Recommend calling ahead and making sure you know what you need to get a pass. The door will not open unless you get a pass. There is a small dog area. The space was a decent size but a bit small. There are benches to sit. There was quite a bit of areas without grass and that were mostly dirt. The dog owners were respectful and the dogs were quite cute and friendly. read more

Usually a great dog park to visit with your large or smaller dogs I have a smaller dog mostly very nice people. There is a woman there everyday with her two dogs I won't mention her name she's tall and skinny and one of her dogs likes to chase the squirrels and on occasion her dog catches one of the squirrels and she does not make her dog let go of the squirrel she actually lets her dog kill the squirrel. I went there today at about 10:30 and she was leaving and two women were there and they said they just had a big argument with her because her dog caught a squirrel and she let her dog kill it even when they were yelling at her to make it stop the dog's owner just laughed this is not normal behavior and I don't think this should be allowed I think she and her dog should be banned. read more

For 18 years of my life, I've lived in Pompano and I have never been able to use this dog park I go to bark Park in Oakland I have never been more welcomed in my dogs has made best friends for a lifetime and I could care less if they're Vaxxed or not lol I'm sad this is how we have to be to have our dogs have fun. I used to take my Chihuahua here every morning before work. He loved it. Everyone watched their dogs and they were good about keeping the big dogs out of the little dog park. My job situation changed and I stopped coming. Fast forward to today when I was going stir crazy from being stuck inside all afternoon by the rain. There was a break in the weather so I decided to take my little buddy over to the park. There have been some major changes since I was here last. For one you have to pay to use the park now. Since January you have to register your dog and pay the yearly $30 fee in order to use the park. I don't object to this in principal. It keeps the park safer and the fee is a nominal one. It does however keep a visitor like me out. In order to get in the park you need the code on the key fob they give you when you pay. I believe the refurbished dog park in Coconut creek will also be moving to a pay park when Windmill Park reopens in June. If this is the case I will just pay for that one since it is closer to where I live. In any case I couldn't use the park anyway because it is closed on Tuesdays for refurbishment and I had forgotten that. The park looked great though. The have it separated into two areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. The grass looked fantastic and there were nice benches with shade umbrellas. I use to love watching the planes fly in close overhead as they landed at the nearby Pompano Airport. I had a lot of great memories here so it's a shame I won't be able to visit anymore. Hence my rating of a three. I think it's a five if you are a Pompano resident and can come here with the registration. Since I can't use it anymore I had to drop the rating. read more

This dog park was nice! It's not free you have to pay I think $30 for the whole year and then they give u a code or something at the gate. Someone happened to walk in before me and let me in during our first visit. Section for small dogs had plenty of space, lots of tennis balls to throw around and a doggy water foundation with a few bowls u can fill up and take around the park with you. All the dogs were well behaved and I met some nice owners as well. I like this park I'll bring Glory back here even though I might have to pay next time read more

I go to this park with my ChiPin mix almost everyday, at various hours of the day. My dog and I love coming here. You do on occasion run into owners who don't have tags on their dogs, don't pick up after their dogs, or their dogs seem to be in heat but this is inevitable wherever you go for FREE. If people want residents/tourists to be forced to show proof of up-to-date vaccinations then get ready to pay an annual/weekly/daily park fee. Otherwise, live with it. You like it free, you've got to sacrifice some things. But no worries prospective fur-baby-park-goers, the park is well kept for the most part, the people are nice, and altercations are rare. This park has regulars, myself included, and most of them are nice and do well to help maintain the parks in the best condition. I don't know what regulars the previous reviewer was referring to that were "wasted" but I can assure you all that that is not a regular thing. There are plenty of faucets and shade for the dogs, fair amount of seating (some people bring their own to hang out), and plenty of space to run/roam. There is also lots of parking and the airport/community park trail runs right by the dog park so that if you wanna go running with your furry one, you can. Very thankful to have a park nearby where my furry one can run around, enjoy the Florida heat, socialize, I can play with other pups, and then he can pass out in the car good and tired. read more

I was dog-sitting my sister's Chihuahua (Max is his name), and decided to take him to this dog park on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Max is around four pounds (very much a lap dog), and was very comfortable in the smaller dogs' section (25 pounds or less). I really liked this place. Max got a good workout as he was free to roam around as he pleased. The other dogs would come around and sniff his behind, but he had no interest in returning the favor. He instead chose to carve his own path, but he wasn't bothered by the other dogs. He appeared content. The dog-loving patrons are friendly, and it is very easy to strike up conversations. There aren't a lot of benches, and savvy veterans bring their own lawn chairs, and coolers in some instances. They sit together and socialize as their dogs trot around freely. read more

