So I was in Winco getting some groceries I Bought a large Chuck roast for a BBQ ... I was going to smoke it for a party. I purchased a 4.2 lbs roast (this thing was like $38.00) and when I went to prepare it to smoke they had put 2 small roasts in the pkg to make it look like a large roast ... they will tell you they are out of products and will have a whole pallet in the back. Have found hair in my deli food more than one time. The upper management is very rude, they even cuss in front of customers. They are VERY rude and unkind to people with pets and disabled people. The store manager is a racists and liar. However, I kept receiving a message insisting I needed to call during business hours. It was 3:30 pm when I made the call. Additionally, when I contacted the store to speak to a manager and eventually spoke to one, she mentioned putting me on hold but abruptly hung up. The experience was utterly incompetent. read more

I was at the Nampa store this afternoon. I love Winco, have shopped there for 30 years but, today could change things. The cashier, a young girl named Victoria, never acknowledged me, never smiled in fact the lady in front of me asked her if she was ok. Nothing new that I can say that hasn't been said before. Consistently better prices but sometimes that means less selection. However they have a wonderful selection of bulk foods so you can buy 1 oz of ginger powder for that pie once a year and not have to buy a whole container for $5 that will go to waste. I consistently find random things for an unbelievable (unadvertised) price like when I found the 8 inch Sara Lee pies for $1.99 each or so after last New Year's. I like the produce and meat and fish and eggs much better than Walmart (which has eggs in styrofoam cartons still. Ick) It's big, it takes me 1 hour minimum to do a basic shopping trip, due to processing issues I guess. But I like winco so much and try to be organized enough to go here once or twice a month rather than go to the neighborhood Walmart that is about a mile from my house. I like their store brand clumping kitty litter most (and it's the cheapest one!) cuz other brands start smelling faster than theirs too. So many reasons to like winco! read more

So, I'm completely new to Winco. I don't have any other winco experiences to base this review in but if all the other Wincos are like this one.. they've got a good thing going. It's employee owned as I understand it (which is awesome) and you can really see it in the faces of the employees and feel it in their service. My first time in was just before Thanksgiving. I'd heard from some friends that I should go check out their turkeys. I think it was about eight days before the big day.. the store was out of any of the larger birds (which I'm accustomed to getting) so I decided on a couple of the smaller 11-12lb birds. Pro tip... I will NEVER buy a big bird again! The smaller birds are so much tastier!! Yes it means you have to cook 2 birds but it really opens up a lot of options.. I did 2 different brines and seasonings. I smoked one and oven roasted the other. Best thanksgiving ever by the way. Anyways back to WINCO.. yes it was thanksgiving time and the store was sacked and the people were less than civil but you... winco employees... held your own against onslaught of complaints and muttered curses. You still managed to smile and be helpful in our time of need! Thank you so much for all the help and guidance you gave this wayward soul! Will I be back in? Umm yeah.. This is the 1st winco I went to before Arizona made one. I was surprised they have good quality & great prices for food. My aunt always shops here. They even have barrels so you can put how much candy you want. Also they have barrels of seasonings and other things. They have a great variety of salami, cheeses & etc. read more

Winco is an Idaho gem. They continue to shine. Great selection, low prices, bag your own groceries. The only downside is the name. Waremart was much better. "Winco" reminds me of President Gerald Ford's WIN program, Whip Inflation Now. A shortened version of "Winning Company" isn't very creative. That doesn't stop me from shopping there, though. read more

I love the bulk food section at WINCO. All sorts of flours nuts chocolate and organic choices too. %read herb and spice selection also. They have added more organic vegetables and fruits along with sprouts. I'm still a meat eating and you can get ground turkey in 3 lb packages lower than anywhere. Cleaning products are well priced and also pasta and canned sauces. read more

They got rid of Genesee beer which was my last reason to really shop here. They also will not accept credit cards and on food stamp days it's absolutely unbearable trying to wade through a sea of people cramming their carts with processed food and soda pop. It's not a bad grocery store just not as cheap as they want you to believe. It seems that between Target, WinCo, Walmart and Albertson's the cost savings rotate every week with one thing being cheaper one day then cheaper at the next place the next day. I will say they do seem to have adequate staff on hand to run the tills, something that Target and Walmart cannot say. But I'll save spend the extra nickel on this and that elsewhere where they have my beer and I don't have to get dinged with that .50 cent debit fee my bank imposes. read more

