Wimpys aren't great anyway, but this one was one of the worst I've ever been to. It's the poor quality of the service that really lets this place down.
I was sitting at one of two tables joined together. When the server brought my drink, she just dumped it on the other table (she did not want to waste an extra second putting it onto my table), without even looking at me, and she carried on her loud chatting with the other staff. So I had to stretch across and grab my drink myself. Then when she brought me my food she did exactly the same thing. And it wasn't just that one staff member who was off-hand - another one who had delivered the condiments and cutlery just dumped them on my table.
The food itself burger+chips+Coke - was just about edible (but even so was slightly poorer quality than other Wimpys).
Most of the other customers at the time of my visit (a weekday lunchtime) were in their 60s or 70s, with a few young mothers and babies.
The place itself is in a dull side-street just outside a small shopping centre, so there's nothing to delight the eye. Only come here if you're desperate (unfortunately Ashford town centre is not blessed with good-quality eateries). read more