I came to this pup park by a neighbor's recommendation. At first I liked that it was private with all dogs showing proof of vax, but unfortunately, the more I use the park, the more disappointed I am. I've found that other parks a couple miles away are kept a lot nicer (and free!!). PROS: there's three parks areas - large and small (under 25#) then a third for overflow. There's several benches and shade. There's a double gate system to come in to keep pups safe and lots of shaded parking. The large dog side has hoses to wash up your pup after muddy play and there are dog drinking fountains throughout each park. I like that there are some friendly young couples with great pups that come consistently. Always happy to see them. CONS: overflow park is always locked off and closed even when there's a ton of dogs here at busy hours. I wish the overflow could be used as a midsize dog park like Mizner Dog park does, bc a 28# pup and a 150# pup are a huuuge difference. Would be nice if they added some dog obstacle courses or fountain play area. They have plenty of room to do something like this! Wish they had restrooms for people nearby. The large dog parks are always SUPER muddy, even after resodding the grass. And a lot of people don't pick up after their pups so be wary walking through the grass! There's quite a few cliques of "seasonal seniors" that are really nasty people and have aggressive dogs that they won't remove even after causing fights. I've seen about 5 fights in the last two months and they get way out of hand, and the pet owners are no better! I wish there were at least one park ranger there on premises all hours to help deescalate these situations. They happen more than I care for and the owners absolutely refuse to leave when their pup is having an 'off day' The park is closed all day Tuesdays for maintenance, but there's not much improvement, maybe just a quick mowing. Wish they'd only close half day or just close an hour or two midday when visitors are limited anyway. Overall, the park is nice, but being one of the only charging parks in the area, they should do better with amenities and clean up. Like I mentioned, some of the seasonal visitors really ruin it for the others. I try to keep my distance when I see them there. Oh, and my neighbor that originally recommended this park to me in the first place? She's discontinued coming bc her pup got beat up badly by one of these group's dogs. It's such a shame, but I'm not at all surprised at this point. If your dog is unfriendly or having an off day, don't come to the park or kindly take them home at the first sign of trouble. Like I said, I think having a ranger there more often would really make a difference! read more

There is a guy that will go around and "enforce" the laws in his own time, whether your dogs have the right tags, which I am all for, but when he has to handle it himself causes an issue, this is why we have law enforcement officers and code enforcement personnel. Apparently this guy help runs the park but has no identification. I've also had numerous of annoying issues with other dog owners. I am a professional handler and my dogs are highly skilled and trained, but some of the locals that bring their dogs are absolutely insane, which is why I no longer go to this park. Plus it seems to always be closed.. Beware of stupid owners that probably shouldn't own dogs. read more

Pompano has done an amazing job renovating this dog park. People are friendly and dogs can run wild. Doggie bags are provided, there is seating for people, toys for the pups, water bowls, a dog tub and a hose to rinse them off. There are 2 separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. Keep in mind that since this is a grass park obviously it can get very muddy when it rains, so be prepared and bring a towel. read more

Not sure if it's the snowbirds or the shows on tv, but lately there have been a bunch of dog fights, sometimes a human leaves bleeding as well. (regarding the reason, it seems breed related. Try to guess which one, here's a few hints-"He's never done that before." "I don't know what happened, all of the sudden he just attacked." "He's a really nice dog, he doesn't bite, but might lick you to deat.....Oh god, stop, Stop, STOP!!!!!!") It's usually the same dogs, so after this happens about three times, the owner's three remaining brain cells fire in sync and the owner figures out it may be a good idea to stop coming to the park. Less attacks very recently, but might be because a lot of people with good dogs stopped coming due to attacks, so there's less chance of confrontation. read more

I had a very bad experience at the park today. I had paid yesterday for a year membership . I went yesterday and today. A set of woman who I've been told come every morning and every evening we're there sitting on their lawn chairs. Chit chatting, not watching their dogs. One of their dogs came up to the bench I was sitting at and took my dogs water bowl and tore it to shreds . The owner just laughed and said she couldn't do anything about it and her dog does that all the time. The other woman with her, her dog took two of my dogs balls and she basically said she couldn't get it out of her dogs mouth. They were rude! And another lady told me they think they own the place. I left and would not go back because of this situation . I asked for my money back, for the year I paid. Such a shame that adults act like they have no control over their dogs??? Really??? They need to be talked too!disgusting people.They also need lessons from the dog whisper who says the humans need to be trained, Not the dogs... read more

My dog has so much fun here! There's the occasional person who thinks they are in their own backyard and guard their toys more than the dogs. Or think the dogs are children and people are supposed to chase them around. I let my dog run free (there are plenty of tennis balls), he runs with the other running types, chills when he's tired, and I watch to make sure I catch him poop. We loved taking our 5 month, 8 pound, Mabel here yesterday! We can't wait to go again! There are safety gates at the entrance, 2 zones for 25+\- dogs, walking areas for people and tons of grass. I never stepped on poop! Everyone was very friendly and stepped in if there was aggressive behavior. Multiple times I saw owners correcting poor behaviors. Parking was easy. The only sore spot for our pup was the airplanes flying overhead but it seems like she got used to the smaller ones after a bit! read more

