Land Of Green Ginger is a good example of the upmarket, quirky and often Bohemian independent retailers that now abound. They seem to specialise in healthy, veggie food with brunch, cakes and drinks too. They have a pleasant courtyard to the rear & a good stock of magazines and papers to browse. It's often busy but the staff are friendly and happy to help. We brought a birthday cake and they happily gave us plates (as they're a small cafe though I can imagine on a busier day they might not have enough spare if you're a large group like us - best to bring extra napkins if you want to do cake just in case).
