We were seated quickly and the service was great. I ordered the pizza and it was amazing, definitely yummy.

It's part of the Antic stable of pubs, they have several around, mainly south, London. They serve a variety of beers, local brews/craft beers and the such like. This one is located on a busy high street, that has good transport links and being a former whether spoons you know the location must work, although not sure why it went from being a stick know what you are getting from whether spoons to a trendy pub. So they have done the refurbishment thing and made the inside trendy, in line with the current trend for gastro pubs. Some exposed brick work, some abstract art on the walls along with a shelf full of old tea cups and condiment jars. The space internal space is big with lots seating areas, some more comfortable than others, a mix of booths, normal tables and high chairs/high bench seats and tables. The food, as far as I have experienced is ok, if you sit to the left hand side of the pub(facing the bar as you walk in) you can see the kitchen and staff hard at work, well depending on what time of day you venture in. The menu has the usual variety, fish, burger, steak and veggie option. I think most will be able to find something to eat and drink in here. They have a good wine list to go alongside the beers and spirits. Time will tell if it works given where it is based.

This is the first cocktail bar in the area and hopefully it will be here for a long time. Now do not get me wrong I do like this place but there are a few things that it will need to improve on. The variety of cocktails on offer is ok. They can make some on demand but not every cocktail you may ask for. I guess that there are more cocktails in the world that I know of so I cannot argue with that, however I do think the menu they have needs a few more additions. The staff are all very helpful and accommodating I especially like the fact that when someone who clearly had had a few too many somewhere else got a little to loud they were quick to quieten him down and then he left quickly after that. The music level is ok so you can have a conversation without competing with the music. The price of the cocktails is cheaper than city prices but still pricy for the area. Some little nibbles on offer might be another good improvement. As it is early days I'm sure they will figure this out.

Tastefully decorated and a place where you would want to sit and drink (not propping up the bar), the waiting staff were friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves also. They accommodated making a cocktail which was not on the menu. Although they have a menu of cocktails, there are not many on there and, if you label yourself 'cocktail', I'd expect to have a wide variety of cocktails to select from. I think this could be improved. They also have a downstairs area which we were informed is intended to be for live DJ nights on the weekend. That area is more spacious in the middle with a bar down there also. The night we were in there, it was not overly busy (which I like!). There was one noisy customer who clearly had too much to drink however, he was promptly told to keep it down otherwise leave. Good sign of the calibre they wish to keep so hopefully they keep this up. I think the music, could be a little lower upstairs leaving this area where you come to sit and chat and downstairs a little more vibrant. With the music high, you have to raise your voice making it all a little noisy for a cocktail lounge. I hope they do well here as it is something different to what is available in CP currently. I will visit again and see how they progress.

They have clearly invested in several new TV sets and are proud to let you know they are showing the latest football matches and many other sports live. They have a new menu, I can't comment on the food as we did not try any but it looks to be the usual, burgers, chips sandwiches and the like. They have a mixture of high seating areas and your comfortable sofa seating areas. They stock a full bar of sprits and unlike a lot of pubs did not seem to have many craft beers, if any, on offer. I know this maybe an issue for some people but they do have Guiness, John smiths, Estralla and some other well known brands. Service was a little slow, it was still early Friday afternoon and only member of staff behind the bar. Another one did appear before we left so I hope that the service got quicker with the addition of other staff. On top of the new food menu, on Friday & Saturday, they sell Jerk Chicken and pork, which I am reliably informed is very good, so I will definitely go back to try some!! They have a happy hour 7pm until close on Saturday & Sunday, only spirits included though.

The beer selection was standard for a British pub (so poor comparing to most other places) but prices were affordable. The service was also fast and friendly. They also had a sign stating 'Food now served' so I dared to ask about it (still having nightmares of the pub food I had when going to a football game in Watford) and the food was being barbecued in the outdoor garden area. Very simple food, either pork or chicken served with bread and coleslaw. I would not call it a great meal but far better than some other pubs I have been to. The place was also reasonably clean so a pretty decent option for anyone looking for a place before heading to watch Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Their cocktail menu is not your traditional, run of the mill menu. Each cocktail is themed and they are delicious - some of them even come with sweets or a chocolate! I had a 'Paparazzi' which had: Bombay Saphire, Earl Grey Reduction, Coconut Syrup, Almond Syrup with a dash of lime and was served up in a vintage camera lens. It was delicious and I thought that it was a novel way of serving up a cocktail! On the website I had seen that they offered a 'Posh G&T' however when I got there and asked for it, they no longer served it. However the waiter changed his mind after seeing how disappointed I was and made it for me anyway. It was quite sweet, tasted like it had lychee syrup in however it definitely hit the spot! We went in Happy Hour on a Friday night which was from 5pm to 7pm. The cocktails are from £9 to £11 which in my opinion was a bit expensive for Croydon. Especially as I had been to some cocktail bars in London where the drinks have been cheaper. They provide table service and you can set up a tab. The venue itself is fairly small with no cloakroom space. I booked an area for 20 people from 5pm to 7pm however when we got there, the allocated space was not big enough even though the manager claimed that it would fit 20. As I'd paid a £25 deposit, you can imagine I was not impressed. But there was nothing I could do and my group didn't seem to mind. Overall, it is a nice bar for Croydon and I was pleasantly surprised. But I thought that it for Croydon, although well made, the cocktails were a bit pricey and I was miffed about my booking.