A "put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is" friend of mine recently embarrassed me into avoiding Walmart; essentially a boycott. Having given it some thought, I have to agree. According to Forbes, four of the top twenty most-wealthy people in the U.S. are Waltons, the family that owns 51% of Walmart stock. At #14, Christy Walton is worth $28.2 billion; at #13, Robson is worth $29.1 billion; at #12, Alice is worth $29.5 billion, and at #9 Jim Walton is worth $31.1 billion. So, enough is enough, and I am going to spend my money elsewhere. But where? WinCo is the answer, especially since it is an employee-owned business. (I have gone out of my way to ask people working at WinCo how they like it; the employees are unanimously happy to be working there, a very good sign.) Not everything at WinCo is as inexpensive as they would like you to believe. However, unless you are willing to run all over the Treasure Valley in search of a can of corn that is two-cents less expensive, there is no reason to look for better overall prices. WinCo has a great selection of bulk foods ... nuts, grains, cereals, candy and the like, which is quite reasonably priced. They also have nice meats ... good deals on chicken and, my personal favorite, their yummy pork chops. There is always a huge selection of fresh produce, salad bags, fruits. Oh, I almost forgot, fresh bakery items too. Check out the poppy-seed muffins, for example, and the nice sourdough. If you are a pet owner, the pet supplies are comparatively inexpensive. I feed my little kitties Fancy Feast canned food (among other tasty treats). A 3 oz. can of Fancy Feast is $0.57 here, the same price as Walmart. Kitty litter is reasonably priced too. The "atmospherics" at WinCo leave just a little bit to be desired. That said, I realize the relatively Spartan setting(s) contribute to the lower prices. The Waltons have enough money. Winco is my go-to store when I have a long grocery shopping list. I always save more on the same brands and they stock enough quantity. They also carry those strange little brands and items that the other grocery stores would never carry. Today, I was there shopping for Thanksgiving. The same bottle of Kraft Old English cheese was $3.99 on sale at the other grocery stores, Winco's everyday price; $2.48. They also have an impressive cheese selection. I finally found soft gruyere (the soft version is really hard to find) and mizithra. My only requests: PLEASE remove those strong cinnamon scented cones from the entry way....they are toxic smelling....even the checkers are getting ill from the "fragrance." And please tone down that big blast of air that nearly knocks you over before you get to the door. You must think your customers need a good dusting before they enter. :) read more

I don't know who organizes this store but they definitely have their own method which, by the way, is really confusing. I went in searcing for Lara Bars, among other things. I placed them in the section with the protein bars, Muscle Milk and so on. I get to that section and they are not there, which is weird since Special K bars are there. I start walking to the check out area and catch a glimpse of some more bars on the cereal aisle. Yea...where the Lara Bars were located. I guess the Special K bars didn't qualify as cereal bars but the Lara Bars did to the Great Organizer of Winco. :/ Aside from that, the store is huge, clean, food is fresh, & service is friendly. read more

We really love Winco, and this location is no exception. We had to stop in real quick to grab a few things for a potluck. I was in and out fairly quickly, even though it was a weekend. There was one item that I had trouble finding and I asked the sales clerk that was refilling the bulk bins. He told me exactly where to find the item. Our favorite things about Winco are the large selection of items, low prices, the bulk bins, helpful employees, the specialty ethnic items, and the good sized produce area. read more

Originally came here for their area of bulk items but quickly realized that EVERYTHING was cheaper than everywhere we have shopped. The fresh produce was super inexpensive which was awesome!! We ended up shopping around and fell in love with the place for their super low prices. Definitely recommended for your grocery shopping needs. read more

What can I say it's a grocery store and I personally do not like grocery shopping, but that's not Winco fault. I was crazy enough to go on the first day of the month which also happened to be the super bowl. It was around 8:30 am and it it was already getting busy. I spent most of my time waiting in line. There could have been a couple more check stands open. The checker I had was extremely friendly and commented on how brave I was from coming in. She mentioned that she had been with Winco for 15 plus years. Winco must be doing something right keeping staff that long. read more

Winco has become the worst grocery store in the Treasure Valley. They really do not care about their customers. Their self check out will only take Bank cards no cash. Went in early to buy milk and was forced to wait 15 minutes to check out. Only one register open and of course several baskets very full. They keep saying its Covid and they can't get change, so no cash accepted at self check out. They say no one in the Treasure valley has cash. I have been to several stores and types of stores never had a problem with cash. In addition all of the other stores take credit cards, Winco does not. I was told by a person using cash at Winco that when they used their bank card at Winco it got compromised and their bank account was wiped out. Winco did not care, and said go to your bank and it took them 6 weeks to get their money reimbursed. I talked to my bank and they said yes it will take a few weeks to get reimbursed. Use a credit card and its immediate cancellation of fraud charges. When I talk to Winco's employees suggest they start accepting cash at the self check out, they say not my problem you can always shop elsewhere. Funny They can't do anything about it , not my problem???? I thought it was an employee owned store.Done shopping at Winco. read more

Can, will and do agree with what most of the other reviewers had to say, good prices, lots of choices and they do do a lot of relocating of some items, it seems that you can talk with about any employee that you come across and they can point you to where it's located, which brings me to the reason for this review, the review guidelines mentions something about not a place for ranting or for employment practices, but what I observed is an employment practice and is/was part of my (the consumer) experience. So anyway, I was in the frozen food dept. and an employee asked if I needed any help and I told him what I was looking for ,a particular type of frozen lasagna, I don't recall all that was said, but after a minute or so another employee walked up and the first asked him about it and the three of us were discussing where I might find this item or if they may have it or get it, but before we got any farther, well here comes some woman, guessing night shift foreperson?, anyway, she starts screaming most of which I didn't understand, but caught the part about not standing around talking. Ive walked off jobs for being treated that way, anyway, now when I go in there I am always watching out for her and ready to run, and maybe something bad happened that day, who knows why, but checkout and some of the other employee's I came across were very rude, but usually a good experience. read more
