We had heard good reviews about this place. We sat down and Waited forever to get our food. It came out cold and half wrong. The meal itself was only mediocre at best. Burger was comparable to mcdonalds. Our waitress must have been slammed because we hardly saw her and then checking out took another 20 minutes alone. 0/5. Love this place! Whether it's just stopping in for a few drinks or a bite to eat there is always great music, service, and food. Within the last year they opened a small lot across the street for more parking which is great, unless I had missed it up until more recently. read more

I have been to Windmill several rimes. Staff is friendly and drinks are reasonable. Of course the hot dogs are famous. Last week I had a blast on the dance floor listening to a live band. It was JAM packed. Kudos Windmill. read more

Always loved this place. It is a hometown favorite. My friends an I went there this past week. Our waitress, Zoe (I think that's how you spell it) she was on top of her game. The Windmill was sold, remodeled and reopened about 6 months ago. The bottom line is that not a lot has changed. It's always been a good neighborhood joint to stop into for a beer and a couple of dogs. It still is. The expanded food menus are hit and miss. They are making an attempt at live music but I suspect the booking manager is lazy because they keep having the same old B-list of bands every month. Their facebook page is filled with non-stop hype over the place but it is phony and transparent. They talk about how happening the place is but I'm not seeing it. Sparse crowds. Little parking. Questionable neighborhood. Like I said earlier - a local joint to grab a beer and a dog..... nothing more, nothing less. read more

Utterly blown away with the incompetence of the staff there this evening. We had a large party and despite me trying to let the server know ahead of time to separate my tab with my sister and mother, only to be told that he would figure it out later, out comes the check and problems galore. Aside from the server being impossible to find for anything, what he decided to do in his infinite wisdom was to charge us for almost half of the table because everyone else had paid separately, so clearly that meant everyone else was together. I get the assumption but maybe clear it with us first? When we tried to resolve the issue the server was apathetic and unhelpful, walking away while we were trying to figure it out. We handled it ourselves but suppose we went the route where he voided the charge, that would have meant the money would be held up for 72 hours. If I was in a position where that was a problem I would have thrown their credit card machine out the window. It was St. Patrick's Day, it was crowded, I get it, but this guy was an absolutely terrible server even taking that into consideration. Which speaks to the management's intelligence. You're a pretty popular bar on St. Patrick's Day and you have this guy on the floor? Figure it out guys... read more

Been coming here since I was a kid. Great dogs, fries, potato pancakes and pieroghis. Very nostalgic.

Overall the new ownership is doing well, the food is good and there is a decent beer selection. But I have 1 compliant and this is the third time it has happened. The happy hour promo doesn't apply at the tables...I guess you have to sit at the bar to get the HH pricing. When there is a posted promotion, and no fine print, I don't think a customer has to question the staff as to why the pricing is different, the beer, the food and drinks are all more expensive. I guess price point advertising is in full effect! read more

Cool atmosphere. Service was excellent, waiter was very attentive. HOWEVER...extra charge for salsa & sour cream with an order of nachos? Shouldn't that be included??? Also, charged $2.50 for club soda every time. Wouldn't have been upset if it was for the first one and then free refills. But every glass? This added up to an unexpected $15+ for our table of four. And we had ordered several drinks early on in our night. Just switched to club soda toward the end. read more

We went to the "NEW" Windmill Restaurant last for the first time since the new owners took over and all the inside remodeling was finished. It was a great big disappointment to say the least. I have been a life long resident of Stratford and have been going to the Windmill for around 40 years. The inside looks very nice but the hot dogs and burgers were terrible. The rolls were dry and falling apart & the toppings were skimpy. We had to stop at another hot dog place on the way home because i didn't want to order anything else there. I told our server how disappointed I was and he said he was sorry to hear that, nothing else. It's sad to say but I will probably never go back. read more

Tried for first time on Friday night, only one bartender for both bar and dining room, long waits for drink and to make matters worse manager /owner actually stopped bartender from serving customers so that he could take photos with her. Then to top it off they ran out of Captain Morgans rum. This has been one of the worst run bars I have seen. read more

We had a party of 22 people attending a annual, childhood, neighborhood reunion at the Windmill. We arrived at our reserved section and all ordered plenty of food and drinks. The service and food were great. We were told about the band that was going to play later in the evening. By 7:30 management had started to ask us leave as other people would like to have our tables and enjoy dinner. After all, we all had dinner already is what we were told. Mind you, were were not loud and rowdy. Most of us are in our 50's and some of our party members are in in their 80's. So much for a neighborhood bar and grill. I can assure you that none of us will ever return to that establishment after being treated like that. read more

Well,not sure where to start,went there with friends a few days ago,walked in,the place was semi crowded,but there were tables available.We sat,waited 15 mins for someone to come over and take our drink order and give us menus.After putting in our order,we waited another 10 mins for our drinks to come(3 bottled beers and a mixed drink).35 mins later(now it's an hour since we walked in),our 3 burgers and 4 hotdogs arrive at the table,the hotdogs were good I must say,but the burgers?,yuck,they were overcooked,dry.We mentioned this to the server but her reaction was"that's how they are",really?,your burgers are always overcooked and dry??..We ate what was edible,and wanted to order another round,but unfortunately,our server was nowhere to be found,After about 15 more mins,I went up to the bar to ask the bartender to find our server so we could just pay and get the heck out.In a nutshell,we won't be going back.. read more
