Love this park for my son and for getting my steps in! They are open typically around 7:00am to sunset. The children's park is covered and has an areas for all ages. They also have a dog park, basketball court, tennis courts, fitness area, fishing, handball etc. Plenty of parking. I love that it's right by the water and there's a bit of shade as you're trying to get your daily steps in. I have recently been trying to find more outdoor activities and this is one of my local favorites in coconut creek/margate. read more

I have been coming to this dog park for years and I have had fun but I have also seen a lot of bad doggie behavior and indifference by pet owners. I finally stopped coming because some people were not watching their dogs as closely as they should. The worst incident I saw happened when a bike rider was going past the fence. A dog pulled off the leash a man was holding and leaped up and ripped her arm open. After that I was done. The problems of the past seem to be over with the new renovation of the dog park. You must register your pet now in order to use it. Registration is $35 for Coconut Creek residents and $70 for non residents. There are separate parks for large and small dogs. The city has added wash stations and agility equipment for the dogs. The park is lovely since it borders a lake and there are over 60 trees providing shade. Water fountains, benches, and a wash station were also added. Keeping your pet safe is a security fence surrounding the entire dog park. Right now only around 150 dog owners have signed up so the park is never crowded. The park is closed on Tuesdays for maintenance. The iconic windmill of the park has now been moved to the inside of the dog park and a lot of landscaping was added. The renovation of the dog park was part of a 3 million dollar Windmill park renovation. Parking used to be dicey but not anymore as the parking lot has been expanded to twice it's size. A new playground has been also added for human kids. Furry kids can be registered at the Community Center up the street on Lyons Road. Once you pay you are given a FOB to enter the dog park fence. read more

Nice park that used by a lot of people as a dog park. My friend Kevin told me about it and we brings his dogs often. They have a nice office right at the entrance of the park and a two dual port EV charging stations. Both the small and large dog parks are roughly 3⁄4 of an acre each. Exclusive amenities include private dog wash stations, attached restrooms, agility equipment, pavilions, 6-foot wide sidewalks, water fountains, benches, security fencing, and over 60 trees for shading. Usual opening hours are 8am to dusk, but check their website for updates. Renovated in September of 2019, Windmill Park is a fully customized, family-oriented, and pet-friendly environment. Located on Lyons Road north of Atlantic Boulevard, besides the dog park, Windmill Park offers pickleball courts, tennis courts, racquetball courts, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, walking path, and a covered playground. read more

This park sure has changed a lot since the days I used to bring my son to coconut creek elementary just across the street. I was thoroughly impressed with the changes. There are exercising machines, the kiddie playground got a nice overhaul, and I saw plenty of people making great use of the tennis and volleyball courts. There is also a dog park that I had totally forgot was here. I am planning on bringing my little ones next time This park seems to have it all. The only downside is that there isn't a walk/bike path that goes around the whole man made pond. You can walk 1/2 of it and once you make it to the community center, there is a fence that doesn't allow you to continue as there is no sidewalk and is in the back of people's homes. just nitpicking really, but it would be nice if you could walk around the whole pond. There is plenty more to do here though. I will keep this park in mind for the futere. read more

This park has a everything for everyone of all ages. From a park to tennis courts and basketball courts. Handball court and volleyball courts. Even a workout spot oh i forgot to mention that they have a dog park also It's very clean and friendly. The staff is present and the people who are here are nice as well. Every device is well kept and in working condition. My son ran around and loved every minute of it. He did not want to leave. They have vending machines for snacks and sodas. I dot know if the concession was open because I did not check. Parking is plenty. read more

Windmill Park is located in Coconut Creek just north of Atlantic on Lyons Rd. This park has something for everyone, basketball, tennis, playground, sand volleyball and a dog park. The tennis courts are lighted and are 1st come 1st served unless there is a tournament. There was no one playing tennis during my visit on a Thursday afternoon. There is a wide, paved waking path around the entire park with plenty of benches and water fountains. The hours are daily sunrise to sunset although the dog park hours are 8 a.m. to sunset as there are no lights in the dog park. There is a section of the dog park for large dogs and another area for small dogs. I observed many dogs at the park. There is an annual fee of $35 for residents and $70 nonresidents. There is plenty of parking and there are 2 EV charging stations that were in use during my visit. read more

I used to visit this part while taking my son to the elementary school behind the park. They have done a lit of improvements to the park in the years since. The park is very well maintained and offers a lot of activities for visitors. From a volleyball sand court, to a handball court, outdoor exercise equipments, a dogs park, and a community center. It also has parking on both end of the park, separated by a big lake. The only complaint I have is that the trail around the lake does not go fully around the lake based on my walk. One half of the lake appear to be part of a residential neighborhood. Therefore to fully go around the lake, you have to walk into the neighborhood streets and loose sight of the lake. I guess the house were there before the park and there was nothing the could have done! Overall, this is great park, that offers a lit to its visitors. read more

The Coconut Creek Dog Park at windmill park is such a beautiful dog park I just wish I would see more dogs here but even alone with Barkley we always manage to have a good time! This friendly off-leash dog park is fully fenced and includes a separate area for smaller and larger pets with a shade pavilion. There is water available for the dogs but you may want to bring a bowl just in case. Since my first visit, they've added more obstacles and play areas for both smaller and larger breeds but could use a little more revamping for the large dog area in order to make it a little more exciting. All in all, there's plenty of space for any breed to enjoy and if you walk around on-leash you could even enjoy a nice view of the lake from the deck adjacent to the dog park. read more

Wow....? What a gorgeous park. They totally renovated it . The dog park has a wonderful sidewalk all the way around.... They have bathrooms , water bottle filling stations , dog showers, beautiful benches, maintained area with poo bags, and Bathrooms for humans !!!! It's really safe and sound . You need to register your dogs and it's not a bar code reader, so you can't just share the tag . Also if the shot isn't up to date, they can turn off the tag... We don't live in coconut creek and I paid 100 for 2 dogs. It was so worth it ... it's truly dog heaven:) read more

Was a great little friendly dog park but now after being closed for a year and a half for renovations I'm being told I need a membership. $35 for residents and $15 for each additional dog; $70 for non residents $30 for each additional dog. Very disappointed by this greedy decision. I understand a small charge to make sure dogs are up on their vaccinations... maybe $10/$15 per dog but I would have to pay $100 to use the park 3 miles from my house. So as it turns out after they finally finished renovations the dog park now costs $35 for a membership! Is this a health club or a gym? What are my taxes going for? The new park is beautiful. The amenities are brand new. The new dog park is much better than the old one because an annual fee is required, and people are more invested in keeping the park nice. It has lots of trees, dog washing areas, pavilions, bathrooms, fountains, and a thoughtful layout. My dogs and I love the new park. read more

I really like how there is several section and how there is a nicely sized section for smaller sized breed. The grass isn't kept up with as good as other parks in Broward but it isn't run down either. I find my smaller dog likes it because it isn't as over crowded as other parks in the area. read more
