We arrived into St Leonards Warrior Square station around lunch time and were planning on having lunch before checking in to our accommodation. The point of which is that we walked from the station to the seafront (downhill to the sea, then turn right along the waterfront) to Teddy's Beach Diner. We were here in early November and it was forecast for rain a couple of days before, but on the day it was blue skies and sunshine. Which as it turns out meant that the balcony of Teddy's was a perfect place to perch for a pre-lunch drink and then food in the sunshine. And being on the 'beach' side of the road, the unobstructed views over the water are just amazing. The staff here are just lovely; they were engaging and we had brief but meaningful conversations - even about as mundane a topic as our choice for wine. For one server it was their first day at work. The service was uniformly friendly and efficient at every point. We sat outside but the service included keeping in regular contact with us to ensure that we had everything that we needed. The menu is as the name implies, a Diner style i.e. informal and American influenced. There are some seafood choices available given the seaside location, but as we were planning to have seafood at dinner I went for the more standard burger for lunch. It was very tasty indeed, served on a wooden chopping board. Brioche bun, high stack of (homemade) burger meat with tasty bacon and lovely pickles, and a little tin of fries to the side. My friend had a half rack of ribs, which was plenty big enough for lunch - covered most of the plate! We returned here twice for drinks over the course of the weekend. Sat indoors then as it was later in the day. Tables are a good distance away from each other so no crowded feeling. We even scored some free homemade popcorn with our drinks. Don't often find something for nothing. Prices are very reasonable too - both food and drink. In short this place ticks every box - comfortable, friendly service, amazing views, tasty food and it won't break the bank. Definitely recommend.

We ordered the katsu burger with fried chicken as the meat and I ordered the heiffer with a 60%40% Chuck/pancetta Patty and fried chicken and both were simply perfect. The meat in my Patty was a perfect pink in the center and lovely with the smoked cheese melted smoothly over the top of it. The bun was divine as well. The katsu burger really mimics well the katsu sauce we had in Kyoto and Tokyo earlier this year and really worked with the fried chicken. Now for the star of the show. The Pad Thai Fries were out of this world. I devoured every last bit of these fries despite how full I was from the burger. Overall, this was the best meal I've eaten in Eastbourne and the best burger Ive eaten anywhere in quite a while which includes burgers in the states. I have purchased food from here several times and while I have not limited myself to this one kebab shop I have always found myself coming back! The staff upon greeting or through conversation via phone call are always present and well spoken, the food is well prepared and of good quality produce and the price is about average for a kebab shop my favourite is the Chicken Shish Wrap Now I have not visited every kebab shop in the area as this would consist of an even stricter diet and strenuous exercise but batman grill is the only ( Kebab ) shop that know of with a 5 on their food hygiene standards and to put that into prospective there are many restaurants and other delicatessens in the area that don't hold close to that. Over all when its time for a kebab again, I know where I will be going!
