This place really has a ton of inventory and a nice showroom to go with a very competent staff. That being said, the prices are quite high. We were looking for ways to upgrade our traditional gas burning fireplace and got some great advice and ideas here. We ended up buying a small can of black heat resistant paint to coat the interior wall. That $40 purchase made us feel better about using their advice to find less expensive items elsewhere. If you have the money, and like to see things up close, this is a nice store. read more

This is my go to place for all things fireplace related. I came here to see about ordering an igniter board for an electric fireplace. Juan was very happy and extremely easy to work with. They found the part I needed and had it to me in a timely manner. My new go to place for fireplace stuff for sure. read more

I arrived just before closing on a Saturday night to purchase a tool set for our fireplace. No problem at all - they were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without rushing me. I purchased a beautiful set and just wanted to convey my appreciation. read more

Good service despite just walking in one day. They were helpful and gave a lot of very useful information.

Great product at a fair price. Superior service. After my installation in the morning, the key did not work for me later in the day. The tech returned to my house even though it was practically closing time on Saturday night in order to help me figure it out. He was able to saw-down the key (not sure how) so that it worked. Extra good service. THANK YOU read more

Nice service when I walked in but it is sooooo expensive like insanely expensive when I have compared it to other shops. They did say they were having a sale on some items but it was extremely expensive read more

They were very helpful and knowledgeable and took care of everything I needed. Plus the price very reasonable.

I had a glass fireplace idea in mind and came to Wilshire Fireplace. I found the staff to be really knowledgeable and helpful. I got the proper burner, lava gas fitting and glass all at a very fair price. read more

In 2017 we went to Wilshire Fireplace with our idea and a dimensioned drawing for a large fireplace screen for our custom fireplace, which I designed and built. (Photos will be attached later) Since we are also collectors of sea shells, we asked if they could incorporate a sea shell theme. About a week later we received an email with the price quote. It was a high price, but considering the size and custom nature, we have the OK to get started. About a month later, we received the call that the screen was completed. When we first saw it we were amazed at the quality and artistic nature of the workmanship. It greatly exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Wilshire Fireplace for any of your fire screen or other related needs. read more

I had the most incredible experience with Wilshire Fireplace Shop in Costa Mesa...First I was enticed to go into the shop by talking with Kevin over the phone...he was knowledgeable and very courteous...then we went into the shop and Kevin showed us what was available and explained everything perfectly...then we purchased what we wanted and within a week it had come into the shop and Octavio came out to install the fireplace system we had ordered...he was just fantastic...he did everything we asked because we needed him to remove some glass and another cover that was on the previous fireplace...he did efficiently and expeditiously...within an hour he was done and we now have a beautiful fireplace in our home thanks to Wilshire Fireplace shop...we are so grateful!!! Many thanks to all of you that worked on our behalf to make it happen...we are very pleased.!!! Diane and Jim F. read more

I work for an architectural firm and called the Beverly Hills location for two projects I am working on. Experienced the RUDEST phone manners I ever experienced. No thanks. I am taking our business elsewhere. read more

Heena has helped us on multiple occasions to repair and improve our fireplaces. We have an 80 year old house and the gas starter was more of a gas faster and Heena got us a new pipe that quadrupled the cheesy gas flow and got our wood blazing in minutes. She's also worked miracles on our outdoor gas fireplace. We've had them fabricate custom screens for us and now were doing new gas logs for the house. We couldn't be more pleased with the customer service. read more

Kevin and team did an awesome job in the installation of our new fireplace. It's beautiful!! Thank you!

Big thanks to Wilshire for helping me out when I needed just a small piece of ceramic insulation for a project. I highly recommend them and Heena's kindness to a person simply asking for a favor was beyond my expectations. I would have been happy to pay for their time and they said no charge... Clearly in for the long run... Wonderful people. Have the best day. read more

I called today Costa Mesa store to ask if someone can come and take a look at my fireplace. They asked me to bring pictures of fireplace and come to the shop. I informed them I know what I want and I might go for glass / contemporary look the guy ask me to take measurements and visit the shop. I told him I am hesitant to do so as I am not good at it and if someone can come by and I am returning customer. No luck there he just kept on repeating same things. Wow definitely these people don't care for new business. They decide whom they choose over phone. Not a good approach. read more

