Wines of Washington Tasting Room - Wine flight and cheese plate

Another Pike Place Gem! Wines of Washington Tasting Room is a must try. This is easily one of the…read moremost unique tasting rooms I've been to. Amazing wines, creative cocktails, solid snacks, great service and even games. You could wander in "for one flight" and somehow emerge six hours later wondering where the time went (in the best way.) On the wine side, they offer several thoughtfully curated flights, or you can build your own adventure. Which I highly recommend. The dessert wines alone are incredible, and the selection of aromatic whites is seriously impressive. No matter your palate, there's something here that will make you pause, sip again, and nod approvingly. And then there are the wine-based cocktails that deserve their own standing ovation. A wine tasting room doing cocktails this well is rare. We tried the Espresso Martini, the French 125, and the Lavender Lemon Martini, and every single one was better than I expected grape-based cocktails to be. Like, pleasantly shocked. Bottom line: if you're anywhere near Pike Place and enjoy wine (or cocktails, or fun, or all of the above) this place is a must. I can almost guarantee it'll become your new favorite spot.

This used to be one of my favorite spots at Pike Market. For years, I made it a tradition to bring out-of-town guests here. Over time, I have brought more than 100 people here. It had a charming, warm, and welcoming feel--like a hidden gem in the city. It oozed with kindness and fun. Unfortunately, that has completely flipped! Since the new manager, Anthony, took over, the entire atmosphere has shocked me. What was once inviting now is rigid, cold, and unwelcoming. The biggest issue, however, was the way I was treated. The interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive, which was both surprising and disappointing given my long history with this place. Great establishments are built not just on food or ambiance, but on how people are treated--and that piece is clearly missing now. It's especially unfortunate because the rest of the team still shows glimpses of what this place used to be. Jordon, was genuinely kind and pleasant, but one positive interaction couldn't outweigh the manager's miserable attitude. It's hard to see a place that once felt so special lose its charm like this. I know the winemaker Paul is a great person - so it is hard to leave such a terrible review, but at the same time, if this was my place -- I would want to know what was happening behind the scenes at my establishment. I truly hope leadership reflects on how customer experience is being handled moving forward. Don't give money to places that have toxic attitudes and are joy crushers! Life is too short and far too precious! In the meantime, there are many nearby spots that consistently deliver both quality and incredible hospitality. Skip this place, and instead go to Browne Family Vineyards Tasting Room, The Lonely Siren, The Pink Door, Place Pigalle, or Maximilien. Those places are working very hard to create an exceptional experience!

You can choose to sit on the main floor, outside, or upstairs. Got a flight of red wine, a flight of whites, and a flight of chocolate (which comes with a glass of wine specifically as a pairing. This was my favorite wine). AND a free snack bowl was provided! The workers did an excellent job. They brought out the wines one at a time- describing each one in detail, even pointing out which were their favorites. The service was very personable, which is something I don't always get at other places that do wine tastings. The chocolates were melt in your mouth, with unique flavors, making it extra fun. I must note- getting the flights that we did was pricey, but I know, most wine tastings and fancy chocolates are going to be expensive. I also wish there was a little more chocolate in the flight. It was difficult to cut up and share. However, this was a wonderful experience that I'm happy to have tried once, and they deserve the 5 stars!

When we were seated we were given menus and the staff walked us through each flight offered. They even provide complimentary gluten free snack mix! We ordered two first class flights and a chocolate flight. The first class is a red flight, but starts with champagne (yes real champagne). I've never had champagne to start a flight and I absolutely loved it. The flight was well placed with each wine growing bolder. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and took time to explain each wine to every table. The chocolate flight was the best chocolate I have ever had, the chocolatier was even serving our wine and brought out the chocolates as well. He explained every piece and where each ingredient was from. The chocolate flight came with a port that paired well with every chocolate. This wine tasting room is thoughtfully curated and you can tell with every glass and piece of chocolate.

The wineries varied along with the types of wines, so if you have a preference on wineries or wine I recommend sharing that with Ramon as he is open to suggestions and makes it the best experience possible.

I was incredibly impressed with this authentic restaurant. It was delicious. We ate early, though, around 11:00 am. So, don't have a big breakfast before hand.