I have been going to this park for over a year now and have seen it many different conditions, it needs a lot of work. It's pretty comparable to surrounding dog parks but now that we have to pay to "enjoy" the park, I hope to see some improvements soon. The bags were empty for 2 days, every water fountain always has a moat of muddy water surrounding. My new key doesn't work, even after calling the office. The hose in the wash off station by the entrance is always leaking and floods into the other dog area, which doesn't look or smell sanitary for our dogs safety. Please work on these issues at least in the larger dog areas. read more

i came here today for the first time ... this place is far from where i live but there isnt any decent dog park around here..and my doggy deserved a play day.. i must say..im pretty impressed with the park.. all the grass is there.. everyones really nice.. but the only complaint i have is it doesnt have enough benches.. but i did see alot of "regulars" bought their own chairs n stuff... hey..they shouldve just left them there if they are there that often.. lemme sit in them things! its got alot of parking area ... and most places i know have double gates..this one has triple gates..making sure our doggies are going NOHERE.. .. poop bags, water/ water bowls are provided ..obv i prob wont come here that often cuz of the drive but i def will come back here again read more

I have recently joined this dog park and absolutely love it! The decision to have dog owners pay a minimal fee of $35.00 a year is brilliant. All the owners and the dogs I have met so far are very nice and the everyone gets along famously. Registering your pet and paying the small fee helps keep the irresponible people at bay. It also helps pay to keep the park as nice as it is. There are plenty of water fountains for the dogs, shady trees and benches for the owners, and lots of grass for running around and sniffing! I recommend this park to anyone who wants to have a fun time with their dog(s) and not have to worry about dogs who do not have their rabies shots or their good manners! read more

Beautiful dog park, with different areas for different sized dogs. My dog is afraid of loud noises, however, and this dog park is right next to an airport so small planes are constantly flying overhead. For my dog that's a deal breaker - he's absolutely terrified of the dog park now and refuses to enter it. If your dog is afraid of the loud rumble of planes this isn't the park for you! Try Snyder Park instead. It's a long drive but so worth it. read more

My dog and I love this park! Mario is a small jackchi and he loves walking around the park and soaking up the sun. I take a chair and watch the dogs play. It's like a form of meditation - the dogs are so happy and free spirited. It makes my spirits soar to watch the pups enjoy themselves. There's a lot of regulars and after a while you get to know other people and their dogs. I love going here as much as my dog. read more

Nicest park in the area! If you're a 15-30min ride it's well worth the trip. The park is very clean, everyone is extremely friendly, there's plenty of water for the dogs, and the park is ABSOLUTELY HUGE!! On top of that there's a nice little area to wash your dog after the your day at the park. But I would recommend you bring a longer hose and a friend to help wash your pal. The spout for the water only last a couple of minutes after it is pushed down and has to be pushed again which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're alone. A friend to help is nice to have. read more

The 3rd section of the park has been completed. It seems fairly nice although smaller than the original big dog part of the park. The "old" big dog side is currently closed to do landscaping work (the grass needed help). They also added fencing to temporarily close off flooded areas during heavy rains so that the whole park doesn't have to be closed. I haven't seen the bathrooms we were promised, but I've only been there once since it opened. read more

Listen I could've gave this park a better rating if I did not have a rude welcoming by these two older woman who believes that they were the park rangers. I was trying to obtain information on how to sign up after I realize it was not a free park and I was being harassed and told to leave. one lady said I can't even afford to pay. I felt insulted and judged. However since I love my dog, I will never get in the way of her fun. My dog is well taken care of, very sweet dog and have all of her papers Just like the rest. I'm not going to take away the fun from her. I signed her up and payed The annual fee. she made a pup friend or 2. But honestly I didn't have to go through all that! Especially For all the other parks that are free. Everything got better when all the bad apples left and We mingle with some super friendly and positive people who shared similar stories. We laughed about it and I got over it for a second. I was told that One thing that this park is known for is people dropping themselves in front of the gate and making people feel uncomfortable to even come to the park. So why would people sign up if they don't feel welcome?! So this is my complaint. I think that the park recreation center should take note of this and add this to the rules for all people to treat members and nonmembers with respect. If they are not members to just inform them On where to go to sign up. (no fuss required policy). I feel the part could be much better with a more positive atmosphere Amongst the adults. read more

The park is really nice, with plenty of room for the dogs to play. They have doggie mess bags all around for you to use when your dog goes and they have water in several areas as well for the dogs to drink and play with. I wish they had a human restroom, but its not a deal breaker. The entrance/waiting area is great and very convenient after after a particularly messy day to wash your little one with the water hoses they provide. The only drawback is there is not always someone there to enforce the rules and sometimes dog fights break out because an owner brings their dog and keeps it leashed, brings treats, doesn't reprimand their dog when its instigating fights, or reprimands every dog in the park for not acting like a human and acting like a dog. I recommend coming in the morning as my experience is that the aggressive dogs are usually brought over in the afternoon. read more
