Wimpy's exterior

How can anyone go to Grayling and not visit Wimpy's. They have a full menu but we only ordered ice cream. They have soft serve and Ashby's Sterling Ice Cream, made in Ludington, Michigan. I had a scoop of Sea Turtle ice cream and it was generous and delicious. We also had a large soft serve vanilla cone. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting with ample seating outside.

Friendly service and great ice cream! The food smelled delicious as well and I definitely will try some more in the future!

a basket of chips and salsa

They said they were out of sour creme so they offered us some cup ranch (trash). Nachos supreme were all chips and no supreme. They did give us extra mild salsa which was not good at all. 2nd time here and the same service. Go somewhere else. This place sucks.

Great service there's almost always a big line that takes about 5-10 minutes. The ice cream was amazing worth the wait.

If…read morelike me, you've found yourself jumping from brunch spot to brunch spot during the busy season in Grayling, desperately looking for somewhere to eat deep-fried food and perhaps enjoy a cocktail, while finding yourself with 1-2 hour waits, and questioning the meaning of life... look no further. Sure it's not fancy, and it's definitely not trendy, but the food is solid, the atmosphere and service are authentic, and everything is just good enough to make you happy you skipped the lines. You'll be home in a carb coma, long before you'd even be served downtown at the local brew pub.

I had the basket of chicken tenders with seasoned fries and she had a corned beef sammich with Cole slaw, and we each had a lemonade. The annual Au Sable Canoe Marathon is this weekend (which I was not aware of) and though the place was busy they seated us right away. Our server Katie was a regular customer and joined the staff not long after discovering the place, and we could tell that she enjoys her job. She's good at it, too. When in Grayling, come to the Gray Rock and have an appetizer or a meal, or maybe just a beer or two. Live music and a panoply of comedic talent takes the stage regularly. You won't be sorry you came!

The atmosphere is lively--maybe a little too lively, with music blasting so loud it's hard to carry on a conversation. The salad bar was decent, and our waitress was friendly but clearly overwhelmed. We ordered an Italian grinder and a chicken-fried steak with the salad bar, but a few minutes later she returned to let us know they were out of steak. Another ten minutes passed before she came back to take a replacement order. Unfortunately, our meals weren't entered together. About 35 minutes into our visit, drinks finally arrived. Ten minutes after that, my dinner showed up... but the other entrée didn't make it to the table for another 20-25 minutes. By that point, we'd already shared mine and asked for the second meal to be boxed up. Between the long waits, the out-of-stock entrée, and the overly loud music, this just wasn't the relaxing dinner we'd hoped for. While the Wall of Honor is a nice touch, I wouldn't save this spot in my GPS for a return trip.

Tinkers did an admirable job , presenting a large portion (4 pieces) of chicken, along with a soup/salad bar option and potato of choice with the entree. It was golden brown, crispy and perfectly moist. Would consider it a worthy competitor to any I have had before. Our waitperson was friendly and just attentive enough. Tinkers will certainly become a regular place for me.