I was looking for a fireplace upgrade and installing doors on a couple of my fireplaces. These guys are rude and unhelpful. No way these guys understand customer service. I ended up going with another dealer. Went to their store since it was close to me. The lady in the store was curt and misinformed (or intentionally misleading) and claimed that the fireplace doors provide an air-tight seal against chimney draft. In any case I had them come to my house to measure for fireplace doors. After the quote I called the manufacturer for additional questions and learned that the air-tight claim was false. I tried to see if there was a better door option and was still willing to give Wilshire my business since they measured my fireplaces and I do need someone to install the doors. However, when I called back, they were even less willing to answer questions, some are basic such as how will they attach the doors to the fireplace frame, etc. At that point I decided to look for another dealer. Total waste of time and if you want to understand what you are buying/installing, go find another dealer. read more

The worst service ever. Avoid this place! After spending $750 to replace a gas insert and multiple service calls, I still have a useless system. The gas company came out for $25 and reinstalled the old system and works like a charm. Wilshire didn't attempt to make it right and when we asked the owner to come out after several failed attempts by their serviceman, the owner refused! read more

Worst customer service ever. When we mentioned the logs were very expensive he turned his back and never really looked back to help us look at anything else. He was rude. We might of spent the money if you would have talked to us about the product. read more

As others have mentioned the people at this store are very experienced and knowledgeable, but I also had the experience of them going well beyond what I would have expected for customer service. Marc was very committed to making sure I had everything I needed to get the exact fireplace I wanted, and thanks to his guidance and help, it turned out great. I highly recommend this store for their product knowledge and customer service. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. This place has some nice stuff, and I'm sure they have knowledge of fireplaces, fire pits, etc. But my experience there from a customer service standpoint was terrible. I bought a $110 fireplace accessory, and Marc (or Mark), the person who helped me, was pleasant enough. The piece had to be ordered, several days later I got the call that it was in, and I went down to pick it up. Turns out it was the wrong part, and what transpired next is what earned this place one star. The person at the counter (NOT Marc) showed no interest at all in helping me, and said "Marc wrote that up, he's not in right now but when he gets in he'll give you a call." I informed this person that I had gone through the trouble to drive over here and was standing right in front of him, I didn't understand why he couldn't help me--my purchase was from Wilshire & Okell's, not Marc. This seemed to upset him greatly. He said in kind of an accusatory tone that the piece in question had to be fabricated to order, as if somehow the fact that it wouldn't fit my fireplace was my fault--now I've gone and ruined everything. I let him know that I was sorry for that but it wasn't my problem, I had ordered one thing and received something entirely different. After a bit of tense back and forth he blurted out "Well what do you want--do you want your money back?". I indicated that I did, and he processed the return. After I signed the receipt, he took it and in a very brusque manner he said "we're done," and he turned away, grabbed the phone and with his back to me started talking to someone who had been on hold. You'd think that at a place like this they'd know how to treat a customer, that they'd try to make it right rather than cop an attitude. The whole time, though, this guy acted like I was bothering him and that their ordering of the wrong part was somehow my fault. Never again. read more

We have been putting off our fireplace project for over 2 years. We finally decided to pull the trigger. After going to a few places displeased with the service we finally arrived at Wilshire. We immediately noticed their customer service and professionalism to be A+. We spoke specifically with Mark. He was very pragmatic. He made no attempt to up-sell us and provided us with a very good idea of what was realistic for our space. He provided us the details of what steps are required to complete our project and referred us to his colleagues in the area for the parts that Wilshire doesn't complete. His recommendations and referrals were equally professional and friendly. We would absolutely use their services again. A+! read more

I have received tremendous service from Marc. He was very patient, answered my million questions, was a good consultant, returned calls promptly, ordered spare fireplace logs, and exchanged the ones that had some damage. Effortless experience for a very thankful customer. This is the way service and sale should be done. read more

Great sales process, really poor follow through by Mark who I spoke with multiple times to ensure things would end up perfect. Octavio the installer was phenomenal and is the reason they are getting a 4 instead of a 2. Also the General Manager Heeman (sorry if I spelt that wrong) had good follow up on my final requests. read more
