Honestly one of my stable go to when I want a hot bagel sandwich. It's nothing fancy but it's filling and quality is good, bagel isn't stale, comes out hot and I see the guy make it. Service could be slow depending on day/night which sometimes is only one or two staff behind the counter but it's never too busy and people are generally patient so no biggie. It's a donut shop like any other, with limited seating indoors and outdoors, but this place opens late late so even if I'm craving a hot sandwich after hours I know I can drive here and expect the same quality. read more

Best donut shop ever, my relative bought half a dozen donuts and I'm trying the lemon filled one with powdered sugar, it's amazing, this might be my favorite one. There are a bit of downs on this place though. If I am not mistaken, there used to be a lot more Winchell's locations all over California. Now, I only see them in Southern California for the most part. A few weeks ago, I had one of my many donut cravings. Figured I'd go to a Winchell's because I have not been in one in years. This particular shop was in a little strip mall. The parking lot has quite a bit of potholes so drive carefully. Their donut cases were filled nicely that late morning I visited. I bought one Chocolate French Cruller and one Custard filled Chocolate donut. Bought tasted alright. Although the custard inside the donut was not the kind I prefer, and it had a bit of an aftertaste. Would be a regular if I lived close by. You are sure to find something to satisfy your sweettooth. I came here today in the morning and there were elderly people in there while a song about ass and titties was blasting on their speakers. They said that the place was "sinful" and left quickly. The 2 girls that were working had literally no clue what they were doing. Which is understandable if they are new. These folks should be ashamed of themselves. My mom has a permanent handicap license plate and parked in a handicap parking spot. They called the tow truck to tow her car and told my mother that, that spot is only for people with wheelchairs. This review is based on my 1st time visit to this location at like 12am just to give readers an idea of the timing when I went but honestly their selection was very mediocre and they didn't have any of the donuts they have featured up here. All that was left was donuts that had this weird yellow / puke looking frosting and also the apple filled donut we got was also undercooked as the dough inside was still very chewy. The worst part was the donut holes they had upfront. While I understand that donut holes are usually the leftover donut material, these donut holes were hard as a rock, the sprinkles were all gross and melted and the bag had gross fingerprints all over it. The only reason I bought them was because my girlfriend said she wanted something pink (I know, girls ) but honestly I didn't even notice how bad they looked until I got home and inspected them. What makes this place different, besides being a big chain shop, is that their donuts are actually fresh and normal size, not like the miniature donuts that Krispy Kreme is passing off as full size donuts. And, they have breakfast sandwiches and, wait for it... Burritos. I didn't have a chance to sample one due to time constraints, but they had chorizo and bacon and cheddar, to name a few. The place is really clean and my little ones can see inside the display cases and choose their own donuts. This is my go to place with the family after church on Sunday's, but today's visit was to get my son to eat something... Anything... As he is fighting a really bad fever and hasn't eaten much in 2 days. I was desperate to get some calories in him and guess what? This place has been here since I was a little kid in the 60s. It's changed hands a few times over almost six decades, but since Wasef bought the franchise, it's in my opinion the best local place to grab donuts. The service is excellent (sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but they're popular, particularly in the morning, so it's understandable, and they work quickly and efficiently). I've bought a ton of their donuts (I'm there 1-2x a week) and am never disappointed. They also get creative, especially for holidays and special occasions: I bought several Valentine's Day donuts for guys working on my house, and they graciously personalized them for me--very nice. I also pick up a dozen when I go to the dentist: What dental office doesn't approve of sugary donuts? The store is always clean, the donut/sandwich case always nicely stocked and appetizing, there are lots of options, pricing is reasonable, and the coffee is pretty good. Running a 24-hour donut business is hard work, and Wasef and his team do a great job. I'm so glad this hometown donut shop has undergone a revival. Keep up the good work. read more

Other donut shops around here don't compare to the freshness of the food and donuts, and the great customer service :) This is a family owned business and you can tell that there's a lot of thought put into their craft and there's something here for everyone, breakfast sandwiches, milkshakes and even fresh juices :) This Winchell's also gets an A++++ for being fast during the morning rush without sacrificing the quality of the food. Winchells has the honor of making the best and worst donut shop treat in NC. The worst is the donut holes by the register. They are packaged cute with a variety of cake and glaze. Don't be fooled, the bag I grabbed had melted into a gooey ball on the counter, just as I took a bite I notice the glaze smells bad, and I had to chew it forever it was rubbery or dried out.
