I visited The Old Brewery Tavern for a friend's birthday dinner.
Our server was very, very derpy, did not quite know how to take the order in the correct order. Wine was brought up incorrectly twice, drinks not as advertised. I asked for the lemonade, and I got a fizzy Sierra Mist or 7UP tasting drink instead. Definitely not what I was expected.
Before the order came in, the fire alarm went off, and everyone was asked to evacuate to 0° weather outside. Then, they told us it was fixed, and let us back in. However, the fire alarm went off twice more, and each time this was repeated.
This was very unprofessional. One time is not even acceptable, because the fire alarm should not be giving false alarms just because of the smoke in the kitchen. If they had properly maintained these alarms, it would have worked out better.
I ordered the sirloin steak, cooked normal. The server was like, "what do you mean by normal?" I told him it meant medium-rare. Again, derpy servers. The steak came out surprisingly on-temperature, and tasted quite nice. Needed some more salt and pepper, but it was alright without any sauce or condiments on it. The mashed potatoes tasted like you were eating mashed salt. It was so full of salt I had a hard time swallowing it.
When the check came at the end (for 10 people!) the server did not split the bill even though we had asked, and I had to spend twenty minutes dividing the order across people. Again, this is just a service problem. A server who does not know how to take an order in a clockwise direction, and then split the bill as such.
Really had hoped the service and atmosphere could match the food, but that did not happen. read more
