Many slot machines that pay out with tickets. One of my favorites was a spinning blackjack machine but the Ticket Circus was my absolute favorite. Tokens don't pay out but if you push a plastic piece over the edge, you get the number of tickets listed on that piece and each ticket is worth 10 points. The staff was friendly and patient. They were able to help any time there was an issue before we called them over since it was pretty quiet (one machine ran out of tickets and a different kind did not register one of the cards that went over the edge). All of the machines except the spinning blackjack machine accepted swipe cards, coins and bills. I appreciate the flexibility! Sometimes you don't want to invest in a card but need a few more tickets to get the prize you want. Tons of fun for adults and kids!

Fisherman's Cove is one of the few dog friendly beaches in New Jersey. Dogs are permitted to be off-leashed before 10AM and after 4PM. All the dogs had a great time playing with each other. The beach was clean and there are two portapotties on site, which were also very clean. There aren't too many restaurants nearby like in Point Pleasant or Asbury Park, so you might want to eat beforehand or bring food with you to the beach.

Leashes may be a good idea especially if your pup is unpredictable and young like my 10 month old Boxer/Lab is. A friend & I went there for the wine fest which had been moved from previous years at Allaire State Park. Despite the threatening weather, we had a fabulous time. There were perhaps 20 wineries, each with several types of wine to try. The area is large enough that you are not 6 deep waiting to taste wines. It seemed even our favorite wineries had a nice turnover going with patrons & we had very short waits. Some of my favorite NJ wineries were on hand including Plagido, Cava, DiMatteo, & Wagonhouse, just to name a few. They had plenty of food trucks to choose from with a great variety of food. I chose one I had never seen, Mexiflip. I ordered mango tacos that were delicious! 2 tacos for $6, very reasonable for this type of venue. Admission price was the same as Allaire had been, a very reasonable $25-$30 depending when you bought your ticket. There were also plenty of port-a-johns on site. Parking is extensive & with being a spread out as the park is, there was room for an additional 2 bands to play, alternatively, on opposite sides of the area. I wish had had gotten the names of some of the entertainers as all was very good. If was a fabulous day & I will definitely be returning for the next one. Next time however, I will bring lawn chairs, as seating is not provided.
