said they can not and do not write out quotes. Well I showed him the door and thanked him for wasting my time and lying about who would be coming out. Back in 2007, I had the pleasure of meeting Brian Murphy, the Big Guy @ Window Concepts. We contracted for 8) Double Hung windows, 2) Bays, 1) Garden window and a leaded glass front door with 2) mating sidelights. He gave me a fair price then and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the windows, door, and trim work install. Now in 2020, I'm having problems with my old Pella patio door. Due to age and water damage, the door just would not open, close, or latch properly. (I used a crowbar to open it!). This was also a quality door in it's day until it gave up the ghost! Then after all these years I remembered the quality craftsmen I was so happy with. Hoping they were still in business, I gave Brian a call. I was happy when Brian himself came for my estimate, as he was in the neighborhood. Better yet, he said he still has these great carpenters/trim guys working for him. He beat the price from a previous estimate and I signed with him. He did say it would take awhile, as Covid caused these supply disruptions. The wait was well worth it as my door was installed with the same professionalism as before. Trim looks good and it works perfect. I even have an outside key lock, that was not available on the other quote. With a lifetime warrantee, how could I go wrong? Not a good experience The director of sales Maria kept calling me "sweet heart" over the phone. They never came for their first scheduled appointment and when I called to follow up they finally called back. I understand things happen, however when they knew a sales rep could not make their appointments they should have called first. The second sales rep called, when I explained some of my needs changed. He wouldn't be upfront with pricing, and instead kept pushing me for my willingness to pay, got totally bent out of shape when I wanted to skip his red heat lamp demo and just collect energy efficiency metrics instead, got very sarcastic, and suggested that I "hated [his] windows". Ill-prepared and unprofessional. Did not possess any Window Concepts identifiers or company truck/van, so the whole thing felt like a sketchy back-of-the-car operation. It's hard to give them a review at all. We called for an estimate to replace 14 windows. We scheduled it on the phone and everything was fine. The day of the appointment, I received a call from a gentleman who said he was the Sales Manager and would be taking the place of the sales person I made the appointment with. He indicated that he liked to call ahead and learn what we were looking for. I told him we had done our research, he wasn't the first company we talked to and told him exactly the type and style we were interested in (vinyl not wood, aluminum, etc and double hung, casement and picture). He showed up at the correct time and wasted 35 minutes of time talking about wood windows and all the large jobs he had written. We told him exactly what we wanted a price on. He continued to tell us about vinyl windows that had wood grain laminates or could be stained. We told him again, exactly what we wanted. He started in on triple pane windows and other options that we told him we were not interested in. To cut he story short, he finally got around to measuring the windows. He worked up a quote on his note pad, not a quotation form. He promised to email the official quote. He never emailed the quote and was $2500 most costly ( we wrote down what he verbally quoted us) that our other two quotes we obtained. It is needless to say that Window Concepts did not get our business. BTW...When he was here, he gave himself a promotion to General Manager. read more
