Birthday party attendees should have a different entrance or should be able to bypass the line. Having to wait 30+ minutes just to walk in is RIDICULOUS. Also. $22+ to skate is absurd. Such a rip off. Every single staff member I encountered was nasty and rude. Especially the security guy at the door who was simultaneously trying to rush me in and stop me snoop through my bag while sanding down my SMALL children. Totally Unnecessary. It's over priced. Smells like burning plastic. The food is disgusting. It's dingey and old. And when the time is up they are insanely rude and shove you out the door as quick and rudely as they can saying "let's go we have to reset for the next session" as if it's anyone's fault this dump doesn't allot themselves enough time between sessions. It's trash. Staff sucks and treats every customer like a derelict teenager about to cause havoc. I'll NEVER go back here and I plan to tell everyone I know how nasty staff is and not to waste your money

I thought it would be closer to me in driving distance ,but, realized it was far in distance for me, personally. However, it was fun and kids had a great time! This rink hosts for all age levels and even saw some adults skating. The music was great and good fun vibes! However, I decided to come here specifically ,also bc, they were having a Halloween special offer for kids. The package included, a free goodie bag and pictures with small amount of "scary" Halloween costumes characters, that kids could meet and take pictures with. As time went by, I didn't hear or see anyone mentioning any of the things that were paid for ,regarding this package, and so, I asked one of the employees that worked at the window and told me , "I don't have any idea" so I'm thinking to myself, well considering that you do work here, you should have an idea and from my understanding, she went ahead and mentioned it to management and then I was able to receive the goodie bag that I had paid for. My point here is that, if I did not mention this to anyone... no one would have come to give us what we signed up and paid for. Even for the Halloween characters, I had to ask if they will be coming out at any time for the kids to take pictures with ,in which, they were looking forward to. These things should be done without customers having to ask about them ..more than once. I gave 3 stars bc even though it was a fun and nice place and the kids enjoyed it, it could be more organized and deliver what they promise,as far as ,their packages. Customers should not have to ask and especially more than once to receive their package goodies or whatever other packages they offer at the time of purchase. If this incident didn't occur, I would have given a better rating. Some of the staff members were nice and friendly. Also, one more thing... I suggest, not ordering any bottled water here, as they charged me $7.00 for a new water brand! I thought that was a complete rip off bc in supermarkets, they go for about $2-3 only being the size of this brand. Parking was very accessible and lots of parking spaces. I wish I could have given this place a higher rating but I believe they could do a lot better with their services. Seeing the kids enjoying and happy is what I mostly cared about but please consider being more organized and thoughtful with your customers and your services. Thank you!

The inside isn't too modern. It seems like things haven't been updated in a while. I'm not knocking it at all but it was just an observation that I made. My cousins and I had a fun time. On a hot day like today I was glad we were inside on the nice cool ice. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys going ice skating or is interested in playing hockey here. I will be coming back here over the summer.

Ocean Ice Palace has been around ever since I was a little girl, and now at 31, I am not so little…read moreanymore. I grew up attending birthday parties at the rink, taking figure skating lessons, and going public skating on Friday nights with friends throughout high school. Figure skating did not become a hobby of mine, horseback riding did, but the love for ice skating has stayed with me throughout my life and my memories of the Ice Palace are embedded in my mind. I recently revisited the Ice Palace to watch my cousin play hockey. He is a member of the premier Junior league the Jersey Shore Whalers and the Ice Palace is his home rink. My cousin is now 17 and has been playing hockey for as long as I can remember, and watching him and his teammates play for the Whalers has shown me what an incredible job his coaches and the league itself has done over the years to transform him into a fantastic hockey player. The Whalers work hard and train hard. Fights do break out ON the ice, as you see in any NHL game, but NOT off the ice. I have gotten to know many of the young men who play for this league besides my cousin, and they are all gentleman. The league builds men, not just quality players. The league also fosters team playing, friendship, and respect, on and off the ice. The guys all dress up and wear shirts and ties before and after each game. The league keeps the sport classy, as all sports should be. Ocean Ice Palace is also home to the Brick Hockey Club, and members of the club have gone on to to play for several colleges and even the NHL. I know this because I'm a Flyers fan, and James van Reinsdyk played for Brick Hockey! (He also played for the Maple Leafs I think). Beyond the hockey clubs, the rink still has its charms. You can still go public skating on Friday nights, take beginning figure skating lessons, or have a birthday party. The snack bar is still full of warm hot cocoa and big soft pretzels and makes Ocean Ice Palace a fun place to go, whether you are an adult or child. I give this rink a lot of credit. Hockey is not a popular sport in Jersey in comparison to football, baseball, and baseball. Ocean Ice Palace provides the ice time for the local high schools to have a hockey team, as well as be the home rink of premier junior leagues like the Whalers. Ocean Ice Palace brings new life and excitement back into the sport of hockey in New Jersey. If you want to public skate, learn to skate, or if you are seriously interested in hockey, this is the place for you. The rink doesn't get 5 stars because figure skating really does take back seat to hockey, you need to go to Wall Township or elsewhere if you want to pursue figure skating on a higher level. Regardless, Ocean Ice Palace is one of a kind. Check out their schedule and even drop by to see a junior league play. You will feel like you are at an NHL game :) Note- This review pertains to the Ocean Ice Palace, not the hockey supply store/ pro-shop.

The outside appearance and the automatic doors is nice, especially if you play hockey or bring your own gear, I can imagine the convenience that offers. Inside though, not much has changed from my childhood from about ten years ago. This is not to say it's bad, but it has that of school family friendly nostalgia. We got there pretty early so the ice was still nice and clean. We left at 12pm, half an hour before the public skate was over and they never brought out the Zamboni. It wasn't super packed but there were a good amount of skaters and the ice had gotten pretty choppy. I would have preferred it to be cleaned but I can understand that maybe it wasn't enough skaters to bring it out. The skate rental itself was very pleasant. They held on to both your shoes. It was actually required but they didn't charge extra for it which I really like. This is much better than at ski lodges where you leave your shoes and boots wherever and hope no one takes them. My friend needed to exchange sizes a couple of times but the attendants were always friendly about that and never seemed annoyed. There is also laser tag here which I have done as a child before Yelp but I didn't partake in that activity to comment on how that experience is, but it's something that can end the night out with the family if that interests you. Overall, old school feeling of a rink that is what it is, a family friendly skating rink where all ages and experience is welcome. Nothing special about it but that in a way is the charm about it. Nice outing or date night here.

They have a great field for baseball. Please note, Freehold Little League is held here so if there is a game, parking will be hard. They also have many playgrounds for kids. They seem to have themed playgrounds so that if you are meeting other parents, just say, "we'll convene at the blue or pirate ship playground" and everyone will find it. They have a fenced in skateboard ramps for tweens and up which I personally think is a fabulous idea. The ramps are spaced and curved only for skateboards. Longboards should definitely stay only on the paved paths where they belong. Speaking of trails, their trails are mixed between paved and dirt. You can safely go on a light walking trail here either solo or as you are walking your dogs. They also provide a few stations with plastic bags for the owners to clean up after their dogs. They also have basketball courts, dog runs, picnic areas, a spray ground on hot summer's days and my favorite, a sports field with obstacle courses. Perfect for the bigger kids with lots of energy and to build coordination. I went in March where things are just somewhat starting to bloom. I can only imagine the splendor in late June where everything will be fully bloomed and the grass will be lush. I look forward to revisiting this park, especially when it's Freehold Township Day where there will be plenty of fireworks, rides and the Vets car show!
