Flint Owl Bakery is based in Glynde in East Sussex. Here, they produce all their bread by hand, using little or no yeast, no preservatives or additives of any kind, and using very traditional processes. They specialise in sourdoughs but also do bloomers, wholemeal and granary loafs, and seasonal loafs depending on the time of year. As well as bread, they do a number of cakes and buns, and actually have a coffee shop on site although I didn't try it on this occasion. The bread truly is the best I have ever eaten. Bread can nowadays come with a bad reputation, but if you eat good quality bread like this without all the hidden extras, I don't see how it can possibly do you harm. The only downside is that it tastes so good it's impossible to stop at a slice or two! I would recommend the fig and walnut and the sea salt and rosemary. I plan to work my way through the other varieties asap. Go, buy, stock up your freezer, and never buy supermarket bread ever again!

The space in here is quite long and narrow, so in a strange way it already feels quite cosy because of this, and it isn't annoying, it really is just cosy! I ordered a large Americano, which I think was about £2.30, so towards the higher end of large coffee's in terms of price, but OH MY LORD it was the biggest, fattest most unforgiving cup of Coffee I have ever seen in my life. I should have expected this, seeing as the assistant asked me whether I would like two mini jugs of milk, because as she said rather hesitantly, the large coffee's were "rather big". It was served in what really could be best described as a soup bowl, with two handles, and once I'd finished my eye started twitching, my jaw grinding and I was in my own focused and stimulated, blueish world with my laptop for the next hour or so (enjoying the free wifi too). Amongst other things they sell flat caps, fedoras, beautiful butter soft brown leather journals and coin purses (£21.20). They also sell boys-y things like old fashioned mess tins and constructable cardboard dinosaurs. There is some cross over of stock from the high street store, for example with their own brand scents (£29.50) which come very tastefully packaged in plain glass bottles, save for a coloured button denoting which of their four scents is inside. They also sell interesting old fashioned notebooks at both stores. The high street store is larger, and has a café at the back, although it is also more twee. It stocks women's and children's clothes and accessories aimed at the mummies of Lewes. Saying that they do have some lovely things, and the cakes are very tasty. They certainly don't go in for the minimalism of other nearby shops like Flint and Adamczewski, and as a result it's a good place to go for a rummage if you are gift shopping.

As you go in they have fantastic wool blankets, jewellery, perfume, hats and scarves. Then they have two or three rails of fabulous women's clothes-all from ethical brands, all reasonable prices and all that great style on the go, chic comfort look that I love. Then you hit toys and kitchenalia- cake stands, milk jugs, wooden letters to decorate, soft toys and kid's clothes. Finally, at the back a big finale of white wooden tables-a cafe! Genius.

This is an independent and slightly eccentric café on the station platform in Lewes, which sells…read morecooked food and takeaway items like sandwiches. They advertise at the top of the station with a poem, and there are other station related poems posted in the window of the café. As well as teas and coffees and soft drinks they also have a full bar, which makes this station café rather better stocked than most. The food on offer is quite traditionally British if you catch my drift, e.g. The takeaway sandwiches are on bright white sliced bread, but the thing that sets this café apart is the service. It has been owned by the same couple for 20 years, and very recently was under pressure to close and be replaced by a chain. However the residents of Lewes did what they do best, stepped in and saved the café, and I'm glad they did. I went in the other morning to get a snack, and the gentleman serving me was very friendly and chatty. Just as I was about to pay, I realised I didn't have any cash on me. Rather than let me go away empty-handed he told me it was fine, I could take my items and come back and pay him another day. It is so heart warming when incidents like this happen. It is one thing to provide good service, it is another to put such a level of trust in your customer. Plus he said he liked my scarf. I went back and paid him the day after.

I couldn't go on lying to you like that, partly because it was quite a bad lie, and I think you would have most likely foiled my dastardly plan. So as you stupid ones at the back of the class are still trying to work out just what this shop does sell, I will address YOU at the front of the class, and explain exactly what Cheese Please does sell, and in what manner it does this. Well it sells loads of amazing cheeses, lovingly displayed in this delightful shop. There are always over 10 cheddars and 10 different blue cheeses as well as a veritable selection of soft and hard cheeses . with all this cheese, they make unsurprisingly very nice baguettes, which I had, with cheese in! and which was very well priced, so I was very happy. They also sell non cheese products, but I don't want to dwell on them, other than the quince jelly, which is amazing with cheese. Cheese cheese cheese. Please Oh yeah...I should probably mention that it is also a contender for Sussex Foodshop of the year. So there.

The decor inside is not comfy and warming enough to make you want to go back, and the chairs and tables are more suited to a restaurant than a coffee shop. NOT ENOUGH COMFY SEATING! I also thought that it just seemed a bit dirty inside, with the floor needing a good sweep, and the toilets a good old mop. My coffee was pretty good though, and the size (as ever with these places) was decent enough to keep you buzzing for a few hours, so can't complain there.

We tried The Bloody Mary's, cause why not. We added a bit of Bill's spicy sauce, and it was perfect. A good option for Saturday day drinking. We shared a bunch of plates. We ordered the garden sampler which included Halumi fries, Korean cauliflower and tzatziki. The Halumi fries were my fav. I've had better Korean cauliflower. The fries were perfect. The prawns were fresh and delicious. Lovely spot to take it all in!

Luckily, they had my second choice available - a mezze plate with olives, feta, melon, humous, guacamole, babaganouish and grilled bread.
